  1. Thanks to all that have answered and especially Kat. I need step by step instructions.*G* I've never had it explained to me. My doctor is always in a hurry and just tells me to take tiny bites! Well crap I know that but why??? I've never heard of the first bite syndrome...it makes sense because that's exactly what happens. Thanks again...I will start working on that my next meal.
  2. I'm having a really hard time losing now. I haven't lost any weight since Nov. 07. Two lbs up Two lbs down. I haven't GAINED any weight but haven't lost anything either. My clothes fit the same but my body is *shifting?* maybe firming up some. All I know is...I HATE this:mad::smile:. I'm pretty tight, sometimes I can eat a fair amount and others it comes back. I know I'm not drinking all the protein drinks like I use to because frankly...I almost barffff from the smell. Most meats get stuck but cream soup, potatoes and all the higher fat things slide down really easy. I still don't eat the volumn but the choices aren't meat, veggies since that gets stuck unless I drink something hot....and then it still gets stuck. My doctor said to stop eating at the first sign that I'm full. Sometimes that would be one bite before I can't eat anymore. I thought I might be too tight but went back and he did a fluro and said no I have plenty of room. Sooooo.......... I need some help from you all that have conquered this thing.
  3. Just peeked in to see what you all were doing. What in the heck is a body bugg? Rather pissed at myself..I've only lost 2 lbs since November. Loose one gain one..the good thing is that I would have gained 7lbs during the holidays. I think I'm eating crap...one tiny bite at a time. I am moving more, walk instead of ride, park further out, etc. But am really pissed at myself for not loosing like I did in the past. O.K. that's my confession.
  4. Hey All, I've been busy and happy these months. I think about all of you and today I decided to jump back in to see the shrinking violets!! You all have been doing WONDERFUL:clap2::clap2::clap2: I haven't lost much like before..but now I stay the same instead of gain at CHRISTMAS no less!! My band is wonderful! I'm on the protein, veggies and good carbs instead of biting all those bits of fattening foods. I really want to be close to 100 lbs lost by April 9th, 2008 my one year anniversary. O.K. back to work. Good luck in the new year!!
  5. I'm having port pain..like muscle pain..when I bend over or lift. I can't think of anything I've done to strain it. When I first noticed it was after eating quite a bit. I was really hungry (I saw my lap band doctor yesterday..didn't get a fill..everything was fine but I didn't eat more than a cup a soup all day) when I ate dinner. I ate a steak salad..almost all of it. That's when my port area started hurting. Now today it's worse when I laugh, lift or bend. This is weird..anyone ever have something like this and what did you do to make it quit hurting?
  6. I finally got back on to say HI and try to catch up. My computer has been in the shop and when I used my lap top..I couldn't access this site...WHAT the FUNT? Anyway, You all look beautiful. I'm happier than I can remember, still having to get my head around eating in some situations though. My mini problems still are eating too fast, talking when I eat and letting stress during eating make me eat too much. Since my last fill in Sept. I can't eat much and usually PB at least 4 times a week...which is a LOT compared to NONE before. Sometimes I PB every meal for a day then have a good day and can eat without problems. Do any of you have the same problem? Anyway Hi to All!!!!:clap2::clap2:
  7. :clap2:Hello All, I just got back from a Girl Friends Trip!! Soooo much fun. We went driving in Conneticut, stayed in beautiful Inns and just relaxed and enjoyed NOT taking care of anyone, not working!! I don't have time to read all of the posts I missed but I did catch a few...so hugs and prayers to those that want them. Ohh and I lost 4 lbs on vacation and didn't suffer at ALL... I LOVE MY BAND:whoo::whoo:
  8. I usually have a fill around 2pm..Dr. says have a Protein shake after fills and nothing else other than soup, until the next morning. Also..he says the REASON for PB'ing is eating too fast and taking too big of bites. His rule is no bite bigger than a nickle..now let me tell you this..when I started slowing down and taking the small bites; I haven't had a problem. I thought I was too tight from my last fill and after a fluro, he told me the (pointing up) above information. I haven't had a problem since..Try it.
  9. My first 20 something years of work..I was the Head Tech for Lab & X-Ray in a hospital then moved over to the Doctor's Clinic for another 8 years. Now I buy and sell real estate, and have some rental properties... (HouseHuntress)....Plus serve on some boards in my local small town in Texas.
  10. Found it! This is the latest TABLET prep for a colonoscopy. Lots of tablets to take, I think that's why one Dr. said it will take 3 days of prep for lap band patients. It NEEDS to be done though. Anyone after 50...Take care of yourself!!!
  11. I was told that since I have the band..I have to have a prep for 3 days because we can't drink as much and will get dehydrated. I haven't asked my band doctor about it since he's 2 1/2 hours away from me and I couldn't *drive home* after. So...anyone have the colonoscopy AFTER being banded?
  12. Colonoscopy..YUK..after 50 test.:rose: Any of you had this thing and have any words of wisdom..before or after? Thanks...I want to put it off but.......I know it needs to be done. Yuk, Yuk, Yuk!!!!!
  13. Think I need a new picture. Anyone know if you can put your before AND after together in this space? Any Techies out there?
