  1. thanks latrice and dolly. i guess i just need someone to make me stop and think about what I am doing. I am doing this for a reason also and need to get my self together. I fully intend to stick with the pre-op diet for sure now. After all, I still have 8 more days and I know I can do this! thanks jenhay
  2. Also would like to know why so many doctors differ on the pre-surgery diets. I know about the liver and wonder if that is what the liquid diet is for then why do some doctors put some of us on for 1 day or 4 days and even 2 or 3 weeks. I know I had to purchase my Optifast from my weight loss clinic and am wondering if part of the 2 week thing is just to sell the product. anyone got any answers? dr
  3. hi to everyone, I am having my band on the 31st of july. Saw my Dr. on friday of last week and he had a cancellation so he worked me in.for that day. He usually puts all his patients on the 2 week optifast, but since he was working me in he said 10 days would be ok. I started on the optifast on Sunday and have allready messed up and now I am worried also. Our garden corn came in today and I couldnt resist, so I ate 4 ears before I knew it. I still have 8 full days until surgery and am hoping I didnt mess everything up. This has worried me all day and I know I wont mess up again.
  4. i finally have a band date........JULY 31 hip hip hurray!
  5. hey melissa, wish i could tell you the difference but all i know is that i started my journey on jan 29, 08 and still havent had the band. i go on friday to see the surgeon for the second time and according to everything i have been told i should get a surgery date. it is a long process and involves all sorts of tests and consultations. sometimes it seems neverending. it seems i have been waiting for this so long that i am starting to lose interest and am not folowing the program as closely as i shoud be. i have quit writing in my food journals and not even trying to eat properly. maybe that will change when i get a date. i sure hope so cause i feel like i have been put on the back shelf or on hold, so to speak. good luck on your journey and i hope it goes by quicker for you. jenhay
  6. hey, where did everyone go? my computer has been back at the factory for over a week now and i have missed out on so much. just want to hear from some one. jenhay.
  7. hi famrica, did you decide to go to deaconess weight loss? i cant remember if you said so or not. if so we might run into each other. i will keep you updated and hope you will too. later.....jenhay
  8. donna, my thoughts and prayers are with you even though i find that i dont do nearly enough anymore. praying that is. your post touched me also and sounded so much like how i feel. thing is, theres a whole bunch of US out there. maybe we can all help each other and just maybe thats how GOD gets back in the picture...........my computers on the blink and i have really missed getting on here and seeing how every one is doing. should be up and running next week i hope cause if i am out of touch with you all i dont seem to do as well myself. hope to talk again soon and everyone try and stay positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!jenhay
  9. hey BG08 and famrica, guess what! my next appt was scheduled for july 2 with dr. koeler whom i have been seeing since i started this jpurney. i had really thought that i would have been approved by now and alllready had the surgery. but things do not always go as planned. antway the office called the other day and re-scheduled me for july because the dr was going to be out on vacation. so i am thinking its going to be another month before i even get to see a surgeon. BUT THEY CALLED TODAY AND SCHEDULED ME TO SEE THE SURGEON ON JULY 3. i am so excited. i feel like i am on my way! my computer is on the blink and should be fixed by next week so if you all dont hear from me that is why. talk yo you all soon...........jenhay
  10. THANKS CAT AND DANCER. JUST KNOWING THERE IS SOMEONE I CAN TALK TO AND BE ABLE TO REALLY SAY THINGS ABOUT MYSELF THAT I HAVE NEVER TALKED TO ANYONE ABOUT, WILL BE A BIG HELP , I THINK. AT LEAST IT WILL BE A START. I KNOW I MAY NOT HAVE AS MUCH WEIGHT TO LOSE AS A LOT OF PEOPLE, BUT IT STILL WILL BE HARD. I JUST WENT BACK TO MY REGULAR DR. ON THURSDAY AND HE DIAGNOSED ME WITH TYPE 2 DIABETIS AND STARTED ME ON MEDS FOR THAT. I AM ALLREADY TAKEING A LOT OF MEDS AND NOW I GET TO ADD ANOTHER ONE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY GOAL WEIGHT WILL BE BUT I AM GUESSING THAT I NEED TO LOSE ABOUT 75 LBS. I AM TAKING MEDS FOR HIGH CHOLESTROL, DEPRESSION, PLAVIX, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND DIABETIS. MY DOCTOR SAID THAT IF I LOST THE WEIGHT THAT I COULD POSSIBLY COME OFF EVERYTHING BUT THE CHOLESTROL AND PLAVIX, BUT THOSE TWO WOULD BE AT A MUCH LOWER DOSE. I AM 53 YRS OLD AND I FEEL LIKE 63 [i AM GUESSING] I WANT TO FEEL BETTER! looking better would be nice too, but feeling better and possibly living longer is my real goal. i want to be able to give myself a pedicure like i used to before i got so big that i can hardly reach them now without a long scrub brush! I NEED TO QUIT RANTING AND RAVING FOR TONIGHT AND GIVE YOU ALL A BREAK. THANKS FOR LISTENING. jenhay
