Jennifer was off a couple of days last week, I played a lot of phone tag myself. She usually follows through, she is a very busy woman. I just wish we could book all our own appts. I find some hard to keep and have to reschedule..

Wow that is hard to take. I guess we all just expect easy fix which I know is not the case with Lap band but still always hope right? Singing when are you scheduled again? I have a bad memory, I'm sorry! It looks like my date of May 13th is still a go. Saw my PCP looks like my EKG is Normal. Thank god! Don't know what the sleep study considered a 2nd degree block though. My doctor was kind of pissed and she is having a cardiologist read my EKG today. Huge relief as I thought I was going to need a pacemaker. I'm feeling better about the surgery and will call Dr. R. again on Monday and confirm it's a go once we have an answer from the Cardiologist. They also switched me to the Brigham instead of Faulkner. I said I really want a private room and she said she would request one. I guess I should ask If I will have to pay extra for this small luxury! TGIF, hope everyone is enjoying it!- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Thanks everyone for your kind words and making me feel more comfortable. I met with Dr. Robinson this afternoon and he did put me more at ease with being sedated and issues with sleep apnea. As of right now I am still scheduled for May 13. He hasn't put me on the pre op diet yet because something else came up today during my visit. I guess my sleep study also showed a cardiac issue, don't know much more than that. A second degree heart block which is giving me an irregular heart beat. It sounds alot more serious than it is I think. So now I may need to see a cardiologist AND he wants me set up with cpap all before surgery. So I am glad he is taking precautions as I would rather be safe and put off surgery than rush into anything. This is such an emotional roller coaster.- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Good job on the 5k.. I see doctor R. tomorrow afternoon for a weigh in. I honestly haven't been trying as I have been back and forth with my decision to go through with this. I was diagnosed with not mild, nor moderate, but severe apnea. 60 times an hour which is once every minute. No wonder I'm always sooo freiken exhausted!! Not to mention my narrow airway, combined with what she said I may have a harder time waking up. I'm scared out of my mind for this reason only. I'm starting to feel selfish as I have a 4 yr. old and a 2 yr. old that depend on me for everything. I know some of you have small children and had the surgery. Please tell me this is normal to feel and everyone goes through it. My surgery date is scheduled in a couple of weeks and don't know if I'm mentally ready. I know I've posted this before I'm sorry, just freaking out a little, ok a LOT!! I believe best of luck with everything and I hope you are feeling better.- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Hi K8, I'm the same as you, I'm just over 40 BMI with no other issues, He told me to lose 15-20 lbs and I've only lost like 3 and have been approved for a surgery date. I'm going to try to lose a little more before my next appt. in a couple of weeks. The only reason he would say I woudn't be able to have surgery, is because my Upper GI showed some different anatomy and he said it "shouldn't" be an issue but needed to discuss with his colleagues. I've been scheduled for surgery for May 13th as of today. Less than a month and from my previous post I am scared out of my mind but I know deep down, I really do need this. My husband and mom are both supportive of me and are the only people that will know this is happening. So Jenn did book me but said she needs to send a request in to the anasthesiologist. Things are moving pretty fast. I'm Holding on tight! Singing, how did your appt. go? I believe it was yesterday If I'm not mistaken!- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Thanks Paige for your support.. again! I guess my fear is more of the nervousness type and the fact of being a mom and being put under really scares me too! I tried calling Jenn to see what is up cuz she never called me back and she was like well we have an opening for this friday. I was like thanks but no thanks!! We'll see what he says at my next appt. in a couple of weeks. Still waiting to hear back from Jenn on dates, I don't want to keep bugging her. Jay hope you tell those phone people where to go.. ha ha Singing, let us know how your next appt. goes. I won't be able to make the brigham meeting this month. It's my son's birthday ) Have a great day all, it's gorgeous out there!!- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
That's awesome Msdollaz. Very happy for you! Singing, sorry you have to push out your date, it's only 1 more week ) Jay I'm sorry you are having a hard time. They say it gets easier. Hang in there! L2T7 I love hearing what you have to say, you are so postive and very encouraging! great job on your training! I tenatively have my surgery date for June. I may try to get it done a little earlier. I feel like I'm starting to chicken out. I'm terrifed that I won't be able to do this and I will fail once again, like so many other things in my life. I'm having a hard time right now as I have a lot of things going on in my life and I almost feel emotionally drained don't know if having surgery right now will be a good thing or a bad thing. I'll keep ya posted ) Sandy- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
That stinks, can you call if you haven't already? Are you able to find info on their website? Best of luck!- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Dr. Robinson, said lets book a date, talk to jennifer on your way out. That's how it worked for me. Did you have your 2nd appt. with him?- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Just wanted to share, I got my letter today from Blue Cross and I have been "approved" for surgery. )- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Singing I had my sleep study friday night and you weren't kidding. It took about an hour to hook me all up, by the time I got all tucked in it was probably close to 11:30. I slept but pretty much didn't move cuz everytime I did something wasn't picking up and I would get woken up anyway. I was put on cpap around 2:30 and slept till they woke me up at 6. It wasn't the best experience but they were so nice and the tech had me laughing so that helped me relax. So no I just meet with Dr. R the end of April to see if my June 10th surgery date is a go. Hope you are all enjoying the weather.. yah right! Although yesterday was nice ) Jay how are you doing? Haven't heard from you. Hope things are getting easier. Welcome to the board K8 and surfergirl )- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Heidi, have a wonderful trip and PLEASE bring back some warm weather!! Enjoy! Paige, great pic. You look amazing and are truly an inspiration to me. Congrats.- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
