  1. I've heard that if you drink 1/2 cup every 1/2 hour you should be fine. Does your doctor allow you protein shakes? If so I would sip one of those thew first hour. That will really help. Julie
  2. Berry, it sounds like you are doing just fine and eating the right amount of food. Good for you. When you get restriction you will notice how much less you eat. It is good that you are preparing yourself nicely now. Way to go! Julie
  3. Julia, welcome to lapband talk forum. Congrats on being banded. You will love it. Julie
  4. Hi Robert, it sounds like you would be the perfect candidate for the band because you are so active. You should be fine. The only thing you should think about is that the port site can be injured or bruised. That is the only place I would be concerned about. It is just underneath the muscle about at the waist line. Good luck in your journey. I love my band. I will be banded a year in June. Its been great. I love the restriction that comes along with the band. I eat like a bird now. Julie
  5. My doctors philosphy is filling slowly. Truthfully, I wish he was a bit more agressive with his fills. It took me forever to get to my sweet spot. 8 months. Julie
  6. Hotpink, you will do great, just take it slow on the solids. You definitely need a fill so good luck. Julie
  7. Don't be surprised if you don't. It typically takes a few fills to feel the big difference.
  8. Not much bread but rice and pasta go down fine, in fact...too fine.
  9. Just stick to it now. I seriously doubt a week is going to make a difference on the diet. My surgeon doesn't even ask for one. Good luck.
  10. I agree with you. I would have come up with the money somehow.
  11. Keep your eye on the prize, it will be worth it.
  12. Yes, I love a good tri tip. Just make sure you cut the pieces the size of a pencil eraser and chew really well.
  13. I believe you are allowed tuna salad with mayo and chili.
  14. Yes, if you feel full and can't consume a ton of food and are losing you are at your sweet spot. YOu may find when you start losing weight that you need another fill. That is totally common. Congrats on bandland. Sounds like you are doing great. Welcome to a happy fill. Isn't it great not to b hungry!? Julie
  15. Becca, what types of proteins are you eating? Make sure they are solid proteins and not proteins like cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, protein drinks. They will keep you fulller longer. I had the same issue recently and when I spoke to my surgeon he said I was filled enough. I just wasn't eating enough solid protein. Good luck.
  16. Almond are my friend. Just a handful keep you full plus they have protein. Julie
  17. Hi Roger, welcome to lapband talk forum. I have been banded for 10 months now and I'm down over 50% of my goal. Congrats on getting banded.
  18. The procedure was pretty easy relatively speaking. I took 6 days off and had surgery on a Tuesday and was back to work on the following Monday. The only thing that was sore was the port site. I am considered a slow/average loser at 1 lb a week. I am down 52 lbs since last June. Julie
  19. Jen, welcome to bandland. Good luck with your surgery. Julie
  20. Sounds like your doctor is really booked up. You just have to stay patient. Good luck. I understand how you feel but mine only took 8 weeks.
  21. I added in some creamy soup and that helped me a lot. I just think you may need another fill.
  22. If you want my honest opinion if you don't get a fill I would definitely cut down a bit. Take out the bagel for sure and add protein, even a Protein shake would be good. You are eating too much food. 3oz of chicken and a 1/4 cup of pasta indicates that. I would say you should be eating no more than 2 oz of protein and not even be able to come close to eating the pasta. You also should be filled enough not to finish the green beans and aspargus, even though they are good for you. Trail mix is good. Almonds would be even better, just a few. Looks like you are carb loading a little later in the day. I woud say if anything maybe a 100 calorie bag of popcorn might be a better idea. It is quite filling. I hope this helps you. I stick to 800-1k calories a day and I am steady losing now. I really think you need a fill. It sounds like you are eating a lot. Good luck.
  23. Thanks. I am considering a small unfill. I miss eating food! Solids are really hard for me.
  24. Don't worry, the weight will come off after you get a fill. I gained 8 lbs between fills and it came off quickly with good restriction. Julie
  25. I have UHC and I didn't have to wait any time at all. Just make sure you check with the insurance company prior to enrollment. I didn't have a preop diet or anything. Good luck. Julie
