He doesn't need to know now. If things progress and get serious you can tell him then.
  2. Welcome! Best of luck with your upcoming surgery!!
  3. Eating well after weight loss surgery available from Amazon here
  4. PB stands for productive burp, which is basically a burp that brings food up with it. It is when you eat something without chewing it enough, or something your body can't handle, and it won't go down, so it comes back up.
  5. Bandster hell is the time immediately following surgery when you do not yet have a fill. The doctor won't give you a fill because your body needs time to heal from the surgery. Without a fill you will not feel and restriction so you will be hungry just like before the surgery. This is the hell people refer to because you've made the bold move of going ahead and having the surgery, but you are not seeing any of the results or feeling the benefits of it yet. Personally, I never had bandster hell, felt not hungry from the beginning. Best of luck with your surgery!
  6. You are having a hard time eating now due to swelling from your surgery. This gives you a sensation of feeling full. Don't worry about not eating enough now. This feeling will pass in a few days and you will be able to get back to your diet. Just try and make sure to drink enough to keep yourself hydrated.
  7. Did your doctor require a pre op diet? The point of the pre op diet is in order to shrink the liver and stomach and help avoid complications like this from happening.
  8. Try this forum dedicated to pregnancy and the lapband. If you look through the old posts there you should find the answers to most of your questions.
  9. Good for you! That's fantastic!!
  10. I don't believe that number is correct. Seems very high to me.
  11. I don't feel it passing through, but I sure feel it if something gets stuck! If you are feeling food as it passes through it may be a sign that you are not chewing your food well enough.
  12. It definitely can't hurt to do it. My doctor is very strict about it - if you you don't do the two week liquid diet, he won't do the surgery. The reason for the pre-op diet as mentioned above is in order to shrink your liver. The doctor needs to lift up your liver and go under it in order to place your band. If you have a big fatty liver (as many of us overweight people do) then he may not be able to perform the surgery properly.
  13. I may have a flipped port and need to have surgery to have it fixed. I was a self pay for my surgery and have no insurance. Can any of you give me an idea how much this procedure cost you? Also, is it performed under full or local anesthesia? Thank you
  14. Well, I went in for my first fill today. Doctor poked around a whole bunch of times and couldn't get in to my port. He says he thinks it may be flipped. I'm going back in a week and he is going to try to do it under x-ray so he can see better what he's doing. If that fails then I'm will have to have surgery for a port revision. This really sucks for two reasons. 1. My restriction is significantly reduced from what it was right after surgery and I was looking forward to my first fill. 2. I was a self pay - borrowed money for the surgery - and have no idea how the hell I'm going to pay for an additional surgery. Hoping and praying that the Doctor will be able to take care of it under x-ray next week. Thank y'all for hearing me out.
  15. Took me a couple of weeks till it really kicked in.
  16. Thanks everyone for your responses. I cooked myself a medium rare steak last night. I cut it up in to small pieces and chewed it well. It went down fine - no problems! I did feel full after just a few bites though
  17. Perfectly normal not to feel anything now. The time after surgery is for healing, not for losing weight. The weight should start to come off after your first fill, but it may take a few more till you hit your sweet spot.
  18. What on earth would you be feeling guilty about? You are doing an amazing thing and taking control of your life! You should be on top of the world!!
  19. So I was reading through the forums and I see different people react differently to steak. Some people get it down fine, while for others it's a big no no. I'm a month post op and so far I have been able to eat anything I tried so long as I chewed it well. I'm going to try a small piece of steak and see how it goes. My question for those of you who do eat steak. Does it make a difference how well you have your steak done? I usually eat my steaks rare or medium rare, but I'm wondering if a better cooked steak might go down easier. Please share your experiences. Thank you!
  20. Hi y'all, I am one month post op and going for my first fill next week. Till now I have been able to eat anything as long as I chew it well. I have not thrown up or PB'd once yet. My question is will that change after my first fill? I know I won't be able to eat the sane quantities that I an eating now, but will the foods I am able to eat change? Thanks,
  21. Metformin is also available in liquid form. Its called Riomet and made by a company called Ranbaxy. I would ask your doctor if you can take it instead of your pills.
  22. Every Surgeon has different requirements. Best to call your doctors office and check
  23. You can also start by introducing more physical activity into your life outside of your official exercise sessions. Examples: Take stairs instead of elevator. Park at the end of the parking lot and walk. Walk places instead of driving. Etc.
  24. If your only two weeks post op it could still be the effects of the anesthesia that are making you feel so thirsty. I know I felt that way for the first few weeks post op.
