July Butterflies Master Thread
Thanks for the support Kimaly. I used to get on LB Talk almost daily for a year and it did help. I also kept an online food journal and really need to get back to that. I had to have a total unfill this past Nov. I had been at almost perfect restriction and was losing steadily but had a very traumatic tragedy happen in our family and I was in total shock and couldn't eat for a week. When I did come around and try to eat, the stress had tightened my band to the point where I could hardly swallow water. I had lost 12 lbs in 10 days and looked like death warmed over. So had to have a total unfill and have slowly been trying to get back to where I was before but my dr. wants me to take it slow but I obsessing over this weight gain but can't seem to get motivated like I was before.

just a quick note to say hi and to try and work up the effort to re-connect with the band world. Mine is a long and complicated story and I am slowly gaining back weight due to complications in my life and with my band. I need to somehow get motivated again and hope that youall will give me the hope and support I need to do this. I had originally lost 65 lbs and was 15lbs from goal and as of today I have gained 22 of those lbs back. will tell you more of the details another day when I have more time. Just jumped on for a minute to see what was going on with some of the other july 08 bandsters and how they were doing. Sounds like you all are all doing great and keep up the good work and I know somehow I'll get back on board. I don't want all of this to have been for nothing. Thanks, Jenhay

Outrageous fill costs
Hi All, Just got an official letter from my insurance stating that they will cover 12 adjustments total, so I am SO HAPPY. It has been a long process. It has taken 5 months to get everything straightend out as to whether they will cover the fills or not. It took 7 full months from the time I first went to a dr. about the lap band to the date of my surgery. Go figure! Now I can make an appt. and get that long overdue fill. Thanks everyone for all the information and help. Jenhay.

Outrageous fill costs
Hi All, Thanks for your input on the costs of fills. I have a friend who had the lap band in Louisville and all her fill for the first year were included in the cost. She was a self-pay and I thought that was why it was included. I did get a call from my insurance today and they told me that my adjustments WOULD BE COVERED! But I still am not happy with this particular weight loss clinic charging so much. I realize that the clinic is a part of the hospital and I have to see the dietician each time I go but that should not mean they should charge a $450.00 fee each time I go to get a fill. I do not have a problem with the $380.00 Dr. fee as I can see from everyones' different fee amounts that it is not totally outrageous on its own. But the bottom line is that my insurance is going to pay so I can make an appt. to get that long overdue fill. Again, thanks for all the information that you all shared. Jenhay

Outrageous fill costs
I had lapband surgery in July, 2008 and had my first fill in Oct and the second one in Dec and had another one scheduled for Feb which I have had to cancel because I have gotten the bill for the previous fills and my insurance is balking on paying the cost. I had everything pre- approved and went thru all the red tape and my insurance did pay for most of my surgery but it seems that none of my fills were included with the cost of my surgery. My Dr. charges $380.00 for a fill and there is a $450.00 Facility charge on top of that for a grand total of $830.00 per visit. I feel as if I have been left in limbo and can not take advantage of my lapband because I cannot afford the cost of the fills to get the restriction to make it all work. I have read on some threads that people are paying as little as $100.00 per fill and would pay that myself if necessary. I live in Western Kentucky and had my lapband in Evansville, IN and would appreciate any info on qualified fill Doctors within a 2 hr drive from me. Has anyone else had this problem? I went to a really good reputable weight loss center and just did not realize that the fill would be so expensive or is it my insurance they are trying to rip off? Jenhay

Sounds great. Will probably start on Monday. Finally got electricity back yesterday and the last of my family left last night. Got off work at noon today and have been working non-stop since to try and get my house at least liveable again. I adore my family but I totally spoiled them growing up. I was a stay at home mom and I did everything for them and they really don't know how to keep a house. But thats what I get for having three boys and letting them be my whoile life for 25 yrs.! Talk to you all later. Thanks for inviting me. Edie, make sure you tell your husband that I said thank you for doing the kind of work that he does. I know we were without electricity for 8 days and water foir a couple of days, but if it had not been for all the great work from our utility guys it could have been a lot worse. Jenhay

oh I forgot to mention that my whole family, ( married son/wife/2 grandkids, 2 single sons who live next door and 1 of their best friends and a girlfriend) has been staying with us for the past 6 days also. Empty nest syndrome is certainly a thing of the past, at least until we get electricity back!

Hi You Two, Have not been on the net much for the last week considering the ice storm we had and the only electricity we have had for the last 6 days is from our generator which we only run for about 6 to 8 hrs a day, and we alternate the times so we can keep the house warm. would love to join you on your trip, just give me the details and as soon as my life gets back to half way normal, I will start. Edie, how are you doing in all this mess from the ice storm? I know you only live about 25 miles from me

Hi all, Got on the scales and lost 2 lbs this week. Also seem to feel a little tighter since I started the pouch test. Is that also one of the benefits or is it my imagination? Jenhay

Hi Boos, I can sympathize with you because I am going thru the same thing right now. Donna is right about the 5 day pouch test. In fact, I started on it today and have stuck to it really well all day. I know it has only been 1 full day but I truly feel re-energized and am looking forward to tomorrow again. One day at a time. Hang in there and stay in contact because the encouragement I have gotten on this thread alone is helping me get back on track. Thanks everyone! Jenhay

Thank you all for the information and maybe I will find time to check this out. I did try to do the ticker thing but it did't work for me. I did get all the info put in and made it down to where you are supposed to cut and paste and could not get it to do it for me. You nall probably think I am a real dummy. But I will keep trying. I have 3 wonderful sons and they are all computer whizzes. Guess they didn' get that form me! They have all been building computers since high school and would be happy to help me but I am really private about my LBS and not veryt many people know that I have had it done. Oh, I didn't mean that they didn"t know, jus not many others. There I go, rambling again. SORRY Jenhay

Thanks for the help you all. I will try and get back on later tonight and see if I can do any of this. I have never pasted anything so this will be new for me. If I have any more questions I"ll just ask! Still would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about the '"BodyBug". Thanks You all, Jenhay

Also has anyone been researching this "BodyBugg" craze and is it worth the money and does it help? Hope someones got some answers for me. I am not real computer literate and don't know how to do the ticker thing. I was banded on July 31 and have lost a total of 35 pds since I first started this journey, so the total is from my first appt. pre-banding to today.
