  1. I'm actually suppose to start Monday, but my family is having this big labor day cookout sunday and there is going to be about 25 to 30 people here eating hamburgers and stuff. I am not about to be sipping on soup broth while everyone else is chowing down on hamburgers and hotdogs. I decided to start a day early (I doubt it will do anything to hurt me a day early) but I'm not going to be eating hamburgers or hotdogs. Im going to fix me some grilled chicken with lemon and pepper seasoning and puree it with some chicken broth. Not as good as having a hamburger but 1,000 times better than chicken noodle broth (lol). About the eggs, I am going to have me some in the morning and I was thinking about putting some lowfat cheese and some bacon it with it. Make it like an omlete. I can have pork and bacon comes from pork so I thought it would be a wonderful breakfast. Tomorrow can't come soon enough for me!!!
  2. OK so, I was cooking breakfast for the kids this morning. We have ballgames starting at 4 today so i wanted to make sure they had a good breakfast and will have a good lunch. I fixed sand dollar pancakes, toast, and eggs for them. Since I get to start my "mushies" tomorrow, I thought I'd check to see how much 1 to 1 1/2 ounces of eggs would be. Wow, it's alot of eggs. I was thinking it would be about 2 teaspoons full but its alot more than that. So, when I go to weigh the food, do I do it before or after I puree it? Wouldn't pureeing it make it to where you could get more than before you puree it?
  3. OK so come this sunday I will finally get to start my mushy foods. My family is having a cookout for Labor Day and my dad is grilling out hamburgers, hotdogs, ribs, and BBQed chicken. While all of these sound super good, I told him to just grill me a piece of chicken with some Lemon Pepper seasoning on it. I thought I'd puree it in some chicken broth, hopefully it will taste good. I'd really like to have some ribs, but chicken is so much my healthy for you. Any one have any other ideas for the chicken?
  4. Plums....YUMMY!!!!! My favorite fruit of all time. Have you trid peeling the skin off of it and eat it that way?
  5. Sugar free fudgesicles? I can't find any around where I live and trust me, i have been looking. I thought they would be good for my 2 week liquid diet.
  6. I had my band done on August 18th here it is the 28th and I am still on Clear Liquids, no yogurt, no pudding or anything like that. I guess every doctor is different. I get aggravated alot because I want something that isn't going to just slide down my throat, I'd like it to stay in the pouch for a while so i dont get that hungry feeling. I guess my doctor knows what he is doing though cause I have already lost 11 pounds and its only day 10:w00t:
  7. hopefully that made the clapping hands. Way to go Corey. You are doing WONDERFUL. I was just banded 8 days ago and have already lost 11 pounds. I don't really have any tips for you other than do what your surgeon says and walk as much as you can. Keep up the good work!!
  8. hope i didnt make u mad or anything, just would hate to see that happen to you or to anyone
  9. I wouldn't go as far as lying to them. If ur insurance found out that you had lied, you may end up having to repay them or worse yet, end up repaying them and beign sued having to pay court costs and whatever else. You know what I am saying? Your doctor will be able to tell you if you qualify with the insurance or not to pay
  10. OK what the heck is a DH? Damn husband? I know the H has to be husband but was is the D for?
  11. Hey Stephanie, if it makes u feel any better, I didn't have any co morbs either. Other than my weight and arthritis in my back, I am in perfect health.
  12. Just thought I'd give a word of advice to all of you banders that are still on your 2 week post-op diet. OK, so my adorable husband fixed his famous beef stew over the weekend. We kept out some of the broth from it and I have been eating (sipping) on it for the past couple days. About 45 minutes ago, my stomach started growling so bad I was about to go crazy. So, I get up and warm me up some of the broth from the stew. I thought it would be ok if I put some crackers in it to make it a little thicker so it would stay with me longer. WARNING: DON NOT DO THIS. MY STOMACH IS HURTING RIGHT NOW AND I KNOW IT HAS TO BE BECAUSE I WENT AGAINST WHAT I WAS TOLD AND PUT CRACKERS IN MY BROTH. It is so not worth the pain I am having right now. Just stick to the diet the Doctors actually know what they are talking about.
