  1. is yur start weight suppose to be like your weight when you started the challenge or your overall start weight??
  2. i added myself that is sooo cool I never knew you could do spreadsheets like that on google! LOVE IT!
  3. oooo I LOVE this challenge......My birthday is Nov. 23rd and I had already told myself I was going to be 199 by my birthday so I have 30lbs to loose.....that could happen right??
  4. I dont think that is normal! Call your doc! I have heard things similar and those ended up having a band that had slipped! Search for the member Corliss, she had a band that slipped you should ask her!
  5. Blue I dont think you will ever regret getting the band its an amazing tool that just enhances your life! Let us know how the surgery goes!! Good Luck!
  6. Liz do it it I am so serious do it! Your level of happiness sounds just like mine was before surgery. My husband also was originally against (although he isn't fit) but he came around. What makes me happy makes him happy. Also, the Band is a slow progression so its not as life alterating as gastric. The band needs adjustments and it happens slowly so it gives you, and your husband, time to adjust to the changes happening in your life. Do it do it do it and I dont think you will ever regret it. =)
  7. i was a diet coke a holic before surgery. I have not had any soda since surgery and i honeslty cant believe it lol but the carbonation is the best so I dont want to drink it flat
  8. I stayed overnight. When I mentioned to my doctor that I was reading about A LOT of people who did not have to stay overnight, he thought that was crazy!!!
  9. Did you do weight watchers or anything else that would have recorded your weight in that time period? If you did I am pretty sure insurance accepts things like that. Cant wait to hear about your appt on 9/15!
  10. i saw a dietician who said I needed to loose 10% of my weight before I could have the surgery, but I actually ended up gaining 2lbs and still had the surgery so I would say no I didnt have one.
  11. I totally understand not wanting to tell your hubby. I didn't want to tell anyone, but I ended up having to tell my mom, dad, and husband (bc I live with all of them). At first my husband didn't like it, then he didn't like it but was like "whatever you want to do", and then he didn't care either way, and now seems to be just fine with it. I think you could just keep going along with it and not tell him, but its going to be tough to explain why you can eat only a very small amount and why you get full so fast. I think you can do it, but I think it would make your life easier to tell him. Would it make him more upset to find out before you do it or like 6 months after you do it??
  12. that is sooooooo exciting!!! congrats!
  13. I was given Roxicet to go home with (which is liquid percicet) and it made me very very nausus. I called they switched me to good old vicidin which was not in liquid form. I just cut the pill in half and it went down fine. Now I take adult lquid tylenol when I need some pain meds, works great.
  14. I went to my seminar on Dec. 8th 2008 and originally was told Aetna was one of the harder insurances to get to cover this surgery. I'm not really sure why I was told that though, I had no problems at all. The hospital submitted my request for surgery after I had completed the 3 months, and then Aetna requested a few more pieces of paperwork (which I was told was normal) and then I got the letter saying that I was approved. I paid absolutly nothing out of pocket, nothing for any visits or anything. I feel like Aetna gave me this amazing free gift lol and I love them so much for it haha. I know plenty of other people who have Aetna as well and had no problems getting them to cover the lap band. You do however have to have a BMI of at least 40 or a minimum of 35 with other co morbitities. Feel free to contact me if there are any other questions you think I can answer for you. Check out my blog too because you might find some other answers to questions you might have!!!! Good Luck!!!!
  15. I would say I am eating between 700-900 def not over 900. I just got my 1st fill and feel no different from before I got it. I only got 2 1/2ccs in a 10cc band.
  16. I went to the docs on Tuesday. Lets rewind at my 1 week post op visit they told me at my 4 week post op visit I would be getting my 1st adjustment. So Tuesday the doctor took a whole 3 minutes to ask me how I was and then said "so at your next appt you'll get your 1st adjustment" and I was like "WHAT!" Long story short he went and chit chatted with the Nuse Practitioner and then she came in and gave me my fill! Thank goodness bc I totally didn't drive 40 minutes to tell my doctor in 3 minutse that I was feeling good! Anyway for anyone concerned it was SOOO MUCH EASIER THAN GETTING YOUR BLOOD DRAWN! It was so painless. It took a total of maybe 30 seconds for it to go in and out. I was waiting for the pain and literally there was none and I had no numbing cream! They put 2 1/2cc's in my 10cc band, I can't say I feel differently. I guess it can take up to 2 weeks to feel restriction, can someone explain that one to me? Anyway I think I feel less hungry though. And I lost almost 3lbs in 2 days I went from 239.7 to 237.2. I get my 2nd fill on Aug 14th!!!
  17. i dont think you are doing anything wrong...i dont think one fill does much at all!
  18. I'm glad things went well for you! I wish that was the case for everyone! I know many people have no problems and hardly any pain but that wasn't me! I'm great now but man o man I was awful the 1st week post op. Maybe my pain tolerance isnt so hot!!
  19. This varies from person to person.... My experience right after surgery was that I felt full after eating 7-8oz. However, I only did that one time. I typically eat about 4oz and don't feel full, but don't feel hungry either. I had my first fill yesterday and still feel the same as I did without a fill. They did say though that it could take up to 2 weeks before you start to feel any restriction from a fill.
  20. My surgeon had told my husband that he had put some saline in my band after I had the surgery, however I had my first fill yesterday and come to find out all it really was, was he put some Fluid in the tubing to make sure it all works good. I think that is what most surgeons do. Most dont put fluid in bc it needs to heal properly But like I said that is only most every surgeon is sooooooooooo different! I wrote a whole blog about my fill exerpeince yesterday....here's a link. www.ladylapband.com they put 2 1/2 cc's on my 10cc band
  21. i say amen to new addictions lol id rather shopping and exercising be my addiction which I am sure they will be! i think its natural bc now you look good and you want to stay that way!
  22. i normally breathe shallow as well I woke up braething so shallow from surgery bc it hurt to take deep breathes I kept making the machines I was hooked up to beep and the nurse had to keep telling me take deep breathes breanne take deep breathes lol it gets better!
  23. you will feel a huge difference once you hit a week post op! I felt like I was carrying around a load of bricks on my stomach from the incisions lol buts it gets better I'm telling you 1 week you will feel more like yourself!!!
  24. I think you should just say that is so great I am so happy for you!
