  1. It feel good to hear someone relate thanks for sharing!
  2. that is so exciting! congrats!
  3. wow I never really imagined I would get so many responses! Let me comment on a few things......first is, I am never tired I am awake all day and do not take naps. I sleep 8 hours each night and am ready to go the next day, I don't wake up with a headache or anything. second, I did explain to my pulmonologist that I hated things on my face and would not wear this. I did tell him that I'd wear it the three weeks before surgery however, that was the only way I was going to get the surgery. oh yea and the other thing is....he said I don't have the apnea while I sleep on my side with is 95% of the time. Sometimes I fall onto my back for a few minutes and that is when it happens. Then I'm back on my side and its all good again. Thanks for your comments I appreciate them all and none of them have upset me so please feel free to continue your thoughts if youd like!
  4. Hi There! Hopefully this will make you feel better! I have a BMI of 40 and at the time of my insurance approval I had no comorbitities. My paperwork was submitted to Aetna by my doctors office....there was a couple of things extra they wanted to know and so they sent a letter to my doctor requesting it and my doctors office sent it. Then I got a letter in the mail stating they approved me as of 3/9. They were really easy for me and I have the lowest BMI that qualifies for the lap band! I think you'll be okay!
  5. So I wanted to get some people's opinions on my situation..here it is.... They say I have sleep apnea lol I refuse to believe it. It's very minor is is caused by my weight. I have just recently developed it and even the pulmonologist said loose the weight and it will go away. So I absolutely hate things on my face and WILL NOT use the cpap machine no matter what anyone says I will not use it. Plus I am just embarassed and will not let ANYONE see me with that horrid thing on. I got it through UPS the other day and it's still in its box, I have already addressed it to go back to where it came from. I intend to ship it back on the day of my surgery. The only reason I got it in the first place is because my doctor requires you to use it for 3 weeks prior to surgery. I intend to keep it a seret that I am not using it. So I guess my questions is.....did anyone else not use their machine prior to surgery or have a similar situation? I'd like comments to on what you think! Thanks!
  6. I am from New England too! You know even though I have not had my surgery yet, this sounds normal....I am the one ALWAys hot! When no one else is..........your bosy is just probably get use to its new self I would think Stay warm!
  7. Oh well that makes me feel more hopeful! Thank you for telling me that! They are meeting today to see if they can fore-cast a date for me, I'm calling tomorrow if I don't hear by then!
  8. My insurance has actually already approved me. The doctor requires weight loss because it will shrink your liver which will make the surgery easier. I'm praying they set a date for me. In the past I have always been on a plan when dieting (weighwatchers, jenny craig) and have always lost weight, however it didn't stay off, off the diet, weight comes back. But now that I am just trying to change my lifestyle the weight doesn't want to budge and I am discouraged!
  9. I've seen my dietician 4 times since Dec and still have not lost anything. She said Thursday (tomorrow) she will meet with the surgeon to see if he will fore-cast a date for me, she said he may want to see me again to see if there is enough room in my stomach ect.....I'm really nervous... I was just wondering if there was anyone else who was required to loose weight, didn't and still had the surgery? Thanks!
  10. In all honesty, if you decided to do it I would suggest not telling people. The only people who know for me is, my husband and mother and father (because I live with them). I've heard stories of all the non-supportive people who try to talk people out of it. I would keep it to yourself until you've had it done at the very least. And I agree with the other comment you must do it for you and no one else.
  11. Met with the dietition again today and she said she will meet with my Surgeon this Thursday to try and forecast a date for me! Yay!
  12. I am not required to be on a liquid diet, but I am required to loose 10lbs prior to surgery and I am having a hard time. I would like to go on a liquid diet on my own and was hoping you could tell me what yours consisted of so that I can do the same thing, since I didn't get one from my own doctor. I would appreciate it greatly! Thanks everyone!
  13. one day I got a letter in the mail saying my doc's office submitted my request and before I new it the next week I had a letter of approval...I didn't even have to call it was that fast!
  14. 1. My brother in law (who was probably six at the time, I was 20) told me that I was an eating machine. He didn't mean it to be such a mean thing but I balled my eyes out. 2. I was walking down the side walk, on the edge kind of like a balance beam and these teens were walking down at the same time and one of them mumbled "move over fatty". I know they think I didn't hear them but I did and I've been upset about that ever since.
  15. I was told that I was going to have to stop taking it prior to surgery. I cannot remember the exact amount of days before but you should give your doctor a ring and ask the question!
  16. I went to for my 4th visit with my Nutritionist. I have been seeing her since December and I have not lost any weight since. I don't know what it was about today, but today I became frustrated. I feel better, my stamina has improved and I see no difference on the scale. I'm all ready to go, my insurance has approved me I have done EVERYTHING needed to be done prior to surgery, but the weight is just not coming off. I'm honestly not sure what I am trying to say in this blog, I have no specific intention for it. I guess I just wanted to share my frustration with everyone to let you know that if you are frustrated as well, you are not alone!

  19. Hey There! I have a POS plan I think its POSII I should find out in a couple weeks what my date is! I'll let you know!
  20. How did you do it? I am having my surgery soon. I have 100lbs to loose and I want to work hard enough to loose it within a year. I wanted to get advice from people who have actually done that. What should I do, what did you do? Any and all tips/info would be so appreciated!!!! Thanks in advance!
  21. hey Yaz! Wow we live super close! I am in Tyngsboro MA! I actually work for Keller Williams Realty off exit 8 in Nashua! I'm glad you are feeling better and I hope that everything works out the way you want it too!
  22. omg haha I have decided that you are my new friend! I have Aetna as well I was apprived for Surgery as of 3/9 I don't know my surgery date yet! This is my first surgery as well! Throw any questions you have my way!
  23. Hey Everyone! I had heard Aetna was one of the more difficult insurance companies to get to approve this surgery so I was really nervous! I didn't even know that my doctor had already requested coverage for the surgery and I all of the sudden got a letter as of 3/9 that I was approved! I am so thrilled. Just so you know...I know there is a lot of talk about what Aetna requires 3 or 6 months supervised diet/exercise......I did 3 months and was approved. I am pretty sure that as long as the hospital/clinic you are getting it done at has a specific program they make you follow before the surgery, then Aeta will approve without having to do 6 months. Just thought I would share!
  24. I was wrong everyone! My husband just changed our Aetna plan and now they cover 100% so they do cover it all! Oh and as of 3/9 I was told by Aetna that my surgery is approved by them! I am so thrilled! Per their website aetna considers the following comorbidities Coronary heart disease; or Type 2 diabetes mellitus; or Clinically significant obstructive sleep apnea (i.e., patient meets the criteria for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea set forth in Aetna CPB 004 - Obstructive Sleep Apnea); or Medically refractory hypertension (blood pressure greater than 140 mmHg systolic and/or 90 mmHg diastolic despite optimal medical management);
  25. Hi There! Besides the part about being a mother, I do not have kids, it sounds like we have and are living the same life lol. I'd love to walk you through everything if you need any help. We are the same age too and I love meeting people my own age. You should take a look at my profile...I have kept a pretty detailed timeline of my journey from the day I went to my seminar. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! Welcome!
