Hi I am new and nervous
Hi, I have been banded for 10 months and love it. Don't be scared, it is totally natural. Just ask your surgeon about getting pregnant. They can always unfill your band if its required. Good luck with your surgery.

Introduction
I would fee a little weird not meeting my surgeon until the day of the surgery. Is there any way you can make an appointment to meet him prior. As far as my husband saying that I'll leave him, it is more comments about me feeling too good about myself and wanted too much plastic surgery. In any case, congrats on getting banded. I love my band. Julie

getting worried
I use GNC's protein shakes. They have 25 grams of protein.

Loosing my mind
I'm with Autumn, it will take your body a few days to adjust. Congrats on finally being banded. That is great news.

Making my decision...advice welcome
Most insurances will not approve surgery unless you have BMI of 40 or above. I believe surgeons in Mexico do surgery on lower BMI

Making my decision...advice welcome
You may have difficulty getting the lapband at 35. You have to do your homework with surgeons in your area. Also, most insurances will not approve a bmi

1st Fill---Feeling Sick
I agree with the above, stay on liquids, then move to soups, then mushies then solids. Hope you feel better.

Need advice on how to tell my mom to quit the rude LB remarks
Personally, I would be very direct with her. This surgery is for you and you alone. Tell her that with or without her support you are moving forward. The band is simply a tool and not the easy way out.

letter I received from Andres
What a jerk. Thanks for the warning.

Surgery on April 4, 2007
Lauren, congrats on your surgery. Good luck to you. Julie

anyone take gel capsules?
I can take gel capsules with no problem.

Crushing Meds right after surgery
My doctor doesn't recommend crushing the pills. They should go down fine if they are about the size of an M&M. I can also take my capsule just fine. Julie

Hungry before and after?
It really depends on the individual. My hungry never really fully returned. Good luck. Julie

getting worried
Quite simply, its the price you pay to get banded. Just put it in your head that the sutures are healing that hold the band in place. Protein shakes will help. Good luck. Julie

A couple more questions...
I guess so. It is quite common to gain weight when you move off of mushies to solids then losing it after you start getting fills. Don't panic. Just try and keep your calories to under 1k a day. Protein first.

How do you FEEL during the lap band experience?
PB is productive burp. It is similar to vomitting.
-
A couple more questions...
Yes, I eat out all the time. I just take food home with me. You will be able to enjoy all your favorite foods, just less of them. :clap2:

lapband Hell
Berry, its okay to eat....but try and stick with solid protein. It will fill you up fast and last the longest. Julie

Feeling Blue
This is when weight loss becomes more difficult. My first 50 lb were a breeze now I am faced with 30-50 more and I'm terrified it will be difficult. Just try and think why you did this in the first place. Maybe you could address your sugar addiction through some therapy if you can't give it up. Are you sure you are tight enough? Julie

surgery in 9 days- getting nervous
Good for you making it through Easter. That would be really hard being on liquids. Congrats on your banding date. Good luck to you. Julie

Need some suggestions
I would listen to the gentleman above who weighed over 500 lbs. He would be the best candidate to answer your questions. Good luck. Julie

Frozen dinners
Yes, 220 with 15-20 grams of protein sound quite healthy. The only thing with frozen dinners you have to watch is the sodium. Good luck. Julie

Wisdom of your experience...
Randi, the thing I like most about being banded is the restriction. I know longer crave "bad" foods and when I do eat I eat a little quantity. That is what I love most. Good luck in your journey. Julie

Hoping to get the 'band'.
Dixie, good luck to you. I know how insurances can be. You just have to be patient. Mine was approved after they scheduled my surgery. That might make it faster for you. You can always postpone. Julie
