  1. I brought it up at my surgery consult, my surgeon sort of dismissed it as, let's get through this first... I am really concerned with the sagging skin issue, he didn't seem to view it as a big deal.

I love the Wii Fit - I don't use it as much as I should because I have to set it up in my livingroom. The hula hoop is the best, and I kick my daughters' butts at it, lol. The kids love it, too - dh doesn't pay much attention but he weighs 180 so he can stay off my Wii Fit anyway! :-) It definitely gives you a hard time if you gain or don't use it for a while (snide comments and such), but I think that's a plus - I would rather deal with a machine giving me grief than a real person, lol.
  3. I had the sleep study - it came back as mild sleep apnea, so I didn't need the CPAP or anything like that. All they told me is that they feel the surgery will cure the mild apnea. From what I have heard if you do need the CPAP you do have to take it with you to the hospital and it's important for them to know and monitor your breathing.
  4. Wow! Thanks for all the replies! It's amazing how different everyone's experience is. I think I'll ask him to let me stay over if possible, just to have a night without kids screaming and chasing each other around the house, lol. Did any of you have problems going up and down the stairs at all???
  5. This is the part I'm afraid of, being sent home and having an issue in the middle of the night, I would rather stay (not to mention you can't rest in my house, lol - my kids will leave me alone, but they won't leave each other alone!).
  6. I'm getting closer to surgey (March/April) and I'm wondering more about the actual procedure itself. How many of you had to spend the night? How long were you sore? Was driving a problem at all? Were there any restrictions aside from diet??? Thank you!!!
  7. I know just what you mean - I have a 13, 11 and 9 yr old. I'm going with Dr. Averbach at St. Agnes, I've been to several info sessions and talked with lots of people, the docs at St. Agnes appeal to me the most. Btw, I'm just up the road from you in Belcamp so if you do end up at St. Agnes and want to carpool to support meetings let me know! I'm getting ready to start my 5th month (supervised diet) so hoping to get banded in March/April.
  8. Hi Beautylocs, Just remember that most of us here either do or have felt the same way you do, you are sooooo not alone. I've just decided if the lapband doesn't work I'm going to start sitting on skinny chicks until I feel like the world is a better place!:tongue2: Feel free to talk to me anytime!
  9. Sounds good, I'm in my second month - my third visit is December 4th. I guess I'm old, lol, I'm 33, I have three kids and I work from home. AND I spend way too much time on my butt!

I had my consult with Dr. Averbach and he was great! I was a little surprised because a lot of people said he's all business and not much personality and I really thought he was very personable and funny. I still have four months of supervised diet to go (well 3 1/2), I'm just trying to stick with everything and convince myself that the time is a good thing so that I'm not pushing myself to get everything done. My insurance company (One Net, PPO) requires a lot of tests, everything from a stress test to a drug test, lol. I was supposed to go to the nutritionalist (sp?) but had to reschedule due to my son being in the hospital with MRSA, that was fun... but he's all better now thank goodness. So just working towards my goal! I'm so over this "fat-girl" life!

  12. I have to say that I've had a hard week, my son was hospitalized, my daughter is sick, and I feel like crud, lol BUT I still went to vote! And yes, I voted for Obama. The most important thing is to get out and vote regardless of who you are voting for. I can put up with anyone's views as long as they are a part of the process, it's those that complain for four years and didn't even bother to go stand in line that I can't tolerate. So no matter what the out come, let's just hope for a better America in the near future!
  13. I know what you mean, I can't even take a shower without needing a break! I won't be able to submit until April... it sucks for sure!
  14. White tongue sounds like Thrush - I don't know if that's common after banding, (I haven't been banded yet) but I have had Thrush from antibiotics. I would say call your doctor and if you are allowed eat yogurt!
  15. I haven't had my band yet but I've had several tummy surgeries and always had the gas and pain (especially under my shoulder blades where the gas settled). The walking definitely helps along with sleep propped UP! They always told me laying flat was what let the gas get trapped, so if you can prop yourself up on some pillows at night. Hope you feel better soon!
  16. When I'm not scared to death I am! lol
  17. Just remember it when I'm 40 hrs away and am in the same boat! lol - I can't wait to hear how wonderful you do when you come out. :-)
  18. I haven't had my surgery yet but I think that is normal, I think if you weren't scared THAT would be odd! You are making a major commitment to yourself, the fact that you are scared just means you realize what an important step you are taking. Good luck and hang in there, you are doing what's right for you and your health!

I haven't had my band surgery yet but the day I came home from having my hysterectomy (3 days after surgery) I had gained 27 lbs! It was all fluid from the swelling but I nearly fell on the floor! I would take everyone's advice and stay away from the scale until your follow up - don't drive yourself crazy!
  20. Welcome! I'm about 5 1/2 months out too, hoping to be banded in April!
  21. You have to figure that we live in a society where at least twice a week they have a segment on the news showing fat people walking down the street, putting food in their mouths, etc. I always hold my breath and hope I don't see myself! I've never seen them do a story that way on ANY other group of people. It's the way it is, if you are fat you don't have the same rights as the rest of society, some how, at some point, we crossed the line and became "less than human" in the eyes of the majority. Does that need to change, yes, are most people willing to fight for the change, no. If that woman bothered you to the point that you are uncomfortable to work with her, than nail her ass to the wall. Only you can decide what's worth your time and effort.
  22. Thank you for the information! I had laser treatment for hair removal in the past and blistered quit badly, (it got better with each treatment but the hair grew back anyway... ) is that the same type of laser?
  23. That's so funny! Maybe since she gained weight she thinks it makes her a part of some fat chick sisterhood - if she says anything like that again I would just ask her if she wants me to find out if we can get a two for one deal!
