-
To fill or not to fill, that is the question!
Bigpapa2, Those are also some very good points that have to be conssidered.Your right there are so many variables!! BTW great job on your awesome weightloss!!

To fill or not to fill, that is the question!
My guess based on your weightloss thus far is that they wont give you a fill. But every doc is different. My surgeon watches for the weightloss to slow down before she fills. She says it's better to be underfilled and have to add then to get overfilled and have to take away! Good luck to you & great job so far!!

big trouble
I too gained during my pre-surgery process. The surgeon made me lose 10 lbs prior to surgery or else she was going to postpone my surgery date. She was concerned about damage to my liver.I did lose the 10lbs in about a week on a liquid diet!

Regular water vs. crystal light
I too went crazy wiith the crystal light pre-surgery but now feel like it's a little too sweet.Does anyone drink diet snapple or the diet ice tea's?? I really like them but I dont know since they do have caffeine in them?? BTW I just tried an Atkins mocha latte protein shake 160 cals 15 grams protein 2 grams sugar it was sooo good!!

gallbladder and lapband
My surgeon put my band on the left side in anticipation of a future gallbladder removal! So yes I think it's very common!

Nov 10th 2008 Bandsters
I had surgery 11/11/08 and I'm done almost 50 lbs! The first 2 months were very easy and the last month or so has been more of a struggle with food choices & amount of food.I do have restriction because if I eat to fast I will PB.But other times I amaze myself of how much I can eat? I see the surgeon in 2 weeks so I'll see then what she recommend's.I have a total of 4 cc's.Best luck to everyone!!
-
Hi!
That sounds like restriction to me.Has your weightloss stopped or slowed down? Why do you think you need a fill? If I had some kind of restriction & no appetite I dont think the surgeon would give me a fill.If your still losing I wouldn't rock the boat, ride it out! You dont want to be too tight!
-
Hi!
Does food ever get stuck? do you feel tighness after eating? how do you know when to stop eating??
-
Hi!
Cutetoilet Wow awesome job on the weightloss! Do you have pretty good restriction?? do you exercise alot?? Enlighten us!!:wink2:I'm very eager to hear from those who have gone on before!!
-
I had the most lovely experience today
It's sooo crazy how you can almost know as your swallowing"wow that's gonna get stuck!".It's happened to me quite a few time's but it usually passes very quickly.Lunch meat, cheese & crackers........that's the combo that usually gets me stuck almost every time! I dont know if I'm just too excited or what! LOL ! It's like slow down,it's not your last meal!! Crazy!!

Weight Loss slowing...trying to stay motivated
Agentcmc, We are totally in the same boat.Although I had surgery about one month before you.My weightloss was extremely quick in the beginning and now has come to almost a halt. I too am struggling with motivation and feeling kinda lost. Those old habits die hard & sure want to creep back in.I'm been thinking pretty seriously about joining weight watchers just to have a way of tracking my food intake & that way I can take more responsiblilty for my not losing. Hang in there! Your not alone!!

Should I get a friend to hide my scale for me?
I love this! It is soo true.I too was having a horrible addiction to my scale.I've been weighing every day & even sometimes mutiple times in one day. Finally today I said enough! I weighed, wrote it on the calendar and threw the scale under the sink.I'm not weighing until next monday.I cant take the ups & downs anymore!! I feel much better about it now!:w00t:

Band Pain???
That would be restriction talking! I get the same feeling.I get chest pain & shoulder pain & back pain when I've eaten too much sometimes it comes 10 mins later after eating. So the trick for me is to stop when I know I should and then I dont get to that miserable over stuffed feeling!

