Looking for lap-banders around Eureka CA

I know your post is old but i am hoping you are still on here. Is there a lap band doctor in Eurkea?
  2. I use the New whey Protein bullets to make Jello for Snacks to help with protein intake. There is a lot of controversy on this site about this so i am not here to stir anything up i just wanted to post a breakdown of the ingredients so that everyone can make the decision for themselves. Please no lectures or arguments this is just informational for everyone. . Ingredients: Pure deionized water: Good. Actinase (patent pending blend of enzymatically hydrolyzed (predigested) collagenic protein isolate):It is all natural, hypoallergenic, both acid and alkaline stable, and complete. Actinase also stimulates the body’s metabolism and caloric burn rate. Whey protein isolate: Highest yield of protein avaialable. Immune boosting properties. Contains less lactose. Casein protein isolate: Certain people should avoid Malic acid:medicine used to clean and get the surface of a tooth ready before it is filled. It can also be used to peel the skin (usually the face) and to treat muscle or bone pain. Side Effects: Stop taking your medicine right away and talk to your doctor if you have any of the following side effects. Your medicine may be causing these symptoms which may mean you are allergic to it. Breathing problems or tightness in your throat or chest Chest pain Skin hives, rash, or itchy or swollen skin Myovol™l Complex (proprietary blend of leucine, valine, and isoluceine): Leucine: Essential Amino Acid. Leucine has been found to slow the degradation of muscle tissue by increasing the synthesis of muscle Proteins. Leucine is utilized in the liver, adipose tissue, and muscle tissue. In adipose and muscle tissue, leucine is used in the formation of sterols, and the combined usage of leucine in these two tissues is seven times greater than its use in the liver. Valine: One of the nine essential amino acids that's a major player in the growth and maintenance of body tissues (it's found primarily in fibrous animal proteins). Shortfalls of valine have produced loss of muscular coordination in lab rats as well as hypersensitivity to pain, heat and cold. Valine is an amino acid some infants can't metabolize. This metabolic disorder produces a condition called maple syrup urine disease (see Isoleucine). Isoluceine: One of the nine essential amino acids. It's found in all foods that contain complete protein (meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk and dairy products). The body's inability to metabolize isoleucine (as well as leucine and valine, two other amino acids) causes maple syrup urine disease, so named because of the sweet smell of the urine. It is a genetic disease showing up in newborns, with symptoms appearing within four or five days. The babies refuse to feed, become lethargic and may vomit. Failure to treat the condition can lead to seizures, coma and death. Although this rare metabolic defect isn't fully understood, doctors are able to treat it. All natural flavors: Always good. Aacesulfame-potassium:also known as Acesulfame K or just Ace-K—is a calorie-free sweetener used in more than 5,000 food, beverage and pharmaceutical products in over 100 countries around the world. It is 200 times sweeter than sugar. Helps health and weight conscious consumers who are looking to reduce unnecessary calories in foods and beverages. Acesulfame Potassium is frequently found in combination with other non-caloric or caloric sweeteners. Does not promote tooth decay and is also suitable for people with diabetes. In the past 30 to 40 years, almost 100 studies have been conducted on the safety of Acesulfame Potassium. They have consistently shown that this sweetener is safe and suitable for human consumption. Discovered in 1967 by Hoechst scientists in Frankfurt, Germany, it has been used in food and beverages since 1983 and is approved in more than 100 countries around the world. Sucralose: Sucralose is the low-calorie sweetener made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar. It is about 600 times sweeter than sugar and can be used in place of sugar to eliminate or reduce calories in a wide variety of products, including beverages, baked goods, Desserts, dairy products, canned fruits, syrups and condiments. Sucralose has an excellent safety profile. More than 100 scientific studies conducted over a 20-year period demonstrate that sucralose is safe for use as a sweetening ingredient. The data from the studies were independently evaluated by international experts in a variety of scientific disciplines, including toxicology, oncology, teratology, neurology, hematology, pediatrics and nutrition. Importantly, comprehensive toxicology studies, designed to meet the highest scientific standards, have clearly demonstrated that sucralose is not carcinogenic. Blue 1 and Red 40: Blue 1 = Avoid. Unsafe in amounts consumed or is very poorly tested. Red 40 = Caution. May pose a risk and needs to be better tested. CONTAINS NO PRESERVATIVES: Always best.

