  1. Good luck ya'll. Just an FYI--citrus liquids (OJ) can increase nausea post-op. Try to avoid them. ~~anne
  2. Wishing everyone today and tomorrow the best on your surgery. I'm sorry if I've missed anyone--I've had a terrible head/chest cold which is great when you are recovering from surgery. I was supposed to start back to work last night but wasn't able to because of my cold. I also wanted to start with a trainer yesterday and couldn't. Today: Michele777; Rosie Sage October 29-knickerbocker; ~Bridgette~; SCTexasGirl; julie.ann; lauriel; dirigo; CMTurner; sunwyse; Altoonasoup; chrisfer1;wvgal33; gracie78; Tamisha; Road less traveled; debbie brooks; tomatogirl; vicbrad; mvane08; babe134; grateful1; Maggies; abbalv; debbietx I am reading the book written by the daughter of Muhammed Ali and it's really interesting if you like novels. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0061170941/][/ame] [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0061170941/]Amazon.com: Fighting Weight: How I Achieved...[/ame] Thanks for the bean soup idea. I didn't get to go to bookclub because of my cold though. Oh, I've been having stomach pain and just realized that it's hunger pains. Yesterday, I stopped and got a Starbucks Vivanno with protein powder and that really helped. Tomorrow, I start pureed foods! ~~anne
  3. Another question: I have book club tomorrow and am thinking about taking soup so I can eat it. Any suggestions? I'm not a soup person, in general, so I don't have any good recipes on hand. I am allowed full liquids only right now and we always bring something to share. Thanks, Anne
  4. Anything you are doing to combat itchiness? I know it's normal but it's driving me crazy! ~~anne
  5. I am itchy too...any suggestions? I have a bad habit of scratching until I bleed when I have bug bites...I definitely don't want to do that now! I was hungry today for the first time. I just sipped on something almost all day. I also added back in the SF pudding which helped me feel full. Eighteen pounds is awesome!
  6. The blood is normal. You just don't want to have BLEEDING where you would have to reinforce the bandage. If so, call your doctor. Thanks for checking in--sounds like you are doing great! ~~anne
  7. Yay! Today I am only severely obese instead of morbidly obese! I finally lost my "surgery" weight (aka GAS) and feel so much better. Basically, I spent last evening sipping hot tea while reading or watching tv (I did walk too) in my bedroom and told dh to STAY OUT! Fortunately, it was nice enough outside to have the windows open and I lit some candles! Such is life for us all I guess. My gas was so bad that my stomach was FIRM from the bloating and even the incisions were pulling and bleeding a bit. EEK. It was bad. On to happier days now...:mad2:

  9. I just figured out how to update the ticker...just double click on it (from your post) and it will take you to tickerfactory and you enter your pin and change it. That's all! ~~anne
  10. My incision ended up being about 2 inches below the underwire bra line. Maybe it depends how long your torso is? I am fairly "tall" at 5-7. My surgeon's office couldn't tell me what my cost would be either. They said the surgery ran between $14,000-$17,000 but that the 10% I paid wouldn't be actually 10% because it would be after their insurance discounts and then could only reach my out-of-pocket amount. I did have to pay a surgeon's upfront fee of $217. Hope this helps! ~~anne
  11. Prayers and good thoughts tomorrow and the next day for: Holly718 and vivien. Let me tell you, the gas is the worst part no matter what you do to try to prevent it. The other thing that I think I did wrong was to drink "normally" afterward. I couldn't understand why my chest hurt so much and then it hit me that I was probably drinking too much too fast. Today, I am SIPPING over a long period of time. Of course, it's more difficult to get in my calories that way on full liquids but still...I feel better. Hope this helps someone! ~~anne
  12. Today I had a one pound weight gain. Fortunately, I knew that I would have a gain right after surgery because of the fluids they pump in you and the swelling at the surgery site. I felt pretty miserable last night and took a narcotic tablet that we had leftover from some back pain awhile back. My doctor doesn't prescribe narcotics...just an NSAID and I'm already on some of those (Voltarin) for my rheumatoid arthritis. This morning, I took 1/2 tablet and feel a little better. I'm wondering how much weight I will have to lose to go down a size? I just bought (online) a shirt to wear for Thanksgiving that is in my current size (but tight right now). I hope it literally hangs on me! We'll see...

  15. Oh wow. It's hard to imagine that in 12 hours, I will be banded! I've lost 10 lbs pre-op and THINK I have everything I need ready to go. I'm still doing a little laundry and have to work 1/2 night tonight. The BIG thing I did today was get a pedicure/manicure. It was wonderful! Two hours of someone else pampering ME! I have still not told my teen daughters although they know I'm dieting and will be starting at the gym next week. What are the chances I can keep them in the dark? It's great to get on this site and see all the great success stories! Until the next time...

  17. Sandielaw--I'm so sorry! :grouphug: Good luck to all of us for tomorrow. I will be thinking of each of you: annecolorgreen; jogirl; fortunate1; lorilei; purplesloane; BootyBee; Little Bit; imamld3; morph521; kjhack; mcornejo1983 I've lost 10 lbs pre-op. ~~anne
  18. Hey Ronda--I'm saying extra prayers for you today because you are anxious. I'm sure that's normal. I'm a tad jittery today (tomorrow is my surgery) even though I had the OLD gallbladder surgery and did well with it! lol I've thought about the letter thing before and wondered if we shouldn't all do that periodically (with updates). My mother died when I was 13 and I wish I'd had something from her. Another reason I think so morbidly is because I work for hospice, so I deal with families and death all the time. Now, as an encouragement I hope, I have done lots of research on this surgery and feel like it is so much safer than carrying extra weight around. Your little boy will have a much better mommy who can run and play with him soon! Check in with us! ~~anne
  19. I'm so happy that everything went so well for you! Wishing you continued success! :tongue2: ~~anne (one more day!!!)
  20. Gracie78--I'm doing okay but I'm making sure I get lots of Protein and drink something all day. I know you can get through it! ~~anne
  21. I am taking centrum chewables but you can take two flinstones. Some of the OB doctors give those to their patients who can't tolerate the regular vitamins. 24. Lambgram--watermum is. I have a list posted under "October Bandsters" under this forum and then there is a sub-forum under "2008" then "October". Just scroll down through your forum choices and you'll find it. I'm sure there are others out there too! So, how much have you lost? I've lost about 8 lbs in just over four days--amazing. ~~anne
  25. Every doctor is different. My doctor was actually a little upset when I told him that I didn't have any questions at the last visit because I'd been online researching. I reassured him that I understood that each doctor requires different things and that I would follow his protocol. ~~anne
