extremely excited but also really nervous...
thanks everybody, your replies make me feel better =] the coughing part kinda scares me if i haven't already said that, on a scale of 1-10 how much does it hurt? i also am very worried about nausea, the last time i actually threw up (TMI i know) was march 08, i get sick to my stomach alot and i was sick to my stomach at the PT class yesturday and at my 5 hour course on tues, but i usually dont get that unless im nervous, but i should ask for one of those patches, so it lasts 3 days? i only get nervous before things happen and im fine after, still get one right?

how far apart should they be?
i'm not banded yet, will be on july 31st. but i just want to know now how far apart should the meals be? im still in high school (senior and nope i didnt fail) school starts in september, i dont have a lunch period this year because i wanted more credits, and im also going to this place called CV-Tec for cosmetology (it's the other half of the school day) i get up at 5am i start getting ready at 6 and it takes 30-35 mins to get ready, i usually have breakfast at 5:10am, i dont have a car yet but the school bus usually picks me up at between 6:45-7am school starts at 7:28am, i dont know my schedual for school yet, not til next month, we are alowed to eat lunch in the class rooms if you dont have a lunch or if you're attending cv-tec or if you are getting help with a teacher during your lunch period. anyways i'd be having lunch during 6th pd which is at 11:10am-11:56am and i usually get home at 2:30 but since im going to cv-tec i wont be getting home til 3:10, can you help me with a food schedual for my school days so ill have an idea? breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack. and i want to look for another job but i dont know how it'll fit in =/ if anything is confusing please let me know, thanks (:

extremely excited but also really nervous...
hey everyone, today was my post-op appointment. my surgery is july 31st (my surgeron [i spelled that wrong didnt i?] is Dr. Hill)and I'm really nervous as i am excited. I'm really ready but sometimes i feel like im not. The fill part makes me nervous too, they don't numb it but i guess if i can get piercings and tattoos than it shouldn't be bad. I feel like I'll mess up and wont lose weight or vomit and cause my band to slip. ahh, i bought my protein shake packets today, what day should i start that, the 21st or the 22nd? should ask eh? Had my PT class today and the nurse is my favourite nurse shes so funny and so nice, she makes me comfortable, and she also had WLS cant exactly remember what she had think it was bypass not sure, but shes awesome, we did an exam, there was no grade and we went over them in the class and well, everyone got them correct haha, she explained everything, and it helped alot. she gave us this breathing tube and we have to use it every hour after surgery to cough? she also gave us this antiseptic/antimicrobial skin cleanser for the night before and after surgery. i have a phone interview on monday at 10 and i dont know what theyre gonna talk about, eep. the main reason im nervous/scared is because i scared of dying, i have that fear of dying on the table or when i get out, i worry too much =/...anywho i have a question, what are some strength or resistance exercises? and endurance exercises? lol sorry if thats a stupid question but the gave me a chart to follow for exercises way at the begining of my process, and i want to follow it, i was doing my own thing, but i just found out i had a chart and it will help me better with the excerising. i had another question wait no, i was gonna post something in the protein shake part or something, the nutritionist gave some recipies for the shakes so they wont get boring, did you guys get any? she gave recipies for; chocolate shakes: Chocolate raspberry delight and chocolate coconut shake and vanilla: Pumpkin pie and vinilla root beer float, if you didnt get those or if they're not in that section(if there even is a section)ask for them and ill post them on here. but yeah my most and biggest fear about this is the dying part, it scares me to death and i think thats why my dad is worried/scared about it too =/ i guess if i ever do,(which i know i wont, its just my nerves) its from a great cause, right? what can i do to calm my nerves down?...16 more days =D!! okay i need to shut up now but thanks for reading or whatnot

Getting & keeping a boy/girlfriend?
i've had a boyfriend, =/ wasnt nothing special, not a virgin(), been kissed, last kiss was amazing,(not the guy i had as bf) but he scares me now kinda, he broke my heart last year(not the guy i had as a bf) so i feel that every guy i meet will do the same. im so shy i cant even look a guy in the face cause i think hes starring at my ugliness(lol) but i hope when i lose most of my weight i find someone i can trust and be with for a long time maybe forever? i dont know, i want to lose weight first though, yet im also scared that i wont find somebody, maybe my confidence level will go up =D

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Young Teen!
haha no question is a stupid one! (: so its your very first appointment? okay what i can remember is that we got weighed, we talked about what surgery we're getting, he/she will explain how it works, and they'll talk about exercising, they'll go over how much weight you need to lose before surgery, i needed to lose 11 or 12(i started out at 240 now at 228, was 225 but i gained 3 back ). they'll have you go on a fat free diet before the next appointment (well at my appointment they did), i cant really remember what else happened =/ it was last september lol, but my second appointment is the one i remember the most because it was a hectic day haha, ill tell you, so i went on the fat free low carb diet the 2 days before the appointment, and i had to fast the night before the appointment because i had to get blood work, i think they checked vitamin level or something like that i cant remember what else i had to get blood work for but i think there were like 5 test tubes (you might be different and have less tubes but your doc might be different too) we talked to the nutritionist, rehabilitation center(fitness), had to get my lungs checked, had to get xrays of my lungs/heart, eep, they will give you handouts starting at the second appointment(im not sure cause each doctor is different) one from the nutritionist maybe a few which talk about what you should be eating (adjustable gastric banding: nutrition guidelines is what my packet is called) must have the protein which will be explained in the packet and you'll get one from the fitness talks about exercises and stretching and how to stretch (specifics of exercise is my packet) but yeah you probably didnt need too know my experience with my second appointment, i just couldnt remember much from the first one ): but what i said at the begining thats basically what they'll talk about, they'll probably talk about they diets you've tried and why they havent worked and probably ask you how long you've been overweight, why you gotten overweight, why you think lap band is best for you, things like that (: haha sorry that was long

