  1. Why do you feel alone? Did you tell your family and friends you got the surgery? My family and friends have been very supportive. Everyone's very encouraging.
  2. Well, both good ideas, but maybe buy him a reasonably priced shirt or hoodie or pair of pants that's 1-2 sizes smaller that he can look forward to wearing. More personal than the card
  3. I had to go on a third BP med after RNY. Now it's ok
  4. Sorry to hear it. I'm sure someone told you already, but now you should avoid calcium carbonate as a vitamin b/c they can increase kidney stones. Take calcium citrate instead. More expensive unfortunately ? Glad you're feeling better though!
  5. Do you have a scale that measures muscle mass? Maybe you've gone up!
  6. Sorry you're not feeling well. It will get better! Time flies... can't believe I'm two months out
  7. I think the problem of traveling is sitting in one place for a long time. The doctors worry about blood clots. But I think 6 weeks is okay. You're just not supposed to sit around for more than 2 hours at the time I think. Also you're assuming everything goes okay with your surgery., I wish I hope it does!
  8. I take stool softener regularly. The dietician said to eat more vegetables, but that's hard to do when aiming for protein goals first!
  9. I'm 8 weeks out and I'm still not focused at all calories. Just protein and water. My program said nothing of counting calories
  10. It's in grams, but not per 100. It's the total then a % of recommended daily allowance
  11. If you can finish, you absolutely should for the nutrition. Hit that protein goal! You're eating so few calories it doesn't matter! That's my opinion anyway! I'm almost 6 weeks out from bypass.
  12. You can definitely supplement soft foods with protein shakes. If you're having trouble meeting your goal, drink one or two of those during the day
  13. I'm sorry you had to go back to work so quickly. I took two weeks off ( no pay). I thought that was the minimum!
  14. I agree that you could be building muscle. Measurements might help allay your concerns. I had my bypass 2 days after you. I don't mean this as a criticism at all, but I am wondering how you can eat 4-5 oz of chicken? The most I can get down is 2 boiled eggs, or half a can of chili (200g). In terms of your protein it's a good thing, especially since you are working out so much. Calories probably don't matter too much either, even though i think that's more than a standard serving size. When's your next visit with the nutritionist? I'm curious what they might say? Hang in there!
  15. Did you try any beef or chicken broth? Sugar free: jello; pudding; Popsicles?
  16. I only got protein and fluid goals!
  17. I am on week 5. The stall lasted me week 4, and then I lost a couple pounds without really doing anything this week. As for constipation, the struggle is real. I took some laxative last night. Wish me luck!
  18. You can message me if you want. I live in Massachusetts and had RNY a month ago.
  19. Can someone provide a link to a good recipe and explanation of what a ricotta bake is? Is it just lasagna without the noodles? I've never heard of such a thing but I'm looking for new recipes.
  20. I started vitamins one week post-op. The instructed me to take the chewables. I have the bariatric pal chewable multi with 45 g of iron. I think the flavor is mixed berry. It tastes okay. They also advised me not to take capsules. So I have to open up the Prilosec gel cap and pour the medicine on applesauce. All my other medications are pills and I cut them in half. I've had no problems with nausea.
  21. On week 4 , I'm allowed shrimp so I had shrimp cocktail with cocktail sauce the other night! It was a nice treat. I'm also allowed chili, so I bought organic canned chili by Amy. Paired it with shredded Mexican cheese and sour cream. I also eat the foods other people mentioned except ricotta bake. I don't know what that is. Also, I added shaved deli ham to my scrambled egg and cheese on week 4 .
  22. Being in pain can cause high blood pressure
  23. I'm sorry I can't help. My surgery date was February 15th, so we're about the same time. But my brain doesn't feel any different
  24. It doesn't say Greek on it. Doesn't taste bitter to me, though it has a similar consistency. The protein comes from whey powder according to the website.
