  1. I'm just curious what exacty you did to lose 5 more lbs? Good job.
  2. Berry, take it slow and easy. Try to keep you calorie intake to 1k a day before you get your fill. You should lose that way. Julie
  3. Be nice to yourself. Compliments are great. You probably did look bad before. At least now you don't. Julie
  4. Lauren, good job. How is it coming along for your surgery? Julie
  5. I ate a few days post op, some chicken. When I told the surgeon what I had done he was not happy. The sutures need to heal in place. He ordered a barrium swallow and the band was still in place. I immediately went back on the program. He scared me silly. Follow what your doctor advises. You can slip your band early on. Good luck.
  6. I am very happy with my lapband experience as well. My only regret is that my doctor is very conservative at giving fills. He starts really slowly then adds in more and more saline as time moves on. It took me 8 months to finally get to my sweet spot. I am losing 1 lb a week so I am encouraged to keep going. I am a slow loser. I have lost 52 lb in 10 months. 1 more year and I should be at goal. Another 50 please. Julie
  7. Krystal, thank you for your honest and candid post. I felt like I was living your life with you. You are not alone. I am really glad that you went in for a sanity check and got another fill. One of the reasons you were able to eat around the band is you probably didn't have good enough restriction early on. Cut out drinking with meals and with a little better restriction you should be on your way. You can do this. Julie
  8. I would give it a couple weeks. I remember being really sore at the port site. Take your tylenol! Julie
  9. I stayed overnight but my doctor now only does outpatient.
  10. Julie, being banded is a true blessing in disguise. I love having restriction. I eat like a bird now and its great. I've had 5 fills since last June. Recently I lost 15 more lbs since 1/11 due to better restriction. Good luck to you. Julie
  11. Hi, I live in San Jose, CA. If you can't find a surgeon, Dr. McKeen in San Jose is wonderful. He is available 24x7 for his patients just by calling his cell phone. He did my surgery 10 months ago. My stats are similar to yours. I had a BMI of 40 at 282 5'8. My goal is 175-80. You will probably lose faster than I have because it sounds like you exercise a lot. Good luck to you. Julie
  12. Margi, congrats on getting banded tomorrow . It will change your life. Julie
  13. Do you kmow what your BMI is? You may have to go to Mexico for the surgery. They do lower BMI patients. Julie
  14. Ana, Dr. McKeen is the best. I'm a patient of his too. Julie
  15. You're very welcome. Congrats on getting banded. You can do this! Julie
  16. $325 is a lot. I pay $200 per fill.
  17. It sounds like you are trying to eat like a bandster. You are eating too much food though. I can only eat about 1/2 of a cup at a time. Once you get good restriction you shouldn't be able to eat more than 1 cup of food. I can only eat 1/2 of a slice of pizza then I have to wait to finish it. Good luck with your fill. Julie
  18. Good luck with your pregnancy. How exciting. Julie
  19. You have the option of not getting a fill at 6 weeks if you are losing steadily. If you feel like you are consuming too much you definitely need a fill. Good luck. Julie
  20. I can't be an all or nothing bandster. That is why I was banded. I ate 1/2 of a slice of pizza last night and was stuffed. If you eat what you want and not go over your daily caloric intake you should be fine. Happy pizza. Julie
  21. Ryan, it is very likely that the fill did nothing. It took me 5 fills to get to my sweet spot. I don't have a 4cc band but from what I have read on the posts most restriction comes between 2 and 3ccs. I would call your doctor and schedule another fill. My doctor makes you wait 2 weeks. As far as your calories go you are eating like a bandster. I'm surprised you aren't losing at least 1 lb a week. I plateaued at 1k calories for 2 weeks. I bumped up the exercise this week to 20 min on my treadmill 3 x plus some ab work and I lost 3 lbs. You can do this! Julie
  22. My surgeon recommends keeping the calories between 800-1k a day. You will lose consistently that way. Julie
  23. Welcome to lapband talk forum. Congrats on making this life changing decision. Julie
  24. Flossie, congrats on getting banded. It will change your life. Julie
