between meals hunger
You may want to call and check in with your surgeon. Mine read 2oz 3x a day and I was STARVING. Like my stomach was rumbling so bad that you could hear it across the room. My surgeons office said that the booklet was more aimed at gastric bypass patients and the lb patients could either have a snack or eat a bit more. So, if you are starving, give a call....it can't hurt.

Confused and in CHINA!
My personal opinion is that you shouldn't get the band if you do not have easy access to safe, aftercare. The band is not a place and go device, fills are needed regularly for the band to work and things *can* go wrong. Do you have a plan for the what if's? Just my opinion of course :-)

denied by tricare...lost all hop
Tricare is usually VERY easy to get approved by IF you meet the requirements. TRICARE only covers morbid obesity surgery such as gastric bypass, gastric stapling, adjustable gastric banding and gastroplasty when the beneficiary meets one of the following conditions: Is 100 pounds over ideal weight for height and bone structure and has one of these associated conditions: diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cholecystitis, narcolepsy, Pickwickian syndrome, hypothalamic disorders or severe arthritis of the weight-bearing joints Is 200 percent or more over ideal weight for height and bone structure Has had intestinal bypass or other surgery for obesity and because of complications, requires another surgery As for the conditions, they must not only be noted but my surgeon told me you also had to be treated for them. Not 100% sure on that part.

started eating solid foods... have a question
The main issue is washing food through the band and either being able to eat more than you should or not staying full as long as you could. Therefore hindering weight loss...I'm sure you will be fine, just start over :-).

Broken tooth, help with straws
I hope you are pain free soon! My doc thought I was nuts asking about straw use...he's never recommended against it.

Yucky Protein/Carb Blocker Drink...HELP!!!
I'd call your surgeon and ask. I do think it is interesting though, since the EAS AdvantEdge CarbControl are the only protein shakes I can stomach.

Drinking from a straw...
I asked my doc about this after reading no straw use on here. I was really annoyed because I hate not using a straw. He personally didn't care, so I use one all the time and no issues.

Birth Control.
I just want to remind everyone, to remember that no bc is 100% effective (I know we all know that but :-). My SIL got pregnant on the pill and I have had 2 friends get pregnant with an IUD. One had twins...oy!

Poll: Time off between surgery and work
I had surgery on 7/25 (Fri) and went back to work 8/4 (Mon). it ended up being 9 days but that is because I only work M-Th. I could have gone back by 4-5 days post-op. My job is 75% desk and 25% running around the building taking stairs, etc.

What kind of razor do you use?
I use Magic Shave powder on my girly bits and it works fab. Otherwise, I use the Schick Quattro or my dh's Mach 3.

Military Mom has a question...
In my experience, I have never seen an active duty person get any sort of WLS because then it *may* affect your deployability but, he'd have to ask his PCM.

Birth Control.
I use Yaz, but not for the bc part. I use it to control my PCOS haywire cycles. It is the third type I have used and my fav by far.

Going to six flags...Question
I'd really be careful, I tore scar tissue in my tummy near my port, turning over in bed at 3 weeks post-op.
-
Snack Time
My drinking is 30 before and 30 after, even for snacks. I am allowed 1-2 snacks a day. Going to long between meals, slows down metabolism.

I dont know where to pst this ...ive had my period for 3 weeks
My doc says it may very well be the weight loss. She wants to run some tests if I am still having issues in 2 weeks when I go back.

The unflavored was disgusting to me...the vanilla is good.

How many bandings has your doctor done?
While my surgeon has done MANY, any surgeon that is realize or AP (lap band brands) certified, has to go through lots of training.
-
help !!!!!!!!!!!!
My guess would be your water intake is not high enough or your fat intake is too low.
-
How often do you weigh?
I was only weighing at the doctors but one of my coworkers gave me a brand new scale when they asked how much I have lost since I look great and I couldn't tell them. So, I weigh now every Monday morning after going to the bathroom and before my shower.

Urban Myth or Truth???
I two cards, one that states I have had lapband and I can't have an ng tube etc and then another that is for restaurants. I haven't used it yet though.

Shh.. Can you keep a secret??
You have to make that decision based on your situtation. I told several people that I work with. I work at a church, so they are constantly praying for you and honestly concerned about your well being. That is support I need(ed).
