  1. Never a dull moment, huh? My favorite time of the weekend is sunday eves at 6pm (CST) when America's Funniest Videos is on, and Steve is attentive to a T. You can hear his guffaws and belly laughs from every room in the house. He loves a good prank too and I love his sense of humor.
  2. Once again, you put into words what a lot of us will be thinking. You Rock Band Groupie!
  3. Well, my man has a crush on a shorter blonder weather lady on another station, I was the one that always watched the one Julie was on! They must switch up the news people often, we saw another lady (co-anchor this time) doing the news in Miami when we were visiting that area! Steve noticed her and told me...too funny.
  4. OMG, I wondered where Julie went. She has two kids now and we got to see her pregnancies progress here in Dallas and at the end of her 2nd pregnancy she was gone! Glad to know she's landed on her feet. this is one of the six degrees of separation things, huh!

Seriously, is that a boy child or girl child? Too funny!
  6. You are doing terrific, has the weight loss been from the pre-op or something else? Good job!

LOL, I love Edward too. nice blog!
  8. Even though all doctors subscribe to a different set of pre-op rules, i've noticed a WIDE variety of liquid diets on here. Mine will consist of the usual broths and also includes yogurt, applesauce, grits, popsicles, pudding and even mashed potatoes! No real mention of protein shakes, but I can add stuff to my milk intake to make it taste better, ie, Carnation instant breakfast mixes. The supposed goal of the pre-op is to shrink the liver, to make access to the stomach easier and less risky. Post op goals are to not irritate the new stomach and to promote healing. I think it sounds like you are doing fine if you are losing and by keeping things as liquid-like as possible, I'd say you are on the right track. Good Luck.
  9. Wow, can't stand any of them, I'd rather be June Bug! I'll go with the group though, but I won't like it...hehehee. kathi
  10. June 22nd here at Baylor in Grapevine. I'll be doing the liquids for 2 weeks and will actually be in Disneyland the week prior to my surgery! Willpower will get me through! I can't wait. Kathi

Ok, too hilarious and that bird, where do you get these photos? Now, what does PB stand for, I've seen it and know it has to do with barfing, but just can't come up with it on my own! K
  12. I have long been a proponent of not telling. I've kept my circle of those in the know to a select few. No one at work except my boss will know and just a few family members. As I lose, I may change my mind, but for now I'm sharing with my LBT friends here and getting support from my surgeon and his staff and the support groups I attend. I did have some wonderful insight from a very good friend who has struggled with weight loss that I will share. The more people around you who do know, the more accountable you become! Oh yeah, the food police will be everywhere and I have to ask myself is that why I don't want them to know? I am not that much of a 'private' person and I don't particularly care what others think and I believe I'm pretty thick-skinned about comments. I do want the support of those around me and I am certain that they will be told sooner than later. I guess it will just have to be on my terms. Another comment that I've heard that I feel is really relevant is, You can't unring a bell, once you've told people the cat is out of the bag and won't be put back in! I'm getting banded on June 22 and can't wait!

Good for you, thanks for the blog. Good luck and I'll be watching for more updates. Kay
  14. I'm pre op (June 22) and I buckled down and quit my Diet Coke habit well over a month ago. It is hard, ice tea is my new diet coke. My nutritionist also turned me onto Lifewater (only 3 flavors of 0 calories) and Powerade Zero, mixed berry and grape so far. Still want the carbonation, but this variety has been helpful for me so far. Also, i've tried every flavor of mix-in from Walmart and I'm a peach ice tea LOVER. Crystal lite raspberry lemonade is wonderful too. Congrats, your progress is inspiring. Kathi

Good luck. I'm going to be on a 2 week pre op diet soon, my tentative date is June 22. I'll actually be in Disneyland the entire week before surgery...what a bite@! But, something will always be coming up, so the time is now, I'm approved and I'm ready. Keep up posted and remember, when the hungries get really bad, take a nap! Can't eat while you're sleeping! Kay
  16. great insight. Hope this goes well for you. K
  17. Lovely pics, even with no faces, and is that you in the older photo? Looks like you could be the blonde. I will have to get to the movies soon to see Star Trek, my oldest just picked up a second job at our local theater, so free movies for us (I hope)! I'm glad you had a wonderful Mother's Day, enjoy your week and have a good visit with the dr. tomorrow. kathi

I have sympathy, but maybe this is the payback for no pre op diet? They just gotta mess with you somehow, right? It ain't right I say. I"m looking at my banding on a Monday, one night in hosp and then going back to work the next Monday. I hope I get some semblance of mushies by then. Have a good rest of the week/weekend. Kathi
  19. how bout some exercise? walking, will that help any? It is supposed to energize your metabolism, right? Not at all looking forward to no food, . And i need to schedule a colonoscopy...during the liquid diet, after the band, before real food? when will be a good time? I know, I'll ask the DR TOMORROW at my APPT! yeeeehaaww!
  20. i love naps, especially when it is cloudy and rainy out. Hope you get your full 40 winks and NO MORE! Take care, mush food is on the horizon! k

Congratulations on your decision. I think it will be very exciting to surprise your husband with a new and healthier YOU. I'm sure you can join a support group in the area from your surgeon's office, the best ones all have them. And, you will make lots of friends here too. Good luck and keep positive.
  22. Hey BG, so happy for your weekend and the DD's graduation. My youngest is my on again off again college student and since she began work at a doctor's office she has become very interested in a nursing degree! Yippee, a medical professional in my family! Still waiting on a call from my dr for proceeding, but i'll fill you in as soon as i know something. kathi
  23. I agree with BGL Mom, do what they want and it should end in approval. I am with BCBS federal and did the supervised visits, pysch eval and provided a medical history over the last 5 years. Finished up on April 8 and got an approval letter in the mail on Saturday!!! yipppeee for me. Hoping for a date in May. Will keep you posted. kay

Just opened today's mail and there is an approval letter from my insurance! Yeah!!! I'm hoping for May also, good luck to you.
  25. I'm throwing my sombrero into the ring, I got an approval letter in the mail today and I'll be making my surgeon appt on Monday for as soon as they can see me. I'm going to be a Mayo Bandito and I'm ready! I started looking into this process last August and if my insurance hadn't changed I would have been banded for over 3 months by now. That's ok, more time to get ready! I see I'm in excellent company and looking forward to the journey with all the other May banders! Kathi
