Blood pressure 5 days out
Thank you for reporting back. I felt it had something to do with surgery meds, since everything was o.k. before the surgery.

Blood pressure 5 days out
Hi Teach! Nice to meet you. Have you asked your doctor what is going on? Of course I found my bp high on Friday evening after the Dr. was closed and was just wondering. I'm taking just my meds as usual..cutting the BP med in half but not taking all the vitamins that I was taking. I'm too afraid of them getting stuck. Good luck to you and will watching for your posts.

Blood pressure 5 days out
The pain is from moving. When I sit still I don't have pain but am tired. It feels like the port is pulling and keeping the area painful. No, red streaks, no blood or pus. I'll try that postion to sleep. Thanks so much!

Blood pressure 5 days out
I just feel TIRED! I still have problems sleeping because of the port site pulling. The pain is in the port site anytime I try to pull myself up or bend over, etc. Walking is fine. I'm having a hard time sitting at the desk/computer. That's why I'm on a laptop in my big comfy chair. I called the Dr. yesterday with some questions and it was ..yes it will still be painful, yes the port site hurts the most, yes there is still swelling in the digestive track and will cause air bubbles/shoulder pain. I guess I'm 5 days out and just impatient. I never have been good at taking time to heal. I just want to be well tomorrow. Instant gratification!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Hey! Glad to hear your doing well! I'm usually pretty tough but I think not getting the pain under control let it take over. I wasn't told until we were going to drive the 2hours back that I could take two of the pain pills at a time. I think I was taking the lowest dose:eek: Do you go to the support groups on the last Tuesday of the month? I'm thinking about driving the two hours; at least this first time. I haven't met in person any bandster yet. At least not that Dr. Carter did surgery on. I'm looking forward to meeting some others that had the same surgeon. He and his staff have very very kind and understanding.

Blood pressure 5 days out
Thanks Wasa, but I'm taking the full amount just halving it since it's a big pill. I haven't taken anything for pain in a couple of days...I think I'm over doing a little and just *toughing it through the pain*. I know that pain makes the BP high but I will watch it. Thanks for the support.

Blood pressure 5 days out
I had my banding April 9th. Still in pain but not anything compared to day 1,2,3. Each day it's easier and I'm getting stronger except for today. I've tried to do more today but feel awful..sorta tearful and just tired. I haven't been sleeping much. Now folks I'm here to tell you that I don't get tearful:think but VERY SELDOM. I'm sorta dizzy and thought since I haven't been eating maybe my BP was low because of laying around and not as much sodium in my diet. I was unhappy to take my blood pressure:cry and it was 168/89. I've been cutting my pill in half since the pharmacist said it would be fine. My BP usually runs 140/78 with meds. Anyone have this happen after surgery? I haven't changed any meds except cutting the Verapamil in half.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
I had my surgery on April 9th. I was self pay so stayed the first night in the hotel the surgery center provided. The pain was much more than I had anticipated. My doctor doesn't want his patients drugged to the point of not walking and sipping. It was ROUGH!! I'm 4 days post surgery and feeling much better. I still have pain at the port site and pulling of that area. I'm trying to learn my lap band body..which is very weird. I think I swallow air and it doesn't go down..painful but it teaches you quickly what NOT to do. I'm trying hard to drink as much fluid as I need..but I wasn't good at that before. I will start full liquids tomorrow and don't really know the scope of what that means yet. My advice to those that are coming. Make sure you have someone to help you for at least 3 days. Be kind to yourself this time in your life and take two weeks off if at all possible!! I was going to take off only one week but decided for the first time in my life I was going to take care of myself. My husband has been an angel about helping me, even though he wasn't onboard with the idea of lap band at first. I'm now starting MY NEW BEGINNING!!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Lap band and volume eaters.
I'm wondering what the rate of lose is for volume eaters. I'm hoping that lap band really helps the volume eater...which I am one. I like sweets at times but my main problem is too much food. In other words is the lap band better for one type of over eaters than the other?

People with slipped band
Thanks to all for answering my questions.

People with slipped band
I'm already worry about that and haven't been banded yet. Maybe I'm worrying that I've not made the right choice if the band will eventally slip or the pouch will stretch and I will once again be fat or fatter somewhere down the road. My question is this: Was your band sewn in? If it was how did the slippage happen? Thank you for taking the time to answer a worry wart's questions.

