  1. I've ordered soup, beans, veg & cheese omelets, baked fish (if you're allowed), baked sweet potato...to name a few.
  2. I have 10cc of Fluid in a 9cc band (Realize Band). Before I got my band, I went to a seminar presented by a Realize Band rep, and he said there was room in the band for overfill. Also, I talked to my doctor and some other people about band fills, and I've been assured that there's room in the tubing for additional fluid, and the 9cc amount is not an absolute cut-off. I also know someone who has had an overfill for two years in a Lap Band, and she still has good restriction, so I feel pretty confident that I'll be fine. I'm sure proper fill amounts are debatable, but it is what it is. In a quirk of my anatomy, I must be small on the inside, lol. Go figure. Now if I can just get my outside to match my inside, all will be good.
  3. I really don't think there's a whole lot you can do except wait it out. I started losing my hair at around six weeks, and it stopped falling out at about four months. It was basically overnight when it started and when it stopped. I had the same thing happen after childbirth and two other surgeries. If I were to guess, I think it's hormonal and not unique to WLS. At least it wasn't for me.
  4. Pre-surgery jitters are very normal. Just take one day at a time. Be sure you're stocked up on a variety of liquids to get you through the first few days. I also started using adult strength liquid Tylenol after day two, so if you haven't yet, you might want to pick up some this weekend. But, most importantly, just plan to get plenty of rest the first few days home. Welcome to LBT, and good luck with your surgery. Check back in when you're home and feel like getting back on the computer. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask either on the board, or send me a PM, and I'll try to help.
  5. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/before-after-lap-band-surgery-pictures-only-4642/ Here you go. It really is an inspirational thread. I have it bookmarked. You can go up to Thread Tools to subscribe to it, or you can post on it, and it will be in your subscribed threads.
  6. Yeah, I definitely understand how you feel about wanting to maintain good restriction, jk. Hopefully, your band will settle down in the next few days between going on liquids and then you proceeding to eat slower and chew more thoroughly. You guys are smart to look to fix these problems right away, rather than suffering for weeks. Good luck, and I hope this does the trick.
  7. That's great, coingirl. I hope the small unfill will be all you need. Did you decide what you're going to do, jkend? I've read people say just a tiny .1 or .2 is enough to make a difference.
  8. I'm so sorry that you're having such a problem with your port. I really hope you're able to get it resolved once they see what's going on with it next week. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
  9. Does he live on Drury Lane? (If so, I ate him...yum...he's band friendly) (:winner:)
  10. There could be any number of reasons he's against the surgery. A few: 1. He's concerned for your health and safety because he's afraid of you having surgery. 2. He's worried that you'll get thin and leave him. Sad as it is to say, there are some people, both men and women, who feel in control of a relationship, and want to keep it that way. when their partner places a lower value on themselves. 3. He likes your life together now, and he doesn't want to change things. For instance, if a lot of your activities center around food (dinners out, cooking together, eating junk food, etc), he knows that will have to change. (Although you will only have to make adjustments. You'll still be able to eat out and, of course, cook in, but you'll be making healthy food choices for the most part). If you guys are kind of sedentary, once you lose weight, you may want to try out new activities that you're not comfortable doing now. Exercise, hopefully, will become an important part of your life, if it isn't already. 4. Some people are just plain resistant to change, even if it's for the better.
  11. My cc situation is up for debate, lol. By my calculations, I'm over-filled, but by my doctor's, based on what they've pulled out, I have 8.4 cc. Measuring by what they've put in, I'm at around 10 cc in a 9 cc band.
  12. ...then in sneaks kiz, wrestles the tropy away, and makes a quick escape. See ya, sucka's!! :tt2: :laugh::cool2: (obviously, kiz has too much time on her hands - LOL)
  13. I have very good restriction, and I had Wendy's chili just after my last fill when I was on mushies. I could still eat it easily. I've been banded for awhile (six months), so I'm used to taking things slow, so I certainly didn't eat it in five minutes, but it went down very easily.
  14. Until I started reading the info on this forum, I had no idea fake nails carried so many germs. I'm like you, slim-n-tn, I can't believe she was allowed to touch the babies in the NICU wearing them. If nothing else, I would have thought gloves would be required until the nails were removed. I can't imagine the cold germs and other viruses that the preemies will face IF they're allowed to go home with Nadya just from the other six children alone. Yup, that explains it. It was the hormones talking, because she's completely rational in every other way. (walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...)
  15. Bicker among yourselves, while I sneak out with the trophy.
  16. I don't think I've ever heard water going thru my band, but sometimes I can feel it. I kind of like it, because it's my little message that my band is there and working, lol.
  17. Hi Jim, and welcome to LBT. It sounds like your off to a great start on your new life. Good luck!!!
  18. Yeah, that's such a great tutorial. If I can follow it, it's pretty much fool proof, lol. Congrats on your on your recent banding. It looks like you're off to a great start too.

  20. Nadya has been advised to lose the nails for the health of the babies. Nadya Suleman: Eight tiny babies, 10 long fingernails - Better Life - USATODAY.com
  21. Your welcome. I followed the instructions on this link to add my ticker. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/
  22. Sorry to hear that melody, but I'm glad they were able to figure out what was going wrong.
  23. Some docs use numbing, some don't. Mine doesn't, and it doesn't hurt a bit. I can barely feel it.
