  1. A friend of mine "swings" regularly and is very happy with it. I KNOW it's not for me...but it works for her and her husband. Anyway, she told me she is involved with a yahoo group so you might search through there if you are really interested. In my mind, while your wife may be talking about it, it could just be to please you. I could see how I may have said/done about anything early in my marriage to please my husband whether they were healthy or not. Now there are definite limits! lol

Yay! Congrats on having your parents support. I've told my stepmom because she had first told me about a co-worker who had he surgery...and I know that, if my Dad were alive, he would support anything that would help me to live a healthier lifestyle. I actually think he would be proud of me for making the decision. It's all good!

You are doing so awesome!!! Is it getting any easier? ~~anne
  4. Here is a great one: “When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision. “ There are many more. If you are interested in reading some others: http://books.gaia.com/964/the_alchemist/by_paulo_coelho/quotes. Let the current carry you! ~~anne
  5. * * * I also ordered a glass of Water (not thinking) and when I got to the table...I was like...I can't even drink this....no biggie...new habits to be made people. And we can do it! That's what I think will be the hardest part...I love to drink water in a restaurant! ~~anne
  6. Are you exclusively breastfeeding? I've not been banded but know you shouldn't diet while breastfeeding. If the baby is receiving most of his/her nutrition in another way, I'm sure it's fine though. There is NO way I could stay on clear liquids that long! Good luck! ~~anne

Only 25 days until my new life! I had a huge MD's office scale and it did NOT fit in our small bathrooms. I prefer to weigh first thing in the morning in the buff, so I knew I needed to find a scale that "fit" our needs! I did some online research and ended up with a Weight Watcher's scale made by Conair. So far, I'm pleased. Each time I've weighed I have got on and off a few times and it ALWAYS weighs the same (down to the 1/10th of a pound). Yay! My job IS changing in some way and I'm not happy. More hours/same pay. Tuesday I have a meeting to discuss it. I hate to think about having to change jobs at this time in my life.

  9. Hey, Saundra, THANKS! I just finished watching week 1. Will they have week two up at some point? I've always relied on my TiVo to make sure I didn't miss it...but no one in my area had power! ~~anne
  10. I've got a new one (don't think it was mentioned)... ...to be able to give myself a pedicure!!!!!! ~~anne
  11. Have you found out yet??? ~~anne
  12. WOW--that is truly amazing! I wish my date could have come up that fast! Congratulations! ~~anne
  13. I will say, to anyone beginning the journey, to keep the following in mind. No matter what your insurance pays, be prepared to pay out of pocket. I wish they made it easier to KNOW what you will pay! I know I've met almost all my $500 deductible and that I have a 90/10 and then $2000 out of pocket...but they don't know how much the surgery will actually cost! They said it could be $14,000 to $17,000 but that there are insurance discounts off that before I pay. So, who knows? October 1st! Yay for you! That's the date I had been hoping for and couldn't get in as insurance didn't come through fast enough :rolleyes2:. It's almost October!!!!!
  14. Anyone have some good ones to share? Right now, I make corn and green Beans...that's it. I would especially love ideas for using frozen veggies as they seem to be the least expensive/fresh tasting. I bought some frozen edamame and then had no idea what to do with it! Same with sugar snap peas! HELP! Thanks in advance, Anne
  15. Hey KJHack...we are getting banded the same day and I live about 45 minutes from you! How cool! Brian--that is so cool that your friends are banded too! They will be great support for you! About the edema, your doctor is so right. I'm a hospice nurse...just saying. Time to take care of yourself! SaraJaneQ--I'm putting of my surgery too...a quick trip to Florida with my husband who will be a on a business trip. It made sense...otherwise my surgery would have been while he was gone (probably not good). ~~anne
  16. I tried the unflavored unjury today. It wasn't bad. I ate it with two cups of SF choc bliss pudding and that gave me 200 calories, 6g fiber, and 24g protein. I'm going to try the chicken soup unjury later. I'm excited! Less than a month!

  18. Hi-- My BMI is 41 and I'm ready to do this! I used phen/fen years ago and it worked for me...but nothing else has done much. South Beach was great but I got hungry so I didn't lose much. I have four kiddos--two boys in the Army--one is married and is expecting a little one in April/May! The oldest will be out of the Army next August and is hoping to go to Ball State University where his girlfriend of 3 1/2 years goes to school. My two girls are 15 and 17 and I homeschool the 17 year old (the younger one wanted to go back to school a couple of years ago and we let her). My husband and I have been married for 23 years and he plans to "eat like me". He probably can as he's a man . We'll see though. If not, I hope I can be a positive influence for him to get banded too. We also have an adorable monster puppy Jack (yellow lab who is HUGE), an old sheltie--Kelsey, and a fun cat I'm allergic to--Duncan. I love to read which is a problem as I'm so sedentary! Physically, I am fairly healthy (genetics). My BP and cholesterol are fine as well as my blood sugar. My problem is that I have rheumatoid arthritis (a reoccurrence from childhood) and a bad back that I had surgery on 10 years ago. I MUST lose weight! Nice to meet you! ~~anne
  19. Hi! I tried the unflavored unjury in some Jello SF choc bliss pudding and it didn't taste bad. I used two puddings and one package of the Unjury. I DID notice a smell when I opened the package but the chocolate covered it up I guess. Each pudding cup was 60 calories and had 3g of Fiber and 2g of Protein. So, total calories were 200, fiber 6g, protein 24g. So far, I'm pretty full and it's been about 2 hours. I'll try the chicken Soup later and let you know. ~~anne
  20. All that for me too! We have a tentative plan to go to Hawaii two summers from now for our 25th wedding anniversary...I would LOVE to be able to be more active for that! ~~anne
  21. I got them in the mail yesterday but haven't tried any yet. I will start trying them and let you know! ~~anne
  22. Oh, JWRN, let us know the consensus!

I agree...I'm lazy too! I'm "tired" of being lazy! lol Crockpot is great for workday dinners...and make good leftovers for lunch.
  24. Hi--I like to check out "new posts" and saw one from the twenties group for "skinny goals" and it made me think. Here is my partial list: 1. FEEL better (back, joints). 2. Comfortably ride in an airplane seat (I love to travel). 3. Better sex :rolleyes2:. 4. Shop in "normal" stores and get great clearance deals! 5. Be able to walk my dog without being winded. What's yours? ~~anne
