Unknown Fill Amount
To me, it is not a big deal. As long as He knows, that is what is important. My knowing how big my band is, would serve no purpose, I am just not curious about it. He did tell me how much the fill was. Sometimes I think I am just too trusting, but that is my nature. I always know things will work out.

Unknown Fill Amount
I think you are right. I have full confidence in my Dr. so I will leave all of that to him.

Unknown Fill Amount
My Dr. told me how much he put in but would not tell me how much my band would hold. He just said it will never be completely full.

What makes a person PB?
Thanks you guys. I am pretty sure I did not wait long enough between bites. I will make sure I never do that again. Unless I forget and do not have my mind on eating, which is what happened then.

What makes a person PB?
Well, today was my intro to PB. I am just wondering if eating too fast, or too much causes this. I really don't think it was too much because I hadn't eaten much at all. I ate a small piece of baked chicken, and it was moist, and a small piece of meat loaf. I was eating out and alone and I think I just rushed it. Not a good feeling at all. I surely want to know what caused it, so I don't do it again. I appreciate your answers.

Taking medication with a lap band
I take 12 pills a day and have not had a problem. I did the the Calcium Citrate in the new smaller pill, but never have had to cut them. I have only had 1 fill, but I can tell it is there. I really think you will be ok for now. Maybe at a later date we might have to reduce the size but not now. Hopefully, some of these will be eliminated in time. I have also been able to cut my diabetes meds in half. Good Luck

hair loss anyone?
Are you counting your protein? My dr told me that most of the time this happens with the bypass.

eating after a fill
My dr put me on liquids for the day of the fill (today). Tomorrow I can eat regular food

Post Op pain med
I forgot that I also came home with a motion sickness patch behind my ear. I think it really worked too, because the anesthetic usually makes me really nauseous.

Post Op pain med
My dr gave me Percoset, but in pill form not liquid. Good luck with your surgery. I only took one pill after I got home. Only pain was gas.

HELP! AM I HUNGRY or do I have cold feet?
I have all the confidence in the world in my dr. But I do feel like he would rather have done the bypass. I am 63, my husband was against it mainly because on my very first visit, 3 years ago, he told me that my risk was greater because of my age. That cinched it for me. I got banded on 7/1/08. My husband was supporting me and I have felt great. I think the nurse was very rude to you. Hang in there, we are all behind you.

Older Candidate With Concerns
I am a baby boomer. I have only had my band since 7/1/08 but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am 63, absolutely no problems with the surgery, and I am going to get my first fill Monday, 7/28. I had catarac surgery on 7/16, no problems with that either. Going to get other eye done on 7/30. My band dr was all for it.

i gave in and weighed myself LOL..
I am all for this. Sunday will be the big day to weigh. I gave in and weighed today and I was disappointed, no loss in the last 2 weeks.Had my band 7/01/08. Reading and posting on here sure helps though. My first fill will be 7/28/08. My husband said I worry more about food than I used to, but I have to plan ahead now, and it is all so new. I have not let myself eat anything not healthy. Gave up all cold drinks. Now it is only water or tea. I don't miss it. Lets keep the Sunday date. Join us if you will.

Should I be losing more???
I think that is great! I am not doing that good. My banding was on 7/1/08. will be 4 weeks on Tuesday. I have lost 17 lbs. and that includes 5 pre op. I have been on 800 to 900 calories a day, and still stuck on 217. I was told not to expect to loose but about 1-2 lbs a week. But the first 15 came off quick, now nothing. I am trying to stay positive, but it is hard. I have been walking a mile about 3 or 4 times a week, I am going to pick it up to at least 5 or 6 times. Hang in there and I will be right with you.

Full Band
I posted this on another thread but it may have been the wrong one. Can someone tell me what happens when the band is filled to its limit? My last visit to my GP kind of confused me because he told me he heard that the band sometimes has to be replaced. Any ideas on this one? Thanks for all the info.

Help 3.5cc fill today now constant PB
Can anyone tell me what happens after a 10cc band is full? I didn't think to ask my Dr. that and now I am curious.

Spasms in the legs
I had my band on 7/1/08 and I can honestly say that after the first day I had almost NO pain. The only thing was gas but I walked and that went away. I see on here that a lot of the people have pain for a lot longer. I was on Byetta injections for diabetes, maybe that is why I felt so good so soon. The dr took me off it and I was in heaven. I am no longer on that and have cut my Januvia, also for diabetes, is cut in half. I fell so good, it is unbelieveable so soon! Good luck and don't be afraid. I am sure everyone second guesses their selves just before surgery. It is the best thing I have ever done. Lost 20lbs so far.

Spasms in the legs
I had a cramp in my calf this morning but I never associated it with the surgery. It's an idea though. I don't usually have these.

Anyone else lose ALL restiction after PBing? Slippage?
I have belonged to this board for a while and still don't know what PB means. Can someone tell me?

Support group
I have been banded since 7/01/08. I have a friend from Louisiana, where I live, that went to Houston to have her band last Monday. She tells me that her dr wants her to pay $200 to go to support meetings, and she would have to travel about 75 miles to go there. Evidently, she wasn't told this before the surgery. Does anyone else pay for their meetings? Do you think she could go with me to mine? Even if my dr would charge her she would at least be near home? As far as I know mine is free. Unless the cost is included in my bill to Insurance. The hospital where I had it has a meeting once a month and so does my dr. Thanks for any help.

Glued Incisions
My incisions were glued also, but my dr said that there was stitches on the inside that would disolve. The steri-strips stayed on mine for almost 2 weeks, so I just didn't worry about them. Yours was probably stitched on inside also, but I am not sure about the glue coming off too soon. I would call the dr too.

Still taking insulin???
I am with you on that. My dr.told me that I WOULD HAVE MORE chance of getting off the insulin and Byetta with the Bypass, but I didn't want to go that far. I was banded on 7/1/08, I am off the Byetta already which was what I really wanted. Those side effects were just too much. I have an appointment with a diabetes dr in Oct so my goal will be to be off by then.

Weight Watchers?
I just returned from the Dr.. He said it would be fine to go to WW. I probably would not be able to eat all the points. He said I should try to eat between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. I will have my first fill on the 28th., I think I will wait until after the fill to join.
-
Weight Watchers?
Do you mind if I ask how many points you do a day? Isn't 2 cups too much food to eat at once? I know I will learn all this, but for now it sure helps to have this board with everyone who has already gone through it.

Weight Watchers?
I am going for my 2 week post op appointment tomorrow, I think I will bring the subject up with my Dr. along with how many calories I should be eating. I find it hard to keep under 1000. jazie
