i am a 23 yr old female, married with 3 girls. i was diganosed with an underactive thyroid about 2 yrs ago, after a very difficult pregnancy with my twins. after i delivered i was 160 lbs but quickly gained upto 220 lbs over less than a yr (about 9 m.) Now that i've finally found out the reason behind the rapid weight gain(after being ignored by docs for 9 m.) i have still been gaining weight, not as significant amounts, and totally uable to lose any amount of weight despite my best efforts. i have changed my diet; whole grains, water, low cal, diet pop only (if any) and here recently have learned that i have degeneration in the lower lubar with disc protusion. now making it damn near impossible to exersice without really hurting during and afterwards. i know that i need to lose weight for hearlth reason and truely would love to be at a healthy weight for my kids and husband....but now i'm looking at back surgery in the near future if i dont lose weight and get the extra pressure off my spine! i've been thinking about this secretly for awhile now and have been really researching for the past few weeks. so today i went in to see my primary physican to talk about my bmi and have this procedure done and she flat out said "you're too young" she also went on about a cpl of patients she has that have had this done and have lost nothing at all. like i said before i am 23, but i weight 232 lbs with a bmi of 37, a medical condition that makes it near impossible to lose weight and another medical condition that if i dont lose a significant amount of weight i'm looking at surgery & being disabled before 30.
