Donuts are not worth it....what's your food that's not worth it???
I have problems with bread products. Tortilla's are not my friend. I also love the bread basket that comes around when I eat out. But, I have to be very careful, eat tiny bites and eat slow in order to not be sick. Steak and roast don't usually sit well with me. I get the intense pain in my chest and back that makes me want to pass out. Most times I get sick - I should learn by now the foods that are a problem and avoid them at all cost. I've tried donuts and they are not worth it in my book, I just avoid them. I still love the foods I love, I'm hard headed I guess.

Sex
For me we waited about 9 days after surgery. We did it standing up in the shower. I got him all worked up and then we did a modified doggy style, and it didn't cause me any pain . The next time we were lying down at less than 2 weeks and I had a BIG O and that was painful. I was sore for a while afterwords. Everyone is different, but the main thing is to take it easy the first few times and give yourself time to heal.

constipation since band
I am so glad to find this thread. I had my lap band surgery on November 18th, and immediately had the runs, now that problem is fixed I continue to be constipated. I was just about to the point of calling the Dr's office if I couldn't find some info about fixing this problem. Thanks for all your help, I'm going to try the miralax, colace or MOM this evening.

~november bandsters~
I am 3 days post surgery and am doing pretty well. My stomach is sore and I have gas but it is tolerable. Rest when you can and walk, walk, walk and it does help. I am still getting help getting in and out of the bed but otherwise I am getting around pretty well. Each day is a little better. As far as being hungry - no, I am not. I have to take in 50 grams of protein a day and all the liquids I can handle and that's hard to do, I just don't have an appitite. Good luck on your surgery.

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
I just got home from the hospital . I had surgery on Tuesday morning. The surgeon discovered a hiatial hernia during surgery that I didn't know I had and had to repair it also. So surgery took longer than expected. I'm doing good but real sore. The worst part of the entire experience was having the upper GI procedure to check for leaks in the hernia repair and to make sure the band was working, it tasted so bad and I was so close to getting sick, I survived the 1 and 1/2 hour drive and so glad to be home. Good luck to everyone else who was recently banded.

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
I met with the surgeon, dietition and did all the pre-admit stuff yesterday. Surgery is in less than 4 days! I am so excited and nervous too. I have been doing 2 protein drinks a day with one lean cuisine type meal a day. The dietition said I can have 2 lean cuisine meals a day if I like, and have an additional protein drink if I choose. WOW, I'm so excited that I can have a small piece of chicken and green vegetables twice a day up until the day before surgery. Isn't it strange how every pre-op diet is different and every dietition has different rules to go by. Good luck to all on the pre-op diet.

Getting banded in November, Reality Setting In!
Yes, as a matter of fact. I am sticking to the liquid diet. I have been on it for 7 days and it is not easy, but it is possible with lots of determination:thumbup:. I want my surgery to be a success and I definitely don't want to have a "fatty liver" and have my surgery postponed. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 18th at 7:00am. Good luck to you.

First visit with surgeon.
My first visit to meet my surgeon I was also scheduled to meet with a dietition, nurse and financial agent all in the same building. The surgeon just asked what surgery I was interested in and why. He asked me some health questions and then he went over what the band was about and how it worked. It was an informative visit but I didn't ask any involved questions that day. I just wanted to meet the surgeon and his staff and find out more about how he performs the procedure. He was very personable and answered all my questions that I had. Mainly just go in and answer their questions and listen to what they have to tell you. Pretty informal in my case.

How many calories are you having a day?
I'm just curious, I'm on my pre-operation liquid protein diet, with 1 small high protein meal. I was wondering how many calories you consume in a day. I have been averaging about 600 to 750 calories a day. Is this average, low or high?

For those with BMI 35-40?
I only weighed 218 at my heaveist weight and when I tell some people that I am scheduled to have lap band surgery they say, "just exercise more and lose it that way". I've tried exercise, weight watchers, etc and it doesn't work for me. I am only 5' 1" and 218lbs makes my BMI at 41, how much more unhealthy do people think I should get before I have major health problems. My husband, kids and best friend are supportive of my decision and I know I can make this work.

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
Fasting no, I am on a liquid protein diet per my nutritionist instructions. I have 2 high protein drinks a day and 1 high protein meal with extremely low fat or I can have a lean cusine meal once a day. Between meals I can have broth, sugar free jello, sugar free pop sickles etc. I'm making it okay. Somedays I'd really like something to eat, other days I am doing okay. Good luck to everyone on their up coming surgeries, mine is November 18th, 7:00am at UT Southwestern in Dallas.

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
Where do most of you buy your protein drinks? I've found a few at Wal-Mart and Walgreens but haven't gone to GNC yet.

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
My dietitioin requires that the protein be 20 or above, 7 grams or less of carbs/sugar and 5 grams or less of fat. It is tough to find all these combinations. I believe the slimfast only has 15 grams of protein. Does anyone know of protein drinks with 20 or more grams of protein?

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
I am 11 days away from surgery and I am so excited. I'm sure I will get nervous right before, but I am doing okay right now. I agree that all the things that can, might, and have happend to the bandsters going before me, is a huge help to prepare me for what I can expect. A heartfelt thank you to everyone that puts their experiences on LBT!
