  1. Thanks Alicia521, I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you as well! It will be nice to talk to people who know exactly where I'm coming from with this wonderful band. My family and friends have been so supportive, but they still don't get it sometimes...they just can't...ya know? I think my goal for the Valentine's Day challenge is to lose twelve pounds, I'm planning on kicking up my exercise quite a bit so it should be do-able. (since I still have quite a bit to lose...) Have a great day everyone!
  2. Answer to question one: Yes!! Answer to question two: No!!
  3. LindaV-Thanks for the warm welcome. I am IN on the Valentine Challenge! I live in Houston, TX (I love it here!), and I was born in Enid, Oklahoma. Dr. Spivak did my surgery...he's fabulous! DrewsLou-I'm so sorry your feelings got hurt. Pre-weight loss my inclination would have been to let it go and just live with the hurt feelings, but now that I can't fall back on food to "fix" everything I'd have to say, as hard as it will be, I would tell her I hope she had a great birthday weekend but that my feelings were hurt. You definitely aren't overreacting. Again, I am so sorry your feelings got hurt and I hope it all gets worked out. Hopefully she will be honest with you...
  4. Hi everyone! I'm a May 2006 bandster, and I thought I would join in on the fun. How do I get in on the next challenge? I've enjoyed reading about everyone's NSV...congrats to you all! I used to get UTI's all of the time, and my doc suggested lite cranberry juice...I don't get them anymore-it really works! I SO get the whole hanging tummy problem, after three babies (last one was almost a 10 pounder) and a life long fight with weight it ain't pretty. :/ Thank goodness for plastic surgery!!(I'm hoping insurance might help pay for it...) Here's to a great 2007!!!! Keep it up everyone!
  5. Ok, I can go to bed feeling better now. The irony of all of this is I got online to see what other female bandsters do when the are PMS'ing and feeling really snacky...boy did I pick the WRONG place to destress! Have a great night everyone. Happy New Year!
  6. Can't anyone in here think of anything ELSE that Clinton might have done wrong???? (other than the sexual encounters with Monica?) It blows my mind that people can look at his run in office, and ALL they can come up with was he was inappropriate sexually a few times?????? Talk about turning a blind eye...
  7. Everyone's posts are so helpful...thanks! We have a virus going around and I have been totally stressing about getting it with the "band"...but it sounds like you should just call your doc and get some anti-nausea meds and stay on liquids for a few days. Not a whole lot of fun, but manageable...:phanvan
  8. Thanks for that info Cam...I found it really helpful. I haven't had to get an "unfill" yet, but your advice is something I will keep in mind at my next fill! Merry Christmas everyone...
  9. Such a huge accomplishment....GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!
  10. All of the replies have been great! Something else to consider is the material your pants and shirts are made of... I wear pants with spandex so it took significant weight loss before I needed another size.
  11. Dean Koontz The Husband AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Hello! Welcome to all of the newbies. I had my surgery May 3rd of this year and have done really well. I have a six year old daughter, a three year old son and a one year old son. I had very little pain. I think I took two doses of pain meds, but not really out of necessity just because I was worried I might not be able to sleep. I was lucky in that I didn't have "gas" pain. I hear that can be quite uncomfortable. From what I have read it could be due to the fact that I am always up and walking around keeping up with the little ones, because one of the "fixes" for the gas pain is walking around. Anyway, keep your chin up and dive in! You can do it! I have lost 32 pounds so far, and I have more energy! It is so worth it. Try to arrange for some help with your children, or at the very least have some new dvd's and crafts available for when you get home from the hospital. Be sure to read posts that give advice on what to have handy post surgery and what to do to help with any pain you might have. Well, this ended up being a little longer than I expected. :nervous Hope this helps. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! :clap2:
  13. That is amazing! Good for you. :biggrin1: Keep it up, and remember....................small bites!
  14. So glad all looks ok blue hill! Here's to smaller bites being the answer, it can't get much easier than that. Just to be safe are you checking your blood sugar levels? Take care!
  15. I am very curious to hear what you doc said! Hope all is well now...
  16. MMMMMM....yep, I'm gonna try it!
  17. So sad...I will remember them in my prayers.
  18. I can't wait to try this...thanks for sharing!
  19. Congrats Giveyouthemoon! I am so proud of you! I read every word, and I'm still pondering some of your statements...this post will stay with me. Take care!
  20. Hi Wheetsin! I noticed you are taking an omega vitamin...how do you take the fishy taste? Have you found a food that disguises it, or are you just amazingly brave? :girl_hug:
  21. Thanks 3loves...yes...I guess I'm not a goofball after all. Have a great night everybody! :typing:
  22. I'm sending prayers out to everyone who has been banded and to all of the soon-to-be bandsters!!!! I'm doing great. I was banded May 3rd and I'm feeling completely back to normal, well except for my appetite...let's hope that stays exactly like it is. I can't figure out how to do a ticker...I'm such a goofball. :/ I went to the Ticker Factory site and made the ticker...I copied it...now I can't figure out where to paste it???? Help somebody! :success1:
  23. What a great idea PlunderBunny! Thanks so much...it was just want I needed this afternoon. I had surgery on May 3rd, I am down 20 pounds and feeling incredible. The pain in my knees is already quite a bit better, and I am down a size in pants....I know the weight loss will slow, but that is ok...I feel so much hope for the future!!!!! With the band I CAN DO THIS!
  24. Wiggy Giggy-Yes, I'm thrilled. I'm a little more sore today, but nothing unmanageable. I'm so excited!!! I got the Gas-X strips at our Super Walmart they had peppermint and cinnamon. They aren't the greatest tasting things, but I've heard they give the fastest relief. I'm happy with them. Take care. Tax Girl - What planet is your friend from? Since when is SURGERY the easy way out? Since when is changing the way you eat drastically with no option to change it other than surgery to reverse it the easy way out? Girl you better not listen to any of that silliness! Take care. Kelli
  25. Hi Jennifer! My name is Kelli, and I live in Houston. I am married with 3 wonderful kids. (Elizabeth-6, Joel-3 and Luke-1) I just got banded today, and I'm so excited. :clap2: I went to the informational seminar that my doc offered and after hearing all of the info on both procedures decided that the band was much safer. It is truly an individual decision. I didn't do very well with the pre-op diet. I did my best, but didn't end up losing any weight. The surgery went fine, and today is the first day of really having to follow the diet...no if's and's or but's! It's all going fine. So, just don't stress yourself. Do the best you can with your pre-op diet, and best of luck with getting a date on your surgery! Keep in touch! Kelli
