hello all sorry i havent been on in so long things have been crazy! I went for my sleep study but I dont have apnea:frown:. However I did go for an MRI and it showed mild degenerative changes in my lower back as well as slight arthritis....im not sure if this is gonna be good enough for tricare but im not giving up my band drs assistant is sending me all the paper work that they have cause aparently I have to file the appeal...whatever thats fine with me I would rather have it in my hands I hate having to depend on others! anyway if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it!:smile2:

kita, are you saying that you didnt have any "present" co mobilities? I just got denied by tricare cause I didnt have any but I do have a strong family history of heart disease, diabetes high blood presure and many other things...i would love to hear exactly how it went for you. Raeshelle, I have tricare standard as well are you saying that they denied you or that they said that you didnt have to get approval for the surgery and could just have it done and they would pay for it?

Thanks so much for all the support. Im not going to give uphope I was just really bummed well I still am, but I called and made a apt with my dr for monday to talk about getting an MRI. I also have an apt to have a sleep study done. Im notsure if tricare will approve me with sleep apnea or if I have to have narcolepsy. If anyone knows I would love an answer. :crying:I just found out that I have been denied by tricare i meet the hundred pounds over weight requirment however I dont have any co mobilities or whatever the heck they are. Although I am 10% disabled from the army for my back, but they never found anything when they did mri's or x rays. Maybe its artritis maybe not but unless it is I cant get the band. My band dr is now sending me for a sleep study maybe that will turn up something but the way my luck goes it will probably come back normal. I am so upset apparently being fat as heck doesnt validate surgey.I have to have diabeties or heart problems, i wonder if they remember that being fat causes diabeties and heart problems! hii would just like to say that i am very impressed with your progress. I hope to achieve the same sucess once I am banded. I am currently awaiting tricare approval. I posted a message a few weeks ago talking about how I wasn't sure if I was getting the right surgery(I keep wondering if I should have applyed for gastric bypass). Only one person responded and she was very negative saying she had the same delima and ended up getting the lap band and was very unhappy. I just know that with a five year old and a one year old at my feet all the time the bypass would be to hard of a recovery for me. I really want to lose the weight. Im 5 2 and 216 pds. I would love to see the kind on results that you have seen I would love any advice you could give me. Thank you for keeping my hope alive. Gotta go my baby needs me.:party:

i finally completed all of my tricare pre approval apts so now im just waiting for tricare to approve the surgery. i want to lose weight fast but am scared of the gastric and had my mind set on the band (mainly cause i have two small children and i go to school at night) but everyone around me keeps asking why not Gastric bypass. now im feeling unsure. anyone have any advice or support? thanks:sad_smile:
