Lady Lap Band

you sound just like me I was banded 6/19 and I can pretty much eat anything as long as I chew it wicked good. My first fill is July 21st. I lost 12lbs after 1 week post op and so far just one more additional lb. As far as I have heard lots of people are having the same problem they arent loosing anymore. We need a fill! as far as gaining I only notice it when I get crazy and weigh everday but if I weigh once a week it pretty much stays the same.

I really want to do this! I have been thinking about it since before my surgery. I am not even 2 weeks post op but feeling great! I think I am going to wait one more week and then give the program a try!

It seems like everytime I put something in my stomach I get this tight feeling, not like a restricted feeling bc I have nothing in my band but like a bloated feeling.....then I burp and it happens everytime. Is that normal or is it just something that happens to us bandsters??? Anyone come up with a way to decrease it a bit??

I am 9 days post op now....I am on week 2 of my liquidy diet....I am allowed to eat things like sherbert, yogurt, pudding, and creamy soups. I am a little worried because I've been hearing people say that even though they don't get a restricted feeling they are getting full and I am not! My first fill is July 21st which is exactly 4 weeks post op. Do you think I'll notice a difference then? I'm so terrified that I was just cut open and expected to feel hugely different and I don't feel different at all! I need some words of encouragement!

hey all! I am 1 week post op today and am down 12lbs since! I am finally starting to feel normal again, yay!!! Can't wait till I can start really working out again!

hey guys.... I had my surgery last friday so I am 6 days post op.....when I went to the hospital last Friday morning I was starving lol but ever since I was banded I have not had an single little hint of a hungry grumble in my stomach....I am not complaining it makes me happy! lol But is it normal??

Surgery Date Friday June 19, 2009 I arrived at the hospital at 5:45am and was taken to change and then I waited on a bed for my anesthesiologist, nurse, and surgeon to come and talk to me prior to the surgery. They all came as expected and the anesthesiologist started my IV and gave me some medicine to calm my nerves, I didn’t have nerves, but I didn't object to the medicine lol. Right after they gave me the meds they rolled me into the operating room and they lifted me onto the operating table. They strapped me in and put a mask of just pure oxygen on my face and then the anesthesia said he was going to put medicine in my IV and I was going to go to sleep and then I said "Ok goodnight" lol. I woke up in a recovery room....it took me a long time to actually open my eyes although I was awake. I was so groggy from the anesthesia I was like trying to fall back to sleep lol. Eventually I opened my eyes but I had a hard time taking deep breaths because my port incision was killing me!! The nurse gave me lots of meds and it got better. I stayed there for 3 hours because they had a hard time finding a room. Around 1:30 I finally got put into my own room. From then on they just came in on a regular basis to check my vitals and give me pain meds as needed. I had some pain in my chest so they did an EKG but it came back normal, I am sure it was just the gas. The next day I didn't go home until around 7:30pm because I was having a little more pain than normal and they just wanted to make sure it was manageable before they sent me on my way, but I was finally ok and went home!

hmmmm my parents (bc I live with them) and my husband are the only ones I have told about my banding. I told work that I was getting a hiatled hernia reparied. I kind of subtly set them up for me loosing some weight....I said that after I have it repaired I have to loose weight or it will come back and I also told them that they are putting me on a soft mushy special diet while my hernia heals so that I don't damage it. I dont make a habit out of telling people things that arent true but its no ones business what I am doing and this was the only way I could think they wouldnt know

they put the camera in your belly button, I only found this out when I woke up with my belly button glued shut and I was like ummmm why did they do this lol. Mine is not pussing though you should call and ask, you want to make sure it isnt infected. I think I am feeling the same gas pains you are in your stomach that arent moving. I am passing gas very minimally and I'm just tight and super uncomfortable in my stomach area. I am going to the dr. friday and I am going to ask her about it then.

I am being banded tomorrow as well! 6/19/09 I have to be at the hospital at 5:45am for a 7:30am surgery! I am really excited! Good Luck

Thanks guys! I guess I am not like the average american these days who likes to be tan tan tan! I prefer not to go into the sun, I'm a fanatic about my skin for some reason. After I am done with the prescribed vitamin d I will continue to take a vitamin d over the counter.

I got a letter in the mail from my doctor....it was regarding the blood work I had for my upcoming surgery June 19th. This is what the letter says... "Dear Breanne, I am writing in reference to recent laboratory tests. Your vitamin D was low and requires short term nutritional support with extra vitamin D. Enclosed please find a prescription for vit D (aka ergocalciferol); follow the label directions for use. It is important to have a repeat laboratory test on the vitamin D level 4 weeks after you start the supplement. I have enclosed a laboratory slip as a reminder to have this completed. If you have any questions please feel free to call me." I can't call because it's the weekend. Do you think this is the kind of thing that would postpone the surgery?? I'm not really sure how vitamin D could affect the surgery. Please tell me what you think! :blushing:

What? I am going to see my surgeon on Tuesday that will be 10 days prior to my surgery which will be my last chance to ask him any questions. I am not good at thinking of questions....the only one I can come up with is "Where are you going to put my port?" So can you all help me out with questions you wish you thought to ask now before you were banded? Thanks!

Cherri sent me a link to this really cool site...its a program called Couch to 3K.....I was going to start is once I am healed from my surgery. Maybe we should make a thread of it and whoever wants to join in can? Might be fun!
