Oh thank you Patty! That was really thoughtful! I haven't found out my surgery date yet, I emailed the office yesterday to see if they have received the October calender yet. I am getting excited! I know it will be in Oct. but I don't know the date. Thank you for the advice! It will for sure come in handy!! Good luck!! :thumbup:

April, You look like you have done great since your surgery. 11 lbs in about one week is AWESOME! I can't wait until Naomi gives me my surgery date. I have to call her back Friday (tomorrow). I will see you Saturday Jason!

Well, I tell you what...I have learned patience but I need to get them back! I guess since I have all girls and they are all hormonal - that doesn't help! LOL...thank you for the advice! I am getting excited ~ I want to start posting my weight loss!!

I first off wanted to tell you congrats! You were banded on my birthday! (it's a good day! lol) But I want to ask you a question concerning your kids. I am a mother of 5 girls and I am starting to get very short tempered with them. Their ages are 16, 11, 9, 5, & 4. How do you do it? I know lots of prayer, but more importantly how are your nerves? OH HOW NEAT! We just moved to Warrior from Center Point back in March. What abouts in Hayden do you live? I car pool with a girl from Hayden and we meet up at the park and ride right there off the exit. It just goes to show you who you will run into on here. Congrats to all of you! I am waiting on my surgery date. I have to wear my CPAP machine for 14 days straight before they will schedule me. I'm getting excited though, I only have 8 days left! Good luck guys!!

Let me tell you something...I have been open about me going for the lap band since I first went to the seminar last year. There are two ladies here that had gastic bypass and they didn't tell anyone until they started loosing weight. One of them told me that they regretted not letting anyone know ~ but the girls I work with are very supportive and nosey! They wanted to know what all I have had to do in order to prepare and to make sure that BCBS covered it. NOW ~ the two ladies I work with are working on their 6 month observation and they are going for lap band surgery too. It's like I started a trend~ But it comes down to a personal decision for you. If you feel comfortable, tell them - if you want to wait until you start loosing weight - then wait! It's all how you feel about it. Me personally, I don't mind sharing!

You know, I think that is what is going on with me. Since he found the hernia, I have done some research and all of the symptoms I have after eating fit. Thank you guys! I hope that they can repair mine when I go for surgery.

I did find out that I have a hernia (small one) but Dr. Bajaj said it was nothing to worry about. I didn't even think about it causing issues with me swallowing! That is great to know...then I can come off my reflux meds!

Ok ~ I can see that. I have those now! PB's that is. I can't eat certain foods or spices and I can't fully digest a great deal of food at one time (like a big meal) so eating small meals is nothing new to me. Thank you for you imput ~

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone out there had existing stomach issues before getting the lap band? I am kinda worried that what I experience now with my stomach might get worse after surgery. Also, can someone explain to me what a productive burp is? Thank you!!!

Hey girl! I had to have a psych eval because of the meds I was taking. I don't think BCBS makes you have one. I also called St. Vincent's East billing department to find out about up front fees. When I called BCBS this morning they said that since they do not know up front how much the surgery will cost, they can't make me pay a fee or co-pay yet. As soon as I hear from the hospital I will let you all know. :wink2:

I am with you sister!!!! I just want to be able to go into a clothing store and be able to pick out a cute outfit for work ya know? OR better yet, able to wear the cute little lacy bra and panty sets!!! WOO HOO!!!

That is wonderful to hear! That gives me hope that maybe if I can get a September/October surgery date that I will loose some before Christmas! That would be wonderful!

Hey there! I am also waiting on my surgery date. I go tomorrow for my EGD and then I have the support group meeting on (8/16) then my nutrition class! I'm getting excited! Good luck...let us know if Tricare approves you!

I have got to say that I have also come full circle. I started doing all of the BC/BS mumbo jumbo they make you do starting last August. I am going for my EGD Wednesday then I will receive my surgery date. I am getting excited now! I have been overweight since I was a kid and I have come to realize that being "obese" is a disease. Just keep in mind that you are doing this for yourself and your health.:thumbup:

Yes I have! I was approved back in March! I just don't understand why they haven't set a surgery date as of yet. I have done the psych eval, first visit with Dr. Miles, the seminar, 1st part of the sleep study, and all I have left is the lap band support group and then the class. Have they set you a date yet? Should I just call her??

Hi All! I apologize, but I can not remember who went to Dr. Miles down here. That is who I am going to see. I have gone through all of the "red" tape, BCBS has approved me and I still have not been given a surgery date. When did Naomi give you a date? I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems in that area. I am with you on the c-section thing. I have had 3 of them and if you are in pain, I bet I will be too!