    1 Month and...

Hey Yayforme, Haven't heard from you in awhile. The fill didn't hurt any more than getting a blood draw. Mine has varied greatly - week 1 was like 8 lbs, week 2 was 4 lbs, and week 3 i refused to weigh myself since i started solid foods and couldn't handle the diappointment and week 4 was 4.6 lbs. Technically you are ahead of me darling just keep going you can do this!!!! remember protien first then veggie. And once you get a fill i am sure it will be alot easier, i am so happy i got a fill today and Dr. Soong even did the fill not a PA and he walked me through it step by step no problems.

I think it varies a lot her in the states, some people do preop diets, some don't, and when you get a fill is all over the place. Thanks for your input!

Turkey Day - at my house?!?!

You can do this!!! While cooking eat a very strong mint to keep you from picking. The mushy food suggestions are great, and do your best to enjoy the event. I would consider it an honor that they are trusting you with this family event. I am with you only my immediate family knows i had surgery and it is going to stay that way. I am not lying i am just telling people i am working hard a getting healthy!!! I took a few days off work for some me time and that is all they need to know. Take care and just remember like the whole lapband thing you can do this to!!! Take Care!
  12. Looking for opinions from those who have used: Resource Beneprotein Instant Protein powder? What have you mixed it with? and how well did it dissolve? and the flavor? Thanks:rolleyes2:
  13. Okay i have decided that the reason we can only have liquids for a set period of time after surgery is that when we go back to eating we will actually crave the right foods. I have two more weeks and i would give anything for a salad or some grilled veggies!

    September Get-Together

I am a new bander  August 28th to be exact but would love to meet all of you and get together. So if it is okay with all of you i would love to join you at claim jumpers. J
  18. Hey Michelle,

I am not sure where you live i am in vegas, and if you are anywhere close and would like to get together please let me know or you can email me at anytime. I to have depression and i am on the generic zoloft and it tends to make my stomach a little upset but i can't stop taking it. My husband died a few years ago and even though i wasn't crying all the time and didn't think i was depressed i was and i was slowly shuting down my body and gaining weight regardless of what i ate or what i did so i can understand to an extent i am newly banded but not new to depression or anxiety and am more than willling to do anything i can to help. take care, Jaime

  19. I have a lot of scar tissue in my trechea (?) and esauphagus (sp?) and worried about this same thing and they did not have a problem at all so i hope last time was a doctors problem and this time I pray it goes much better for you.
  20. and Patty, yes my port side does itch a little and is more sore than the rest i am sure they did a little stretching to get the band in and what not. i have glue no staples or stiches so its nice it doesn't rub on my clothes or anything.
  21. Okay in no way do i want to start a war of the Protein wars but the main way i am getting my protien is with using the New whey protien bullets from GNC and making Jello with them I spoke to my doctor and the nutritionist and they did not seem to have a problem with the new why protien bullets so i feel comfortable using them...if you want some more ideas for using them please send a private message i don't want to get blasted for mentioning them by those who don't agree.
  22. I am with you every surgeon is so different, and i am doing the same following exactly what he says, I hope you feel better soon, and do what your surgeon says because in no way am i a doctor. take care and praying for a quick recovery for you.
  23. My doc has no problem with Ibpro. he said just to cut them in half and it really helps because it is an anti-inflamatory, like they gave me in the hospital the first night
  24. I know what you mean, before surgery some of the stories on here had me totally freaked out. Part of the reason i wanted to post a good story. Also congrats to you as well
