  1. Congrats to you, but I do think that that many do this becuase they want to prevent themselves from getting so unhealthy that they end up where you are. I do not think that one should have to wait until they have one foot in the grave to make this decision. It's all about wanting to live healthier at any stage. Glad to have you as an example of someone that has been sucessful.
  2. I was worried my baby was not getting enough nutrition, but my dr. said not to worry the baby will get all it needs even if it pulls from my fat stores....he thinks this is what was happening b/c I was feeling so drained and had no energy. He said I was the one not getting enough nutrition. So he took out 2 cc (already took out 1.6 2 months before) and immediatley my energy level was back up and I feel like I can eat heathier b/c I am not supplementing with unhealthy things like milkshakes. Talk to you llapband doc....that relly helped me.
  3. Thank you for sharing.....this is something I have wondered about. I was so curious what would happen if the band slipped during pregnan! I hope you, your wife, and the baby are all doing well. Good lukc to your family!
  4. I feel exactly the same, I am 8 weeks, gained 4 pounds so far and freaked out! I am so sick of everyone saying it is normal to gain weight, its baby weight, and everything will be fine....ugh....no one around me knows what it feels like to struggle your entire life, make the decision and go through all that we go through during and after surgey and the fears of gaining it all again and going thru this crazy fight to get it off again!!! I have been so very down, my OB is giving me a list of docs to talk to during this time b/c I am getting so dipressed. I am sorry you band had to be let out completely. They only took 1.6 cc out of mine and I can eat alot more but still too tight to hopefully gain....my band doc is keeping a close eye on me and willing to fill and unfill as much as possible to make sure I ONLY gain baby weight and no fat....talk to your band doc, maybe soon you can try refilling a little at a time. Hang in there, your not alone.....
  5. I am 8.5 in my 14 cc band and I am a week from my anniversary. My husband feels I am too tight and I feel like I could go .1 or .2 more.
  6. I am so excited to see this forum here....I love Dr. Pinnar's Office, Paul and Sue are the best!
  7. I have used Stevia for years, you can buy it at the health food store or at Whole Foods, way cheaper than the Truvia brand. Just look for Stevia.....It's much healther, all natural no chemicals.
  8. Wow, does not sound safe...you could nick your line and get a leak....plus just not safe!
  9. i feel like that when I do not chew enough or eat too fast. Also don't drink when you eat.....
  10. Glad you are back, nice to see a fellow Army wife. I am so sorry yur DH is being deployed again. I know how tough it is, My DH has been home for a year now from his last deployment and hopefully it will be awhile again since we are now at a non-deployable unit. Good luck to you!!! Ang
  11. I did not have mine in Mexico, and mine was approved by insurance, but I am a military wife and move often......this situation is the case no matter if you had it in Mexico or not, I had a heck of a time finding a doc that would take me in Virginia after having surgery in Colorado. Also, I had to pay higher fees too! Doctors do not like to work with other doctors work in any case, not just Lap-band. I agree with the others, do research BEFORE you have surgery!!
  12. Iam so proud of you all.....I am such a slow loser and depressed...I have only lost 26 pounds since June 12th...
  13. Congrats, I am so jealous, I am a June bandster and have only lost 26 pounds.....I am getting discouraged, so this was nice to read!!! Thanks for sharing
  14. OMG! I just had the best protien powder ever!!! It is PhytoSoy, Vanilla Cake Mix Flavor, SO yummy!!! This is like dessert. You have to try this!!! 120 Cal, 6.5g Sugar and 20gProtien... I used to drink EAS Myoplex Lite until they changed it and now it smells like fish! YUCK

  16. I try to avoid fast food, but sometimes it is all you can find to eat when in a hurry. So I try to be careful when eating there. Like I love McDonald's fruit and yogurt parfait, grilled chicken without bread, baked potato from Wendys or chili, Inside of Taco Bells Chicken Fresco tacos, refried beans when on mushies from Taco Bell. Coleslaw from Chickfila, you can always find somehting that will work and not be bad for you, just choose wisley. Occasionally I will have a burger and eat just the meat with mustard and veggies.
  17. My old Doc said no way, but my new doc, who I just LOVE says its fine, just not right after surgery and it must be diet. He sai I just need to drink it slowly.
  18. I pay $125 for a non-fluro fill and $175 for a fluro fill. Only $50 more. Hope that helps. Oh I did have another doc quote me over $500. Sometimes it depends on the hospital where they do the fluro versus just the docs fee.
  19. yogurt helpped me alot at that point. It will get easier!! The first 7 days are the worst! Hang in there!:huh2:
  20. Hi Ladies, Army Wife here...we were once Coast Guard and now Army.... Coast Guard Duty Stations: 94-95 Galveston, TX 95-96 Charleston, SC 96-99 Sitka, Alaska ARMY Duty Stations: 2004-2006- Ft. Rucker, Alabama 2006-2008- Ft. Carson, Colorado 2008-Present- Ft. Belvoir, Virginia (just south of DC) To ARMYWIFE4LIFE: My good friend is at Ft. Lewis and we used to visit the area alot when we were in Alaska, it would be one of my first choices for a duty station, awesome!!! Love it there..... Also, I am SO gealous of you Germany ladies....I hope we will make it there one day!
  21. I was filled today too!! I am at 7.4 in a 14cc band...on liquids for 2 days and I always get a headache...I hate it! But my band is finally feeling tighter!! I am happy about that!
  22. Maybe we should start a Fibro thread or keep using this one, to stay in touch and see each others progress with Fibro and how the lapband effects each of us. I am curious how each one will be effected differently. What do you guys think? May be a good resource for when we are having bad days too.....
  23. I have fibro and am 5 months post op. The thing I hate the most is that I would like to start exercising to help my weight loss but I just can't the fibro is so bad I am in pain all the time, especially if I walk to much or do too much. But that is not a lap band problem, my doc thinks the lap band can "cure" fibro, but I know skinny people with fibro too so I dont know, but maybe it makes the pain less by getting the heavy weight off. Good luck!
  24. I did not have a pain pump, I was in alot of pain, but I think that might have made it much more complicated and worse. Just a tip, make sure you get your scheduled fills after to get best results! Good Luck! I took a nasal spray pain medicine which was great and worked well.
  25. I am 5'8 and have a 14cc
