  1. I wouldn’t progress without my teams permission, personally. They know what to ask to make sure you are ready. The point of the staged return to normal eating is to protect your healing tummy. It’s hard to think of it cause all the evidence is on the inside but you just had major surgery and your tummy needs time to heal. I would call them and tell them you are having a difficult time and think you are ready to progress. They can tell you how to do it safely. No matter what I would try purées before I tried soft foods.
  2. Your husband should only have to take off the one day. And honestly my husband didn’t even do that. He dropped me off before work. Got to stay with me till they were wheeling me into the operating room cause I was an early surgery and then he came back to hospital after work to visit. I texted and dr called him to let him know everything went fine and he works less than ten minutes away but he had so much going on that he was trying to rearrange and I said reality is your just sitting there and I won’t even know you are with me. I was surrounded by plenty of people to take care of me. It wasn’t my first surgery either so I knew that I wouldn’t need him. I have anxiety so I was glad to have him there to keep me calm up until it was time though. But after that It seems like I just had my broth for lunch and got up a few times to walk and pee and took cat naps between and poof he was there already. That day went by so quick cause I slept so much. But you should be walking around well enough to go to the bathroom and grab a shake which is all you really need the next day barring any issues.
  3. I have never made eggplant but will have to give that a try.
  4. These were really good. Tried one without the pepperoni and it didn’t really taste like pizza. Could have easily subbed Turkey pepperoni though to cut calories. https://hungryhappens.net/easy-zucchini-pizza-stacks-4-ingredients-gluten-free/

If you do go back to caffeine just go slow with it and have it at home first. Some people have intolerances.
  6. Personally I would just listen to my team. Of course you want to get started asap but august is not that far away. You have waited this long you can wait a little longer. If you don’t listen to them and your approval gets cancelled you will have to pay out of pocket. Not worth it in my opinion.
  7. Those rules are not there just to help you lose weight they are to keep your healing tummy safe from injury. It’s not worth it if you ask me but of course it’s up to you.
  8. It was Latuda (that could be the scientific name).
  9. I have bipolar disorder and I’m on a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant. I did have to change one Med pre surgery because it requires that you take it with 350 calories to absorb properly which of course we can’t do right away post surgery. That’s a pretty uncommon situation though according to my pharmacist (it will say in the literature if a minimum calorie amount is required). The extended release medications seem to cause the most issues for people, if anything, post sleeve (some have no issues with those even). I haven’t had any issues with my medications. I am 16 months out.
  10. Good luck to you today. Update us when your feeling up to it.

My aunt gave me some truvia to try and mine didn’t dissolve very well?? I forgot to put it into the hot coffee BEFORE I put it over ice though so maybe that’s why. I need to ask her for more to try it that way. I have been using Splenda but I want to like truvia since it is a little better for me.

You can also mix coffee with a protein shake. Or a lot of people use the torani sugar free syrups.
  13. Well at 16 months out I can eat about one serving of most things comfortably. And if I eat that much of higher calorie foods I would gain pretty quickly. By the time you can eat a full serving size you really can’t rely on portion control as your only tool. You have to eat reasonably healthy foods as well most of the time.

I have mine with Splenda and milk. I like the vanilla almond milk. It tastes yummy, less calories and it has a much longer shelf life since all I use it for is coffee. If you wanted to use it for eggs and stuff too, the original flavor isn’t bad either. If you add the Splenda to the hot coffee before you put it over the ice it dissolves easier too.
  15. I’m sure it helped your your situation that the courses are spaced out a bit too cause your entire meal probably lasted at least a little longer than it usually does giving you some time to digest and make room for more. I know that about 30 minutes after I eat, I could eat again if I wanted to. I am over a year out now and I often feel hungry that soon but it’s got to be head hunger. It’s unfortunately not difficult to eat around the sleeve if you choose to.
  16. I have heard of people saying they were in ketosis and had a body odor. Could be that??
  17. Hello and congratulations on your surgery date. When you have a chance please update your profile to reflect your stats and surgery information. This will be helpful if have questions.
  18. Yea I was too I’m not sure what I was thinking. It’s been a while for me and I just wasn’t thinking I guess.
  19. Ooh I see now your on purée stage. Well still if thin oatmeal is too thick you may want to go back to thicker liquids for a day or two and then try it again.
  20. Did you skip roght over the cream of type soups. Those were my next thing after liquids. I don’t love them but was happy to have something more substantial and they went down well. Just be sure to follow the directions and mix it with milk or water so it’s thin.
  21. Congratulations on the loss and your surgery date. Just don’t be surprised if you don’t lose as much as others do on the pre op diet because you have already started to lose that initial water weight which is awesome. Anything you lose now just makes it that much easier later. Keep it up.
  22. I agree 100%. I didn’t have any issues with any food but some people have intolerances that cause bathroom emergencies that you would much rather have at home. Why risk it.
  23. I would personally trust your team but my instructions say if you have any trouble with a stage you can always go back to the previous phase so I say do it as you feel comfortable advancing to the next stage. You can go slower, just not faster through the stages. If I had to guess though you will be ready sooner than you think to advance to the next stage. Liquids and purées can get pretty boring.
  24. I seriously doubt they will say anything about your gain unless they specifically told you not to gain? Our weights fluctuate and they know that. My pre op diet wasn’t bad. I was allowed 2 shakes and then a lean protein low carb dinner (meat and veggies). Plus we had free foods like jello and pickles we could have if we just had to eat something. If I remember correctly we could chose between shakes and yogurt. And we were allowed to have broth. I didn’t love it but I wasn’t starving at all. Even if your is more strict because of your liver you just gotta keep your eye on the prize. I know I could do anything for a week or two in order to change my life for the better. And during that diet, if it gets a little touch check out the thread called “weirdest non scale victories” and see some of the changes you have to look forward to post surgery. Also, whenever you want to eat, hop on here and get talking. We are here to help you through it.
  25. Stalls happen to everyone. Sometimes they last just a week and sometimes they can last several. Some people even gain a couple pounds. Just stay the course. I know it’s hard but this process works if you stick to your plan. Just try to trust it. Stay off the scale for a week or two if it’s messing with your head too much.
