big trouble

hi everyone,

ok i am in big trouble..........been going to pcp doctor every month for 6 months now. (have done all the other testing). i gained 10 pound in the last 6 months due to just not watching, no one told me i had to lose weight.

( i changed doctors after my 5th month due to no one getting back to me on difference things). duh should have known!! oh doctors name dr colella (pittsburgh)...there office was awful.

now going to dr ramanathan (much better with info).

new doctors just informed me on weight loss, now i might have to go another 3 months before surgery.

big chance of being turned down. i am so upset.

has anyone else had this problem? any advice would be great!

thanks

Keep your fingers crossed...

I also gained on my 6mo diet - but Humana approved me with no problem.

I'm currently on the pre-op diet with a surgery date of 03/11.

Good Luck!!

I too gained during my pre-surgery process. The surgeon made me lose 10 lbs prior to surgery or else she was going to postpone my surgery date. She was concerned about damage to my liver.I did lose the 10lbs in about a week on a liquid diet!

I used Atkins Advantage Protein Shakes. They're really good. I'm 4 mos. post-band and I still have one for Breakfast. I lost 11# in 8 days drinking 6 shakes a day!

Best of luck to you!

I did not lose weight in my six month diet either, and Aetna approved me with no problems. If your other paperwork is in order you will probably be fine.

thanks everyone,

i am keeping my fingers crossed!

i lost 30 pounds before surgery and was approved. i gained 10 back due to meidcation and i am sure youll be approved! Good luck and if you have to do 3 more month just think its only 3 more months! I had to do 6 months also and aetna approved me. I would think 10 pounds would show them you need the surgery badly!

Oh, Malissa! Our surgery date is the same date!!!! You are the first person who I've run into with the same date. I will be in Denver. Where will you be?

Hi Maestrita!

I'm so excited about next week. I can't wait.

I have stuck faithfully to my pre-op diet and I'm down 15lbs!

My surgury is in St.Petersburg, FL.

Good Luck to you!!

Malissa I am being banded 3/11 also and I am in Florida. Good luck next week

Yeah, LouandBoosMom! We all share a band-birthday! I will add you to my prayer on our day. We are going to be so happy and skinny! Whoo-hooo!

Your insurance approval will depend on your comorbidities and how well your testing indicates the need for surgery. You may or may not need to show weight loss....don't loose hope. BTW I had my surgery done at AGH, Dr Uchal and I have done all my followups with Colella and he quit last week! He went to UPMC and AGH is suing him for breach of contract....The place may become a nightmare....I may stick with them as until now I have been half pleased with aftercare....we will see! Good Luck

I am not sure of your insurance but when I first started my process to get a approved I was with Cigna and they required I had to be under a Dr's care for 6 months. I changed Dr.'s a couple of times and did not have 6 months in a row. Then my company change the insurance in Jan/09 to Aetna and they required 3 months I had my dr that was trying to get me approve for my band just summit all of my paper work for all of my Drs. and they came back and approved me and I was banded on 03/30/09. Good luck and keep your head up it will all work out.:tt1:
