My fellow DFW area bandsters, Mikey and his wife JanetC, went into hiding and read two books this weekend and it made me wonder, what is everyone reading right now?

I did the two book weekend a couple of weeks ago with Dan Brown's Angels and Demons and The DiVinci Code. Except that I couldn't get interested in The DiVinci Code and put it down.

I'm currently reading a nonfiction by David Starkey about Henry VIII called Six Wives, The Queens of Henry VIII - catchy title, huh? I'm enjoying it, particularly when I'm having a hard time falling asleep. Naturally, it's taking a long time to read - ever since I put down The DiVinci Code in fact!

So, what book are you reading right now?

I just finished Johanna's Daughters by Marianne Fredriksson, and picked up a copy of How to kill your husband (and other handy household hints) by Kathy Lette. It looks like a fun read.

i just finished the da vinci code this past wknd. i really liked it. i am now starting an old robin cooke book "toxins". i try to get all my books 2nd hand, so sometimes they are quite new, sometimes quite old !!

No time, too many essays/assignments due and exams to study for.

1) There is no place like Hope: A guide to beating cancer in mind size bites (By Vicki Gerard) This book is a phenominal read for any one who is dealing with cancer either as a patient or a family member. It has made a very scary time in our lives a bit more understandable and at times even added some humor to some not so funny moments.

2) The sucess habits of weight-loss surgery patients (by Colleen Cook) Can I just say good book! Great stories, great information.

Both of these two books were easy to read and most chapters are short but tons of great information.

3) The DaVinci Code, the first few chapters were LLLLOOONNNGGG and hard to get into but once you get going it was an interesting read.

And...to be honest I have a HUGE stack of books on my side of the bed. Hubby says I have an issue

I'm preparing to write a Ph.D. dissertation so all my reading is research and sooooooooooooo boring. I can't wait until I have the time to read at my leisure again.

I just finished Predator by Patricia Cornwell. It's from a series of books about a forensic pathologist called Dr.Kay Scarpetta who deals with some very grisly murders and murderers!

humm...I read Da Vinci Code a year or 2 ago and I remember it being a quick read I think I read it over the span of 1 day while I was on vacation. I read all his other books as well and enjoyed them. (even though the base line of all his stories is the same...one man, one woman, both specialist in their areas who compliment each others knowledge, an evil organization, something of value....etc...)

Currently, I'm reading the first Harry Potter book, I never did read any of them, even though I saw the movies, so I figured what the heck, I went out and bougth them all, and I decided to read them.

I also recently re-read the narnia books after the movie came out.

Patricia Cornwall, I have a book by her that I bought but haven't read, I'll have to see the title to see if its the same.....

Just finished Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire after finishing Wicked- the life and times if the wicked witch of the west. Sure gives a different perspective on the Wizard of Oz!!!:nervous

I'm reading Seraphim by Michele Hauf. It's kind of a Joan D'Arc sort of tale. A friend just finished it and suggested I read it.

I have SOO many books that I need to get serious about reading, but since the advent of the computer in my life, my reading has gone by the wayside. I'm working on getting back into it.

I'm reading (listening too really on my Ipod) The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It's really good!

I've listened to The DiVinci Code and Angels and Demons also on my Ipod. I travel a lot so I get my reading caught up the many hours on the road when I can't actualliy read but listen. I use a service called Audible.com to download books.

I've got the Predator by Patricia Cornwall and I'm going to listen to it and At Risk next.

Im a Potter fanatic! I am re-reading the books looking for clues for book seven, which is rumored to come out next summer.

Anyone else a Potter nut?

My Friend Leonard by James Frey. It's a good read. I read his first book A Million Little Pieces as well. Even with all the debate whether he lied, they are both worth reading.

I read mostly non-fiction. Right now I am reading a biography of William Randolph Hearst, the publishing tycoon.
