My Surgery was Yesterday and Today I am having second thoughts!!!!!
Hi. It will pass, but it will pass faster if you can work yourself to do some walking. Walking really helped the gas move. Don't get me wrong, I still have some gas, but nothing near like it was. Since you were banded yesterday, that makes you a September Samurai. We have an entire subforum September 2008 Bandsters - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum. If you go there, you will read about several people who had surgery on the same day or just days before you. I think at some point we all have questioned what we have done. Just give it time. The more liquids that you can get in, you may start to feel better. You could be on the verge of dehydration if you aren't able to get much liquid in. Just get up and move slowly. It may take a few days, but you will feel better.

I even tried changing them to see if they made a difference. I haven't seen anything different on any page. hmmm

Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
I will, if you will. I did ok with the liquid diet at first, but today I wanted food. I cooked dinner for my family and it smelled so good. During the liquid diet, I wanted food but none of it appealed to me. Today it was a stuggle to keep that food out of my mouth. I want to chew and swallow a real piece of meat. Not a protein drink. grrrr

Your Scars
I am less than a week post op so my incisions are still pretty new. I will say this, I don't know how much experience my surgeon had with people of color, but if the way they look right now is any hint as to what they are going to look like, I am NOT going to get to wear a bikini. EVER. My surgeon used sutures and glue to close them. They look so jagged and rough. They told me not to use anything on them for at least 2 weeks after surgery. All I can say is this, I would rather have ugly scars on a healthier/skinnier me, than to have a perfectly clear/fat stomach anyday!

Just gotta vent
Hi. You are not alone. I haven't even had my band a week and am wondering what in the heck am I doing? I am sure that it is normal to question such a huge decision like this. Also to quit smoking at the same time, that is so tough. Don't give up on your band yet. It is still so new to you. I don't know who your surgeon is, but my surgeon stressed that this is not going to be quick fix. It is also going to be a learning process. There is, unfortunately, no set amount of fill that they can give to get you to your sweet spot. Just keep going to your doctor. It will get better. Keep coming on here. The people here are going through the same thing as you. Keep your chin up. You can do this. We can all do this. You came in this with hope. Don't give that hope up so soon. I wish you the best of luck.

Smoking after being banded
From my understanding, smoking can make it harder for you to heal. That was the less obvious reason that my doctor gave. Good luck to you.

Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
I've done pretty good so far. I've not really had any pain (not even from gas). I'm dealing with head hunger, and my total lack of interest in my liquid diet. How about you?

Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
Hey, we had the same surgery date. It makes me feel better to know that other people feel the same way that I do. I am so glad that I stumbled onto this forum.:cool2:

Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
I tried the carnation instant breakfast this afternoon. It helped for a little while. I drank it for a mid afternoon snack because I just felt so empty. It only lasted about an hour. I made myself wait to have more soup. I made an appointment with a counselor that deals only with food issues. I can only hope that she offers some other tools to add to the arsenal.

To those of you banded earlier this month...
I am curious to know how you dealt with your healing incisions. My incisions are itching so badly. I am one of those people that can't leave a mosquito bite alone, so I am really struggling to not mess with these. Did you find anything that helped with the itchiness?

Calcium Chews???
My surgeon recommends the calcium citrate wafers from GNC. They actually said that the Viactiv chews have too much sugar and can get stuck once you have restriction.

TOM - Are you tighter?
Well, unless I am swelling again, I am definitely tighter this morning. I just tried to have less than 1/2 cup of "soup" and couldn't finish it. I am now extremely full. This is really weird. Thankfully I went slow with it, or I would probably be sick right now. I wonder why that seems to affect the band?

Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
Hi all. First I wanted to say to NayRay that I am so sorry for you loss. I know words cannot express what you are going through. I hope that you are able to find the peace to deal with everything. I am 4 days post op and decided to schedule an appointment with a counselor. I am already starting to deal with head hunger. I am not physically hungry, but my mind wants something NOW. I want to try to nip this in the bud before it becomes a problem later on. I recognize what part head hunger played in getting me to this point to begin with. I have been trying to keep a journal to help me see what exactly I am feeling that causes me to want to medicate that feeling with food. I can see it, but I don't know how to fix it on my own. I hope that anyone else that has felt this way has figured out a way to cope without turning to food.

September 24th band surgeries
I have to say that all of you ladies are amazing! It is so nice to see everyone doing so well after surgery. Debbie, I really like what you said about helping someone out of their fat cocoon. That is so awesome! I can only hope that I am able to be sucess story for my PCP and surgeon. My PCP was never against the surgery at all, but I could tell that she wonders if I will be able to make a go of it since I was not able to do it on my own. I hope I can prove it to her and myself. I hope we all can. You all have a great day!

I have done a search and could not find the answer to this. Is there a way to change the default font and color for replies and new threads?

Tomorrow is our day
I am saying a prayer for all of you having surgery today. Be blessed.

help!! my surgery is 2 days away and i have a sinus infection coming on!
I had the same situation. My sinuses started acting up the weekend before my surgery. I made an appointment with my PCP. She gave me an antibiotic shot and a prescription for antibiotics. I am actually still taking the antibiotics for a few days after surgery. Just call them, the worse thing that they can say is postpone the surgery. If they do, it will be for your health. Good luck to you.

Can't stop coughing! Help!!
Do you cough both sitting up and laying down? I had my surgery 09/25 and have noticed if I lay down on my back, I end up coughing. Of course, it hurts to cough, so I wake up. I have tried to holding the pillow to make it more comfortable to cough, but it doesn't really work for me.

TOM - Are you tighter?
To all of you that responded to the poll, did you notice if you got tighter during your TOM even before your first fill? I am 3 days post op, but noticed today (at the start of TOM:angry_smile:) that although my liquids are going down, they aren't going down as easy. Just curious to know the answer to that.
