What do you wish you would have known more about before WLS?
I wish I had realized that if I had pain or needed an in office procedure or whatever that drs would not just rx me pain meds like I was led to believe. I had back pain and had two procedures requiring NSAIDS and was basically left to tough them both out because I could not take them and they felt that rx pain meds were not warranted even though I told them my medical history. I even had a doctor ask me to leave his practice after I was telling him I was concerned about future pain management. I think he thought I had an addiction but I was really just in pain and scared because they weren’t helping me.

Sleeve Veteran researching revision to SADI
Update. I just met with my PCP and it was a total waste of time in terms of getting my questions answered but it gave me more to think about. I mean I appreciate her honesty but she hadn’t even heard of the SADI procedure. She said in terms of whether I am fit for surgery or whether she thinks I am a candidate for bariatric surgery she can answer that and I am but in terms of which surgery is the best fit she would defer to the specialist. It kinda scares me a bit her not knowing much about it. Not that I can’t make a decision now without her just that what if I have a long term complication that’s surgery related and she doesn’t know it because she doesn’t known the surgery. I can just see me on a wild goose chase trying to get to an answer on something that someone familiar with the procedure would know about. I guess if I have a medical issue I can always ask her if it could be related to my surgery and she will search it online?? She said if I had any issues immediately post op we would call surgeon and ask if it could be related to surgery or if I should call my pcp but I don’t know if something happened say two years out whether she would realize if it was related to my altered anatomy.

So...it's happening!
I didn’t really deal with a ton of hormonal changes as far as I can recall but yes I have heard that many women do. I am an emotional eater too and not to scare you but I have gained my weight back and I’m contemplating a conversion. If you have access to a therapist to get to the bottom of the emotionally eating. I STRONGLY suggest it. There aren’t any in my area so I am working with my regular therapist but I don’t know how well it is working. One of my questions for the surgeon is if he can make some calls for me and find someone who will try to fit me into their schedule. As far as tool or equipment I had sleeve and didn’t need much. I bought those little cups that your dressing comes in at restaurants for the very beginning just to measure things out and store in fridge but you can use anything that is the right size. Some people do use a blender in the purée stage. Personally puréed food that isn’t normally purées kinda grossed me out so I didn’t use that. I did buy a few flavors of shakes and keep others ready in my online cart for my husband to pick up if I needed him to. I did buy a scale but honestly don’t recall using it much. One thing that someone told me that you didn’t ask about was what to pack for hospital. I found pajama pants, a sleep mask and a extra long phone charger to be helpful items that weren’t on the list. The pants come in handy when you get up to walk since the gowns are open on the back.

So...it's happening!
In my opinion this is the exact time to ask alot of questions. I was sleeved three years ago and I don’t think I asked enough questions beforehand or I may have made a differnt choice for myself in terms of which surgery. I am so excited for you and your surgery date. Congratulations.

Just me, myself, and I
Amazing Progress!! Looking forward to seeing that final pic.

Strongly struggling
Congratulations on your progress so far. Personally I would call the Dr and tell them you are struggling and ask them for suggestions or if you are ready to safely advance to the next step but If I remember correctly scrambled eggs is a couple steps ahead of liquids. I would certainly not skip any steps.

I've lost half of the weight towards my goal!!
Such amazing progress!!. I love how happy you look in your current photo. But the fact that you FEEL better is what is most incredible. I am so happy for you.

Modified Duodenal Switch
lol. You reminded me of the sugar free gummy bears I didn’t have an issue with them but I didn’t like them so I didn’t have but one maybe two. I sent them home with my friend who was living a couple of hours away so she ate the rest of the pack on her way home ? . She now buys those instead of bothering with fiber or laxatives when she is constipated she swears they work better. I am really hoping that my sleeve is still okay. That’s one of my questions for the surgeon is what happens if he goes in and it’s bigger than it should be. He is the one that don’t it and he is known As an excellent surgeon but For whatever reason I could eat more than I should’ve been able to at every given stage from day one when I was drinking without any issue. I also had very little pain post op so maybe I just advanced through the stages faster because of less swelling or something?? At first I questioned whether they even did the surgery but I definitely do haxe Restriction it’s just not as much as some peoples Anyways, I definitely need to save this post for future reference. In terms of all the dining out options and potential trigger foods this is such valuable information!!

Modified Duodenal Switch
Two questions. One I thought I read somewhere that caffeine was a no no post SADI?? Or was it just carbonation, maybe. After I gained it all back I started back on my Coke Zero and I have to kick that again pre op if sugar alcohol is bad. I gave it up for over two years so I can do it though. Second, , have you eaten out yet? If so, How are you with oils and stuff that they tend to sneak in even the “healthier options” I am a little worried I won’t be able to eat in public ever again.

That’s a really good way to look at it. Or that’s it’s an investment in what would have been future medical costs. I was thinking I would have to set alarms until I get into the swing of it. It’s good to know that they do fit in a little pill reminder too. Thank you so much for all of your time!!