heyy (: , im 18, ive been trying to find young people like myself, im getting my band on july 31st, its been a very long journey so far, my mom was supposed to get it with me, but she hasnt lost all the required weight she was supposed to, i lost mine first so my date is set now, shes getting there though! =] well i dont know if im too old for what youre looking for, but just to let you know i am here whenever you need someone to talk to for support, dont be afraid to ask questions or anything, ill be more than happy to answer them (:

primary doc said i was too young
im a 18 year old female, im getting my surgery on the 31st of this month and when i talked to my doctor about it way at the begining, he didnt really like the idea but he still supports me all the way, he sent in his letter of support. the losing the weight part, everyone is different. if you do your part you will lose weight. to me your doctor isnt a very good doctor, but try talking to her, tell her its your decission to get it done and all you need is her letter of support/refferal, if she still doesnt send it in id say search for a new doctor, good luck =]

Excess skin, hmh
i'm not banded yet, and i haven't gotten my date yet(most likely will get it on july 8th). but im kind of concerned about the excess skin. i was told that since im still quite young, i wont have as much. I only need to lose 113-116 pounds to get to my final goal weight, should i still be fine? i dont care if i have a little, but i want my tummy to be flat, and i want to be able to wear a bikini with confidence next year, and i want to beable to get the tattoo i want without the skin hanging over it (i want it on my hip bones) i dont want to have to worry about getting a tummy tuck or anything like that, just keep doing cardio

I mean for like breakfast, i get up at 5 when school is in seccession and thats when i have breakfast, i get ready at 5:55, leave to go to school at 6:50, lunch isnt usually til 10:32-1:24pm and i wont be having a lunch period because im going to CV-Tec for cosmetology(its like a college you can take during highschool if you like, the school pays for it, its also for anyone else thats out of school too ) and the classes i want to take fill up all my periods and i hate eating infront of people, thats why i skipped lunch most of the time and i know its not good but im embarrassed, im working to fix that, maybe by time school gets here ill be some pounds lighter and more confindent, what would i bring for lunch? what would be good? oh and how would i beable to exercise? i have a job, which i work twice a week and its a cleaning job (yuck) and i might be getting another job so ill be working 5 days a week. I wont be getting home from school til 3:05pm (i would be getting home at 2:30 but do to cv-tec class) on monday's and thursdays i clean from 4-8pm and i want my other job to be on tuesdays, wednesdays(4-8pm), and saturday(10am-4pm) i might get another cleaning job at a hotel or something, so will those be counted as exercise? Available Lap Band Buddy / Mentor lets help each other
The classes are to help understand everything but it's kind of ridiculous because I could have had a date and still go to them I think they're support groups I think for people who are at the same stage maybe :/ I love this website it has all of my questions answered :frown: but when I do have a question day of an appointment I always forget what it was maybe I should write them down huh? Nice, I can't wait to get one myself, hopefully I could wear a bikini and be a more confinedent person! That's great (: So do notice the port like as if you're standing up and walking, do you feel like a normal person like if you didn't have the band? What are the fills like? I know they use the needles, do they numb it? How quick did you start exercising? What kind of exercises did you do? Anywho I lost 15 pounds and I was required to lose 11 so that's good ah I can't think of anything else but I will keep you updated :welldone2:

Available Lap Band Buddy / Mentor lets help each other
hii (: I'm 9 months into this and I haven't gotten my surgery date yet but I have been approved to get it done, my next appointment which is a weigh in and then to a class, last class I went to was mindful eating/nutrition and I had an appt schedualed for the 9th for the next class which I think is about exercising I think but I reschedualed it and now it's July 8th, do you think when I go they will give me a surgery date? It kind of makes me upset because I thought I'd have atleast a surgery date by now. Annd when you lay on your stomach can you feel the band? I'm also afraid that I won't wake up , did you get any lose skin, alot? I was told since I'm young I won't have much. Can you feel the band? Is it easier to exercise once you lost all your weight?(congrats by the way) Thanks

Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?
I'm keeping mine a secret only my mom and dad knows, my mom is getting it too. My older brother (24) would try to talk us out of it and he would tell us it's stupid. Can't tell my friends because they wouldn't be supportive of it and probably think it's stupid as well. I don't know if I'm going to keep it a secret after I get the surgery or not. But as of now it will be

2 more appointments to go!
Hi peoples. So after this tuesday i have two more appointments to go til i find out about a surgery date..(hope my insurence approves..they covered every thing else by the way) can i ask a few questions? ok if you do all the exercising you're supposed to, will you have a lot of excess skin? that kind of scares me a little bit, because i dont think my insurence would cover for surgery to get it removed..anyways, im getting 2 new piercings(no comments) for my birthday, and they should be healed by the time of surgery date. will i most likely be able to put retainers in them? so i wont have to worrie about them closing up. ill ask my dr. how do you guys feel when you got banded, do you think its the best thing thats happened to you? sorry about it being long, im just still a lil nervous anyways take care peeps =]