  14. Hope that wasn't too loud for the Violets that were still sleeping. ...I'm finding out what toooooo tight might be. For the first time in 5 months, I can't eat much of anything. Even my protein shake with a banana in it..takes only two drinks before I feel that bubble feeling of being too full. I've PB'd almost every meal and in between. I'm just HUNGRY since I can't eat much and I keep trying and PB'ING. I know that's the worst thing to do since it irritates the esophagus. I'm going to try this for a few more days and if it doesn't loosen up a little I'm going back to be deflated a bit. Anyone have the problem and it loosen? Good news is that I lost 9lbs last month without the tooo tight fill. I'm working the band baby!!! Great Success to All the Violets!
  15. Everyone is doing soooo well. Congrats. Terri...what wonderful talent. I've seen necklaces in the fancy stores that don't look that good. Katy...as far as the dreams go and not sleeping, sometimes it's a med or over the counter med. Might want to see if anything you've started conincides with the non-sleeping. Kity...ohh my GOSH, I would LOVE a closet like that! The all the rest...great success today. I've got to scoot to work.
  16. Looking at your food yesterday the one thing that sticks out is hardly ANY real protein. My body will CRAVE carbs if I eat CARBS even if it's only a little. Trade calorie carbs for protein carbs for a week and see the difference. Number one you won't be as hungry, Number two the protein burns slower plus the side benefit is the water weight that is shed by NOT taking in so many carbs. I exercise on the health rider every other days and am pretty active but I think it's the low carbs that I eat. I don't count and I DO eat carbs but not much. I really, really try to eat protein first, veggies second and then a few carbs. I don't get in enough water but I'm working on it.
  17. :clap2:Yeah!! the fill is doing it's job and I'm doing MINE. Bandster rules!! Only one more pound to 50LBS LOST!!!:whoo::whoo:
  18. What a hottie!!! I just saw your updated pic. Awesome girl!!
  19. Has anyone had a procedure done called Titan? It's a laser that heats the 2nd layer of skin enough for it to produce collagen, making the first layer (the saggy layer) tighten and smooth against the 2nd layer? I thought I might try this if anyone can truly tell me it helps. I'm going to have a lot of sagging under my chin and of course if it can help some of the wrinkles I'm all for it. The cost is about $250.00 a time or a complete session is around $1,500.00 or less depending on how much sagging you have. It will continue to tighten for 6 months after the procedure. Here's a link Varicose and Spider Vein Treatment
  20. You look wonderful...aren't you proud of what you've accomplished? I love reading posts like yours. You're an inspiration. Thanks!
  21. I was so mad at MYSELF because I wasted a whole month of not loosing...not a pound! But I have lost inches, so I will take that. My Dr. ..Dr. Richard Carter in Arlington just smiled and said that he thought it best sometimes to let *me/patient* figure it out for themselves. A hard lesson but I won't second guess him again. I'm still very hungry and can eat a lot more and then it just *pinged* into my brain that someone said it takes a day or two for the fill to kick in? Anyone have that? Anyway..I'm ready to go again on the loosing side. The Dr. said this one might be my sweet spot or the next..he didn't think it would take anymore. I got 1/2 cc this time making 2.5 cc in a 4 cc band. Thanks for the support.
  22. Finally my appointment for my fill that I Opted NOT to get last month. Big mistake. I haven't lost any weight in a month..hungry all the time and I ate pizza. That is a truly red light food for me. I haven't had a bite since banding in april 07. Ate like a piglet..I use to eat like a pig. Now only a piglet..but still a piglet over this pizza. Pizza is banned from my house and I'm driving the two hours to my doctor for a fill. Hope he doesn't grip at me. I hate that. I'll be on the loosing side again in no time. Thanks for listening to my ramblings. Great Success!
  23. Hello to All you wonderful loosing Violets!! My schedule has been over the top lately. I try to catch up on the reading when I can. Kudo's to all of you. :whoo:You're all winners! My hindsight is this. Last month I was having problems with *sticking*. For those that haven't experienced it..well it HURTS and then makes your esophagus swollen and more likely to get stuck again. My Doctor wanted to give me another fill and said I had plenty of room and I wasn't too full (he always does a fluro..one of the reasons I picked him). I told him NO...I wanted to wait another month...I couldn't get much down because of the sticking. He said to slow down I was eating too fast and taking too big of bites. He was totally CORRECT. Sad part of the story..I feel better since I've done what he said but haven't lost a pound this whole month. I eat more, I'm hungerier and don't feel full. Next Tuesday is weigh day:angry, I don't like to loose my momentum. Sooo, long story short..don't do what I did. I've missed a whole month of opportunity to loose.
  24. Feeling stronger everyday. Looking forward to each day. I accused my husband of pushing back my driver seat in the car. I'm shrinking so much there's SOOOO much space between me and the steering wheel now! Love to wear necklaces that fit. Finding *new* clothes in my closet that I was going to give to good will. Same thing about jewerly. I can wear normal size bracelets, and necklaces I love dropping clothes into my *fat pile* for charity. Knowing I'm not *SAVING THEM* for when I gain weight again. Knowing that this is IT. Never thinking of food all the time like I use to. Easy to push my grandson in the stroller all over the zoo and not die (live in HOT Texas) I even caught myself running a couple of yards as I pushed!!! I was shocked..what happened? Was that really me that just broke into a run? People giving me compliments and I thank them for it instead of making some crack about myself. I've got so many more but the best is knowing all of this is worth it, the pain and the money. I have my life and many years of fun because of the band. Hugs to all!
  25. Laura you are soooo beautiful, Hubby is Handsome! CONGRATS!
