It’s been 10 years .... I am healthier now and got more energy to spend with my children! With 5 kids ages from 28 to 9 is very exhausting but rewarding! Losing all the weight made me live longer for them. This is the best decision I have ever made in my life! To all of you who are in this journey.... congratulations! You are doing great!

4 yrs later, I feel great. My start weight was *243, went down to 137 which fluctuates about 5 to 10lbs at most.

This is about where I am starting with my surgery weight. My surgery is 3/25/2021. Can I ask how long it took to get where you are now ? I am so excited for this change but I am also extremly anxious and really want to set realistic expectations. I see some people down 70+lbs in just under 4 weeks and other under 12 weeks. I feel like I have so far to go to hit my goal weight of 170lb. I am currently on the preop diet at 350lb and hoping to drop down to 345 before the surgery. But after getting some great advice on thia forum I am trying not to stress and let the surgery do its job. Any advice or guidance from your experience would be a greatly appreciated 💞

I had my Gastric Bypass surgery in August 2019, surgery was a breeze but have suffered with sickness and nausea for the last year but due to Covid haven’t been able to see my surgeon. Was prescribed Odensetron which helps somewhat. But regardless of the sickness and not being able to keep foods down I do not regret having it done at all. Have lost over 140lbs . Thank you! I’ll be the test run (haha). I’m sure everything will go fine for both of us. I thought I’d be freaking out and perhaps backing out, but I’m surprisingly calm. Ready for it to be over!

Ok. Dream wardrobe. I think I’d buy every one of your outfits. My main goal is to just feel better in 6-12 months. But wearing such stylish clothes again is very appealing too!

Oh thanks for the idea. I will try the Greek yogurt with ranch as a dip. I am getting sick of hummus, and cottage cheese.

Jealousy is one word to describe your friends’ reactions. But they are likely also uneducated.
i was not going to tell anyone pre-op except my parents and only cuz they are going to be helping care for my daughter ( and me) post op. But I ended up telling a friend because we got into the topic of how discouraging weight loss has been for so long- she is probably in the low 200’s vs me who went from 245 to 300 in 5 years. Her initial reaction was as I had feared. Too drastic, not always successful, dangerous, and it’s just “calories in, calories out “...exactly my feelings too just 6 months ago. But explaining the reset you get with wls and biochemical change that happens, she appreciated both that I had done my research and that maybe she didn’t fully understand wls- and I am doing what is best for me even if she still doesn’t agree.
For sure your friends feel they are losing a comrade- I know I have felt that divide when a friend has lost weight and I felt left behind cuz I couldn’t hike, ride bikes, go to the beach like she was doing. And don’t get me started about her dating life.
Maybe having a heart to heart to air out your feelings and the medical basis for why this is not a decision for vanity’s sake, they will reassess their behavior and try to be supportive.
if not, they will probably be too toxic to be with while you are doing probably the best thing for yourself...I find therapists invaluable when I feel I can’t talk to friends.
good luck and hope you find support from them or others. But find that support wherever you can.

I have had two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and my husband has had two doses of the Moderna vaccine. We both had a sore arm after the first dose. After the second dose I felt a bit under the weather the next day, for about 6 hours, then nothing. My husband was a bit tired the next day but otherwise was fine.

I would do it again in a heartbeat! I know a very young covid long-hauler who has permanent organ damage from Covid and isn’t sure if she will ever be the same again. I am so excited that both my husband and I are two weeks second dose so we are at maximum effectiveness. When it is available for young children I’ll be happy to get my kids vaccinated too.

Pilot my best self reacted to Creekimp13 in Sleeve Maintenance Weight - Macros?
Nope. I do 1400-1600 calories a day to maintain. I eat tons of complex carbs, but avoid overly refined sugars and white flour. I get 50-60g of protien a day and 25g of Fiber. I eat fruit, Beans, potatoes, nuts, veggies, healthnut bread, whole grain english muffins, and of course...protien, but I try to get at least half from plant sources.
Basically, I just stay within my calorie goal and I do great. I love the flexability of an occasional treat if the rest of my day is balanced.
I eat pretty much anything I want. In moderation and balance with the rest of the day. Maintenance has been incredibly nice. No major weight fluctuations in over two years. Few pounds up and down here and there. If I go more than five pounds up, I see the bariatric therapist and it does the trick....helps me get refocused pronto. Getting much better at identifying my eating triggers and the triggers that cause me to self sabotage. Therapy has been an incredibly useful tool:) Very glad to have extreme diets behind me.
