I have Aetna and was approved very quickly. I think they will approve you. If you are just missing one year, and you had a BMI of 40 or more the year prior, chances are they will assume you didn't loose a drastic amount of weight within one year to drop your BMI and then gain it all back within the same year to get back to the BMI of 40 or more. I think you'll be ok! Call your doc, they probably deal with this kind of thing all the time and will tell you what they think! Good luck!!!

ummm......I went to my seminar on 12/8/08 and was lucky enough to get someone who canceled there evaluation a few days later. So the eval is no biggie at all! You sit with the psychologist, nutritionist, and then Pam O'brien who kinda heads up the whole program. If its not Pam then it will probably be another Nurse Practitioner. You will probably be there like 3-4 hours. Before you even see any of those people pam sat down with me and another man and went into futher explanation of the procedures. I had to do a 3 month supervised with my dietician...from start to finish I started in Dec and my surgery is in June

I've always been overweight, but I got fat when I fell in love! I was 5'5 and 190, my boy friend (now husband) was 6'4 280 and I thought for some reason I could eat everything he ate, and the same amounts. Needless to say that is why I am FAT!!!

Hey Tiffany!!!!! Congrats on getting your date! My date is 6/19! I was watching Dr. Oz today and he said if you can't do anything else just commit to walking 30 minutes per day! They showed someone he helped that lost soooo much weight doing that!!! You can do it girl!

Hey! I am having it done at Lahey Burlington, my date is June 19th. I have Dr. Sillin. He has been doing the lapband for years but is new to the hospital and had the most availability so that is why I went with him. So far so good I love lahey! Are you seeing Karen Palmer the dietician or the other dietician??? Go ahead and ask me anything you want I am an open book!

I attended my seminar 12/8/2008 and am being banded 6/19/2009 so exactly 6 months, 11 days! It flew by so fast with all the things you have to do prior. It might be faster for you if you are self pay!

This past month I started back to the gym, and I am doing really well. I got 5 times a week if my schedule allows but at the very minimum I go 4 times a week. I usually do 2 hours of cardio. Sometimes however, I feel like stopping and going home and I was just wondering if anyone has an tips on how they push themselves to keep going when they feel like giving up? I thought it would be nice to get some tips! Thanks in advance!

I really do like them both but I tend to go for the elliptical because I burn more calories on it in the same amount of time that I would use the treadmill. I don't kill myself exercising but I spend one hour each on the machines and do 4 miles and 400 calories on the elliptical and 2.5 miles and 250 calories on the treadmill.

Oh my gosh! In every way shape and form you just described my own situation! My husband and I were both smaller when we got together. I got up to 250 and he got up to 350. I started talking about the band about 1 year ago and he was super hesitant at first, then he warmed up to it but had no desire to have it himself. Which was fine by me. But he didn't seem to want to change at all! I mean he stops at the store all the time and will come home with like the super size 2 ding dong things, a huge bage of doritos and a toll house cookie icecream and he will eat that all himeself! That is minimal to what he usually eats! I really thought all hope was lost and so I just started focusing on myself. Eating right, going to the gym. I never thought he would change his mind, but all of the sudden he went to the grocery store and came home with all this healthier food and has started eating better! I don't know what happened, I think he is just following my example! Give that a try, or at least keep it up if you are doing it, hopefully he'll come around!!!!

I am pro life. I just don't think people should be able to end a life. I feel the same for the death penatly as well. I know lots of people disagree with me and that is ok, I repsect that. That is just my personal feelings.

WOW! That is awesome! I didn't even know that they did that. What makes your qualify, is it your lower BMI? I hope it all goes well for you so that they don't have to make additional incisions!