Protein Shakes
I was going to suggest the protein waters as well. Or if it’s the flavors that you are not liking and you are allowed to have caffeine the caffe latte by premiere protein. It’s kinda like iced coffee if you like that. These two were my go To post sleeve. In fact I am three years post sleeve and I still have the cafe latte in the fridge for morning when I don’t have time to cook or I just wake up really hungry and don’t want to wait.

Wow that’s a lot of vitamins. I guess like anything else it just takes getting down a routine to remember all that. If you don’t mind me asking how much do you spend on all those vitamins?

Sleeve Veteran researching revision to SADI
Hello ChunkCat. I don’t do Facebook but thanks for the suggestion. I am actually thinking that if eating bad is what causes the side effects and eating good does not it may be just want I need to keep myself on track. I need to definitely meet with the dietician a couple times to learn about the simple vs complex carbs and other macro stuff. I only focused on calories and protein post sleeve and I’m sure that was half of my issue of why I gained it back. Do you have to take a lot of vitamins post SADI or is it just a multi and calcium like the sleeve.

Sadi is so lonely
One site says that the gas and more frequent/ loose bowel movements are a little less than the DS but definitely an issue with the SADI and the gas can be quite stinky as well which is probably the biggest fear I have right now aside from the real scary risks. I THINK the bathroom issues are just when you eat bad and if that’s the case that may actually help keep me on track because I obviously don’t want to have those issues. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my family PA and that’s definitely a question I will be asking her if she knows. I think the supplement question is more likely going to be one for the surgeon but I will ask her about that as well. I have until the end of next month when I meet with the surgeon to come up with a list of questions for him (whatever I can’t get answers for before then). Thanks again and please Let me know if you think of anything else I should ask. Until yesterday morning hadn’t even heard of this procedure. At least I have a list of questions to start with now.

Catwoman, you prompted me to make an appointment with my PCP. I figure she can answer some questions and I can figure out what she knows about the procedure before I god forbid have any issues. and Shanna NYC I am not super social media savvy but I did see pictures that I assume are along her journey. That’s amazing progress. I also think I found her podcast the skinny truth. Fingers crossed my journey will be similar to hers. I will be checking out her podcast as well. Thank you both for your suggestions.

Chronic Dehydration anyone?!
I didn’t realize how much water I drink naturally until post sleeve when I started counting glasses. I drink over a gallon a day myself. I always assumed it was because if medications that I am always thirsty. Did you start any other medications that cause thirst??

Sleeve Veteran researching revision to SADI
Thanks. I never thought about the PCP not knowing as much about it. My PCP is a PA and she is younger so there is a higher likelihood she has at least learned about it while in school but that’s definitely something to consider. I think I am due for blood work soon, I may just schedule to actually see her and see what she has to say about the procedure in general (it can’t hurt).

Sadi is so lonely
Yea. He said it’s definitely a more aggressive option than the bypass for revision with a few more risks but better weight loss for most people. I read somewhere that when you eat the wrong foods that it causes gas pain and bathroom issues which if that’s true I think as much as it would not be fun it may be just what I need to remind me to keep making the right choices. Also If I understood correctly it does more to reduce the hunger hormone which was definitely my biggest issue. From day one with the sleeve I was able to eat more than expected at every given stage. I just chose not to and that was easy while the hunger was gone but when it came back it came roaring back so I lost most of my weight and then gained it all back like a yo yo. In the beginning I was still eating all the right foods but I was starving so I ate more than I should have. I am really hoping that this procedure the hunger hormone remains less intense for good.

Sleeve Veteran researching revision to SADI
I had gastric sleeve 3/9/2021 and I lose quite a bit of weight but as soon as the hunger came back I started gaining and didn’t stop. I recently revisited the surgeon and he thinks I may be a good candidate for the SADI. I am trying to research but I am not finding alot if good information about anything except the scary statistics. am hoping to find someone who had this procedure or has at least heard of it.

Sadi is so lonely
Okay I am a second timer. I had gastric sleeve 3/9/21 and I gained it back. I am considering the SADI and I am looking for information about it. I have posted on the revision forums and the duodenal switch forum without response. Is this just a really rare procedure or am I posting in the wrong place? I worry that even if this is the right surgery for me I may regret it if I can’t find the support along the way because it is less common.

Food Before and After Photos
Has anyone looked into the lower calorie options in the factor75 meals. They are not cheap but they are prepared but they are fresh and they have vegan and keto options as well. I assume this would be an option to consider for those in maintenance for busy nights but I’m not the greatest at reading labels. I am currently looking into converting to SADi and just want to get started with something while I do my research and the insurance process (I was sleeved 3/9/21 and gained the weight back). I never did learn to understand all the macros and stuff the first time around which I’m sure contributed to my regain. I’m am just curious if anyone who understands all that has researched them and has any feedback about them.

Modified Duodenal Switch
Hello everyone. I think I finally found the forum I am looking for. Is the SADI S fhe same thing as the SADI?? I had gastric sleeve three years ago and was looking to convert to bypass but My dr told me today to start researching the SADI procedure.