  13. OH BOY gilliebean, I had a sip of hot tea with apple cider in my mouth when I read your reply. when I read pee, I just about spit out my drink. Not sure why, but that was funny. Maybe just cause I am in a good mood. I weighed myself and saw it said ten pounds, I ran back into my room got my cell phone, weighed again and took a picture of it saying 254 and sent it to my husband. lol:w00t:
  14. as I am not the one who had Lap Band surgery, but my sister has. Hey Liz, First off I want to say you have to be a wonderful person in order to go onto a website looking for support for your sister. It's plain to see that you stand right beside her in her journey. Your sister can come here and ask any question she wants and there is even a chat room on this site she can chat on.
  15. UH HUH you guessed it, it's me ok. lol I have a question and then I have a comment about the question. So here goes. When you gals weigh yourselves do you do it with or without your clothes on? Did you know that if you weight with you clothes on (even night clothes) you can add atleast 2 pounds to what the scales tell you? That's right, you can. I just weighed myself a couple minutes ago both ways. First with a nightgown and night pants on, scales said 256, I took everything I had off and weighed again and it said 254. I like the naked answer much much better. So the question is, which is the proper way to weigh? Clothed or naked?
  16. I was banded on August 18. Tomorrow will make one week and I have lost a total of eight pounds since I had the surgery.
  17. I was just wondering, when I get to Phase 2, what all am I allowed to eat. I know it has to be pureed and I know you can have Chicken, Turkey, Ham, and pork for my meats, but what else can I have?
  18. The day of surgery I wore regular clothes. Jeans, T-shirt, socks, shoes. But for the ride home. I wore a pair of night pants that were really lose and a the biggest night shirt I could fine. Panties were out of the question, the seam was right where 2 of my incesions were and as for a bra, I have an incesion right between my breast but a little lower than the clevage area, so I didn't wear one home. Just wear something really loose fitting and comfy.
  19. Thanks for the reply. But, the pain is gone. I'm not sure what it was, but I am thinking it was gas pains.
  20. OK I am 1 day shy of being 1 week post-op. I having this horrible pain that starts from one side of my chest and goes to the other end of my chest. It kinda feels like it is a little under my ribs but im not totally sure. I do know that it is a little under my breast. For a few seconds its really bad and then it eases up a little then right back to hurting bad. Today is the first day this has happened. Can someone please advice me on what this is. Is it gas pains or what?
  21. First off, I hope everything is better or getting better for you, I didn't catch the date you posted this. OMG, I can't believe that your port is/was detached. That has to be horrible. And the fact that nobody ever even thought to Xray it to make sure nothing was going on with all the pain you were having, that makes it even worse.
  22. Haven't had my first fill yet. 2moro I will only be 1 week post-op. 6.5 and a record huh? Well congrads!! We all gotta set some kind of record dont we? How long post-op are you?
  23. To everyone who has responded to my post so fast with all the wonderful tips, I greatly thank you. It means so much that people I don't even personally know (heck I don't even know your real names lol) would take the time out to stop and help me with a problem I am having. I am going to take this one day at a time, and hey, I only have 9 more days until I can get to pureed foods. I'm sure that while everyone else is eating, I'll be fine with my chicken (or what ever I am having that night). I have an aunt that went through the same thing, I am going to call her and see if she and I can get together and her help me out while I am going through all of this, not just phase 1 but throughout the whole thing. She had the Bypass a few years ago, so she does know what I am going through. That idea come from my mom and from you restless monkey, thank you so much. I guess I am going to get a little bit more walking daily which is a good thing. Who knows I may be able to talk my husband into going to the store and getting me some dumb bells so I can start using them for my arms. And maybe get me some ankle weights for when I walk. I do feel alot better know that I am not the only one that has felt this way and I am not just some grumpy bitter person. This is normal. Like I said in my earlier post. I may not see it now, but, I know that when it all is said and done and I look at myself in a full length mirror and like what I see, I will know that it was all worth it. So, again, thanks to everyone for their responses.
  24. Thanks for the tips Restless Monkey, When it is dinner time I can go walk up and down the road maybe that will keep my mind off what they are doing. And yes, in a way, I am grieving for the old me, the one that could eat 2 burgers but I dont want that old person back. I have already lost 7 pounds and am only 4 days post op. My surgeron does offer psych consultation but the problem is, my surgeon is 2 hours aways and I can't really drive that far with the gas prices.