  11. Hi to everyone, I have been devouring this web site since I found it a little over a week ago. I just found this particular site tonight and realize I might need some help in this area. I am also a food addict who goes on binges sometimes to the point of making myself sick. I can't believe I just admitted that! I am in the process of getting approved for lap band and should be having the surgery in about a month. I have completed all the tests and programs and meeting and such. But after having read all these posts I have come to the realization that I need more than the band. I don"t know where to start........can anyone help me? jenhay
  12. hey there! would like to know the brand name and where you purchased the protein in a tube. I read thru threads to try and pick up all the info I can. thanks, jenhay
  13. So glad I found your post! It was almost like reading my own biography except iI am several years older. Like you, no one would be able to guess my weight because I seem to carry it "well". At least until about 6 mo. ago when I quit smoking and gained another 30 lbs. I am only 5' 1" and reached an alltime high weight of 205. I have been overwieght for 20 years but not to this extreme. I always new how to dress to camoflauge? Also I started having the same kind of panic attacks that you described several years ago. Felt like I was having heart attacks even when I was at rest. Ive been on antidepressants ever since. I have an appt. on June 11 and I have completed all my tests and expect my DR to schedule a surgery date. Would like to stay in touch to see how you are doing. Good luck! Jenhay
  14. TXfella, thanks for "stopping by". i have been reading up on the forums for a few days trying to gather all the info I can before my banding. Nice to hear fromm someone who had this done a few years ago and still maintaining. That will be my goal also. Good luck! jenhay
  15. B-Girl08, Thanks for answering my message. I have a couple of friends that havwe had the surgery in louisville, but it was a bit farther for me to go, so I chose Evansville. It is still an hour and half drive for me, about the same as Louisville, but the traffic is not so crazy. I just had the upper GI ? yesterday and go back to the dr on the 11th. Should give me a date. Congrats on your band and on the weight loss so far. I have learned more from this site in the last 2 days than I have in the last 4 months. I think maybe once I am approved by my insurance and it is definite that I will be having the band that the weight loss center will focus more on what I need to do. I have been to the meetings with the nutritionist and I get all the information on what I should eat and the correct portions and so on. I allready know all that, but it has not helped me in the past or I would not be where I am at today. Don't get me wrong, I realize that a certain amount of my success will depend on me doing my part, but if I could follow that kind of diet I would not need the surgery. And I guess that what I want to know is this going to be as hard as trying to lose the weight on my own by trying to follow a diet that I know I can't stick with? Hope you can answer some of these questions for me. Maybe I am just getting nervous because I know I am at the countdown to surgery.
  16. Bobbi, i am afraid i wont be much help. i am new to this site and really dont even know how to use or post a "thread". all i can say is to keep trying. i have been working toward my lap band since late jan. and can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  17. Just found this web site last night. I've been in the process of getting approved since the end of Jan. My letter went in to the insurance and they requested one more test. I am having that done tomorrow so I think I should be getting a surgery date in june, I HOPE. Don't really know what to expect. I havenot really done much homework and did not think to check the web I am fairly a newbie on the computer also...........Anyone have any suggestions or advice?