So I had my appt. today and all went well. Lugged both kiddos with me and was only 5 minutes late, but the pt at the desk made me 15 minutes late cuz she was too busy complaining about traffic and she was on her way out of her appt. not in. Upper GI showed some issues but nothing major and he has to bring it up with his colleages to see if I am even a candidate now. He said it may complicate surgery but he doesn't think it should be a problem. Complicate and Surgery are not 2 words I like to hear in the same sentence. I go back in a month to confirm things and a tenative surgery date has been scheduled for June 10. He said I could have it as early as May but a few more weeks won't hurt. One thing he didn't mention at all is my sleep study which I'm scheduled for this friday. I really have no desire to do this last thing, and since he didn't mention it I kind of want to just cancel it. I still have 2 more days. That's my scoop, hope everyone is doing well. Board has been quiet. Sandy- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
thanks ladies :frown:)- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Hi Singing, I'm sorry you had to go through that, I hope you are feeling better. Good luck with your upcoming appointments. I'm seeing Dr. R on Tues. Can someone please tell me where I need to go at the Brigham? My first appt. was at the faulkner. Thanks Sandy- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Hey Everyone, Hope it was a good meeting last night. I definitely thought of you all and was looking forward to meeting some new faces as I still don't know names to screen names. It was just a busy day and I really didn't want to make the hike into boston. I work in Boston, so if I get the chance to stay home one night I will! Anyhow, I have my 2nd appt. with Dr. R on Monday. I wanted to ask what that is like, as I may have to lug the lil ones with me. Ages 3 and 2. Is it mostly just a weigh in and possibly a surgery date? I can't bear the thought of them tearing up the lobby just waiting for me to get in. Also, I have no excuse but I haven't lost much weight this month. Does that effect getting a surgery date? I know they want to make sure you are serious about this before going in. Ahh the weight saga continues!- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Great job Heidi, I know how plateaus can be frustrating!!! Maybe you body just needs you to mix it up a little, just like the class. Keep up the good work!! Try to stay positive! Best of luck!! :crying:- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
singing, I had my upper gi and psych eval at the brigham. I will most likely have surgery at the faulkner for the private room when and if I get a date..- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Hey Singing, thanks for sharing your experience. I had my psych appt. and my upper GI on Monday and scheduled my sleep study for a couple of weeks. I do know what's entailed but man I don't know if I'll be able to sleep. I may have to show up with a couple glasses of wine in me. That might help out! I'm not doing so good on the weight loss. I think I'm only down like 4 lbs and I need to step it up cuz I'm meeting Dr. Robinson in less than 2 weeks for my follow up. My gym membership is almost expiring, may need to join a new gym and get motivated. The warm weather this past weekend did help a little but then the damn snow showed it's face again! Monday I had my upper gi and it was bad but not as horrible as I remember cuz the barium they use now is not as bad as it used to be, so I made it through with out throwing up..LOL The worst part was the wait. My appt. was for 9:15 and with the snow I was only 10 minutes late, not bad considering it took me over an hour to get there, then they had me wait for over an hour and I finally said what is the problem, I have another appt. to go to, apparently 3 of us were all there for the same thing, all booked at 9:15 and were being squeezed in between inpatients. I thought I was sent to "OUTpatient" x-ray. Very Frustrating. They seemed so confused there. During my procedure, my tech up and left and I got a new one to finish, and not to mention the people that kept coming in and out, good thing I was covered! So I'm hoping for a may date too. Sigh.. the things we do to be skinny! :mad2:- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Hi all, I plan on attending the meeting. I won't be able to make the April meeting cuz my lil guy turns 4 on the same day ) I'm trying to learn all I can before I book a surgery date :crying:)- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Hey Singing, I was told the sleep study people would call me too, that was almost 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard a thing. I've been playing phone tag with jenn to get my info straight so I can put in my referrals. Nothing was said about the sleep study. (Not looking forward to it) I do have my psych and upper gi appt. scheduled for monday morn. Not looking forward to drinking that nasty stuff. Looks like you and me are in the same boat. I've only lost like 3 lbs but it's a start and I haven't been perfect. I'm hoping for 10 by my next weigh in a few weeks.- Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
Where is everyone? Snow bound I'm sure. The boards have been quiet lately. Hope everyone is well! Come on Spring - Brigham and Women's in boston
Hi there. There is a thread already dedicated just for the Brigham and faulkner. I just met with Dr. Robinson this week for my first appt. If everything goes according to plan he is saying May/June for a band date. Come over and meet the newbies, and the veterans all from Brigham. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f42/brigham-women-faulker-hospital-56468/ - Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
