Wow. Congratulations. I think that in itself would have been discouraging for me so you get lots of credit for such determination.

You guys are so lucky not to be in pain after surgery! They had found a hiatal hernia and fixed that during my sleeve. It’s been the worst pain in the world. Day 2 now and finally a tiny bit better, but cannot swallow anything at all, not even Water without insane pain. Glad your surgeries went well!!

How is everyone doing this morning? I had my sleeve surgery on Monday. Thought I would give an update this morning. First is I can only sleep about 6.5 hours in the bed. (6.5 hours is heaven for me) It just becomes uncomfortable but with little pain. I have been fortunate to not need any pain medicine at all. I have walked every time I even thought I felt a pain possibly coming on so everything you read about walking is so true. I have not been hungry at all. Not even a little bit. Yesterday, I was able to get in 45 grams of Protein and 48 ounces of liquid and it was a struggle. Later last night around 9pm, I had chicken broth (not much protein) but it was different than "protein" shake so it tasted delicious to me. I am sharing my story because so many others before me shared theirs and it helped me have the courage to go through with the surgery. For the second morning in a row, I have started this day with Gatorade 2. It seems like a good base before diving into protein and liquid (even though it is a liquid). No medical reason so maybe its just better to say, I like the soothing taste in the morning, Best advice so far is follow exactly what your dr/dietician gave you as your plan. 2nd best advice is baby yourself because how the house looks or what you look like doesn't matter. This was major surgery so treat it as such. Yesterday, I reported a major face rash which did begin to go down my arms. The dr isn't 100% sure but I either am allergic to the antibiotic they gave me while in the hospital OR it could be the one shot they gave me as blood thinner. Either way, the steroids the dr called in yesterday have already cleared it up. Again, an example of how important it is to communicate with your dr with any questions. Wishing you all a great happy healing day! How is everyone else doing from this weeks surgery?

I juuuust squeaked into March. I got approved yesterday for the 31st. I had to lose 10% of by total weight before my insurance would approve so I've been doing the weight loss program since July of last year. I am READY!

    Hi all
Started this process with a consult in October 2020. Just got cleared with GBP surgery scheduled March 26 - I was so happy to get scheduled so quickly after clearance. but still scared as hell, not for the surgery but the 6-12 month post op adjustment. So glad for this site. Reading as much as I can on the web to feel as prepared as possible.

Is anyone else feeling exhausted - I am guessing it’s just the pre-op diet.

Hey Jennie4315- I'm on day 12 of my 14 day pre-op liquid diet. I probably overdid it with shopping before hand, but I know myself enough to know I would get bored & it's good to have choices!
Who knows what our tastebuds will like after surgery, but here are the things that have worked for me pre-op. (My program includes 2 Protein Shakes a day, unlimited Clear Liquids including sugar-free/decaf things like herbal tea and gatorade zero, and popsicles.
Things I bought and have enjoyed:
Simply Asia Soy Ginger chicken broth Miso paste to make miso broth All the Better than bouillon flavors esp. the sautéed onion & veggie ones. These are concentrates you add Water to, and they have more depth of flavor to me than the boxed broths. I like that you can easily make them stronger or weaker by adjusting how much you add. Ginger lemon tea, Mint Tea, Lavender Mint tea Isopure infusions Tropical Punch (mix it up and let it sit a bit to get rid of the froth) Lemonade Crystal light (good mixed into the tropical punch for a change of pace) Protein20 infused water Harvest Grape (also tried the mixed berry but didn't like it as well) Gatorade Zero Isopure Zero Carb Protein (unflavored) Have added it to broth & smoothies with good results Pre-Made shakes Premier Protein chocolate (really good added to Decaf iced coffee which helps thin it out) Levels Pure Chocolate Protein Powder (I like that it has minimal ingredients, (5?) all recognizable and is less sweet than others) sugar free popsicles just having something to sort of chew is fantastic! Decaf Starbucks Via instant coffee packets- to add to chocolate shakes for a change of pace. Really yummy with ice & blended, sort of like a mocha milkshake. Insulated Blender Bottle (got mine on Amazon) works great for mixing up things like the tropical punch and then I let it sit in the fridge to settle down and it stays cold for a long time once I drink it. Things I bought that didn't work for me:
Fairlife Chocolate pre-made shakes (weird aftertaste to me, but I like the consistency- not sure if it's a bad batch?) Chicken Bone Broths (tried Pacific foods, Swanson, Kirkland) Not my favorite, I have to add things to them to get them down. Jello cups. They are good, but haven't satisfied the "ooh I feel like I'm actually eating something" wish.
Hope this helps a bit, you've got this! Good luck with your liquids & surgery.

I staryed in September, and am scheduled for surgery 3/25/2021 I just got my insurance approval in the mail so we are full steam ahead 11 days to go. I totally feel what you are feeling, scared and nervously awaiting surgery.
I was feeling very tired but I started walking and that has helped. I have lost 13lbs in the last 2 weeks. I have set myself a personal goal of losing 15 more lbs while on the preop diet.
I am not on a full liquid diet so i dont think i will.loose as much as those on the full liquid diet. Which makes me anxious.

Thank you, even though I was a lot heavier, for some reason I never had a problem with my calf's. I always had skinnier legs, I was very top heavy.

Ahhhhh, the classic jean jacket. A timeless staple for every wardrobe! These are my two favorites purchased after WLS. Great for concealing saggy arms, too. You must model for us your new consignment finds, plus that perfect little jean jacket when you find it! Fun. I just love ms.sss's jacket, too. It would look splendid with her gauzy pieces before summers end. I'm currently on the look out for a white jean jacket to replace former size 2X one. ;]