How is weight loss for people over 50?
I'll be banded this Monday April 9th. My Doctor's sheet on what to do and not do is...soak in a tub only take showers. Well.......I don't have a shower. AND how hard is it to get up out of a tub after surgery? When I took a bath this morning..I tried to determine what muscles I was using. Yep mostly stomach muscles. Hopefully some of you can tell me what you did. I'm a 54 year old soon to be bandster!:clap2:

TerriDoodle...I enjoy all of your posts don't stop posting. You are about week ahead of me in banding. The Sugar Free syrups can be found at Wal-mart. I get the SF vanilla and SF caramel they have others and it just depends if your Wal-mart is in a big city or not.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
WOW..this thread goes fast!! That's great.:clap2: To all that are now home recouping and those that are being banded my prayers for you. I saw the surgeon yesterday. Dr. Richard Carter in Arlington, Texas. He and his whole staff were very friendly, professional and caring. I got all the information for my Monday April 9th banding. Once I left his office I almost just passed out from fear!! The *WHAT AM I DOING!!!* thing. All day long I had the jitters and now after a nights sleep I'm still scared but still on my journey to be banded. I guess it was just information overload and what will be my life without food for the rest of my life. My surgery will be done as an out patient. After I wake and they do a barium swallow I will go to a hotel a block away and spend the first night. I don't see the Doctor in the morning if I'm doing fine..we just go home. My husband is so loving and supportive. (he didn't want me to have this at first but now is onboard with **whatever I think I do to do**):kiss2: I've bought everything on the list that I think I might need, keeping it in the truck of my car (two hour drive for surgery). I've had two C-Sections and a gallbladder surgery in the past so I'm hoping this is a piece of cake compared to them. My Doctor sells a protein power called Amaze RX. They had some to taste at the clinic and the Vanilla and Strawberry taste much better than the SlimFast, etc. It comes in a hugh containter and contains 17grams for two scoops of protein, 2grams of sugar. He requires one of these every morning (or something equal to the protein) forever. Only breakfast though since he wants his patients to eat REAL protein 2 weeks out. Good LUCK to All!

Information overload--Just Wonkers!
I saw the surgeon for the first time today; Dr. Richard Carter in Arlington, Texas. His office staff were very nice and friendly. Dr. Carter made me feel very comfortable..he took time to answer every question and then waited to see if I could think of anything else. I feel he will be a very competent surgeon. (April 9th-Monday) I was so excited to finally get to meet him and ask my questions that the scared part went away for a while. UNTIL...I left the office! I thought I was going to just have the jitters! I thought WHAT in the HECK am I doing? I wanted to just run a way. I can't explain all the emotions that just bubbled up and overwhelmed me for a while. I've thought about it all day and go between don't do it and yes I HAVE to do it. I feel like I'm just NUTS right now.:omg: There's a million things to remember and when I look at the rest of my life I panic. you can't eat this, you can't sip that. But I NEED to be healthier and I WANT to be healtier. Is this normal or am I just wonkers? :) I'm Soooo afraid of failing. Doing all this and NOT losing weight or only a little weight...ohh my I couldn't take that.:help:

Positive..what can you do now?
You're in inspiration to all of us!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

What is a good reply?
I'm having my surgery on Monday..April 9th. I've already had friends and family say to me..*oh no, now we can't go out and eat or we can't have BBQ's anymore, etc. Even my husband (which is muscle and no fat) is moaning about the fact that our social life (our social life consists of eating out with friends and having family over for big meals..southern style) will NOT be the same. What is a good reply? Since I'm not banded yet..I have no idea. IDEAS?:help:

Positive..what can you do now?
I have a long list of things I WANT to do when I loose weight. Things I've done when I was thinner or younger..which is about the same time. Since I've been over weight since I was 9. I want to go swimming and not have to hide under a T-shirt. Ride in amusement rides with my grandsons. Walk for long distances without getting out of breath or my knees hurting. I have many more to list but I'll let you all take it from here. What have you accomplished or want to accomplish?:clap2:

Searched but can't find
I'm trying to figure out where do I find and how do I add a weight ticker? I've searched the forum with an overwhelming number of posts but no *how to*