Favorite "post-band" chain restaurant?
I'm down with anywhere I can get breakfast foods, omelets & stuff.I like this place called Mimi's,they have an awesome breakfast quiche!! (dont know how low cal it is?) but it's soo good!!:tt2:

CPAP crap!
Mandilou, I totally know what you mean about the cpap machine, they are a b@#$@!!Why do you have to wear it before the surgery? If they know you have sleep apnea why is so crucial for you to wear it? I too had SEVERE sleep apnea.I had to have like 3 or 4 sleep studies. The first one I didn't even sleep at all that night because the machine was making me feel so anxious & like I couldn't breathe. What kind of a mask did they give you? Because I was a "mouth-breather",most people that snore are.The first mask they put on me was a full mask that covered my nose & mouth, talk about freaking out! I actually had the sleep apnea surgery and still had to wear the cpap!! Talk about depressing!! But they finally gve me a nasal pillow mask that just kind of goes in your nose not over it or over your mouth,so much better! And the really great thing is now that I'm 3 months out and down 50 lbs my husband says I'm not snoring or gasping or sputtering anymore!!:w00t:And I cant tell you how happy I was to dismantle that machine and throw it under the bed!! After struggling to sleep with it for 2 years!!:tt2: So hang in there!! I know this soounds bad but does the thing actually have to be on your face to log in the hours? or could you let in run on the nightstand next to your bed??:wink2:Just a thought! I know it's kinda dishonest but desparate times call for desparate measures!!

Got the munchies??
Thanks Misty!! Those were awesome words of encouragement. You know how sometimes you already know the truth but hearing someone else tell you reconfirms!! Thanks. So hard as a new "bandster" to not get discouraged and I keep waiting for this to fail me like all my other diet attempts!!:tt2:

Does any one have regrets on being banded?
Wannabskinny, Sorry your frustrated & having such a hard time. What does your doc say?Hang in there it's bound to get better.I noticed our dates are around the same time. The first 2 months were pretty easy for me,but now I seem to be stuck at some kind of a plateau.......so hang in there....were all in this together!:tt2:

8 months out--Need Advice
Wow guys sorry about the frustration......I too am feeling a little frustrated too.I'm little over 3 months out the first 2 months were pretty easy as far as weighloss.I had good restriction & was not all that hungry. Then I got stuck at 207! For like 3weeks to a month.I just got a fill on the 11th,I had a hard time with this fill as I was sick. Now I'm feeling better but not so sure about this restriction. It's like all of a sudden I'm at a standstill and I feel like now what I was or wasn't doing before is not working. I find myself hungrier & able to eat more.I'm looking for Snacks.....it's frustrating.......I dont know if I need to give this fill a little while longer or if I need another one??This is what I was afraid of.......getting stuck! I know I might be getting a little prematuely worked up as some of you have been dealing with this longer but none the less it's still makes you want to pull your hair out!!:tt2:

Got the munchies??
Just a question I just had a fill last wednesday and I've been noticing ever since I've been getting the munchies.I do have some restriction not as good as the first 2 months and I will feel it if I overdue it.But if I'm at proper restriction should I still find myself wanting to munch??Or even with proper restriction do we still have to battle urges like this, like before surgery??:cursing:Any advice.......feeling a little frustrated!! BTW I just started back on birth control this month so I dont know if that could have anything to do with these "new" cravings?

bypass vs. banding???
I originally started out thinking of bypass or gastric sleeve or lap band,I was open.Once all procedure were explained with pro's & con's my surgeon highly recomended lap band for me.Before the band I had SEVERE IBS(I was living on immodium,it was sooooo bad:crying:)He felt the bypass was not good to mess with my intestines since I was already prone to severe diarrhea(sorry if TMI).The sleeve he'd only performed 12.So I didn't want to be lucky #13.Plus the idea of them removing part of your stomach and throwing it away really creeped me out! I have a co-worker & friend who did bypass with the same surgeon 2 weeks prior to me.She has lost more weight than me and alot quicker. She also has been hospitalized for severe dehydration and has problems with low blood work and severe constipation! So there is 2 sides to every story. And one surgery is not right for everyone. I had a sucessful bander tell me that at least when the bypass people stomach streches back out we(banded) can have our's tightened! Made alot of sense to me!! I want a tool that keeps on working for me,the long term is what I'm concerned about not a quick overnight fix!! So we'll see........no regrets for me so far!!:blushing:
