  1. My surgery was about 1 year ago and I've lost 100lbs. I started at 225lbs and I'm 5'1
  2. So proud of myself. Almost 1 year to the day and I made it! Woohooo!!!!
  3. Dude, I feel you! I always had a big butt I'm currently trying to tone and add muscle to that area but sitting is a real problem for me. I was wondering if it was just me so thanks for posting. It's nice to know I'm not alone
  4. This is my progress so far 8 months post op and 18 lbs from my goal weight. HW 225 SW 197 CW 134 HT 5'1"
  5. NSV for me is wearing these beautiful shoes for 9 hours!
  6. Try a rosemary oil hair mask for 10-15 minutes 2 x a week and massage your scalp. It's helped me a lot. My hair is long it goes down to my butt and it was getting really thin, I lost a ton of hair. I started doing the mask and in about 2 weeks I had new growth. I still do the mask 2 x a week to prevent any more hair loss. I hope this helps [emoji171]
  7. A long cell phone charging cord, chapstick, toothbrush and a book. I packed a bunch of other stuff and never used it. Best of luck to you!
  8. Thanks everyone! My surg team says I can't use anything topical, but they are having me try some oral steroids. Fingers crossed it will work
  9. Hey everybody, I am 5 days post op and my incision sites are itching like crazy. I still have my staples - they get removed on the 25th- my question is what can I do about the itching? I can't use lotions or creams but I'm thinking maybe bio oil? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  10. I am feeling much better and doing as much walking as I can so I have very little gas pain today. I ended up with an abdominal binder and it helped with the pain so much. I wear it when I go on my longer walks or in the car. I've met my intake goals for the last 3 days in a row. I'm feeling very positive. The most difficult part for me right now is that I am craving meat. I still have a couple weeks to go until I actually get to chew meat but the days are going by more quickly than I thought they would. It helps that I'm napping a lot lol. I hope every one here is well and moving forward
  11. Had my surgery yesterday. Still in hospital, hopefully I will be discharged tomorrow. I'm sore and tired, but my vitals are good. Time for another nap
  12. My surgery is the same day! Good luck to you
  13. My program says no more that 40g per day, once you are on the final stage.
  14. Update, my insurance pulled my approval the day before I was scheduled for surgery (April 12th) I just found out after what feels like a horribly long process that my Doctor has gotten approval from the head of claims. Hallelujah! Now, I have to wait for another surgery date. Fingers crossed it's soon.
  15. The choice is yours ultimately, if you think they will be negative then don't tell them. It really is no one's business but yours. If you need or want more support I suggest finding a surgery buddy, someone who is having the same surgery around the same time. I haven't had my surgery yet and I made a wonderful surgery buddy on this site, she has been very helpful even though we are still in the pre op phase. I personally told my family and figured if they didn't approve then they could take a hike! This is my health and no one is going to foul it up with small minded negativity. I can however understand not wanting to deal with the extra burden of negative remarks, you can always tell them later but you can't un-tell them.
  16. Water bottle, slide on shoes, unflavored protein powder, chicken stock/broth, sugar free jello, a binder or folder to keep all of your surgery info in, baby spoons, Gas X, protein water - to sip or make Popsicles with. Make a vitamin & supplement schedule so you know what to take when - most people can not tolerate taking all at once and you must take iron and calcium a few hours apart for them to be effective. A pad of paper or journal to write your foods in - so if you try something and it doesn't work for you you have a record of it. I haven't had my surgery yet but from everything I have researched and asked about these things seem to be the most important in the first few weeks. I hope this helps
  17. I'm 1 week before you on the 12th. Best of luck to you!
  18. Best of luck. Keep us posted
  19. I've never met anyone who spells their name like I do. Welcome Brandie and Jason too
  20. Thank you so much. Very helpful
  21. I'm in a Facebook group and it seems very negative so far with lots of arguments. I think I'm going to just stay here where it's relatively positive and there is more real information and support.
  22. Best of luck to you. Please keep us posted
