Just pan fried the pepper steak dish on electric stove top. Browned steak first with a splash of olive oil - Set meat aside. Turned up heat to sear peppers and onions in steak drippings. Added steak back for serving. I'm sure this would work on the Weber. We have that model, too. Here's a beefy BQ rib eye steak, chicken + pork chops we grilled this past summer. They turned out delicious providing ample servings thru the week. Kept the sides light with roasted green Beans, strawberries and slivered almonds. Also great for leftovers. Early in Covid our thread was really craving hardy. Can't wait to see your Weber creations! ;]

I've done WW off and on for the last 20 yrs! Lost and regained lots of pounds. I was actually doing WW when I decided to have RNY. I was losing slowly and needed to get my BMI below 30 so I could have a hip replacement. I continued WW after WLS for the support they offer in addition to their meal plan. My WLS program only offers a support group meeting once a month and I needed more than that. The weekly meetings kept me accountable. The weekly weigh-ins showed me I was making progress and never had a stall. Now I'm a lifetime member. WW has really developed a livable program. It is easy to follow, incorporating WLS guidelines. I will be 2 yrs post WLS next week.

😅I’m still at the baggy underwear stage, and love it! Lol. Ahhh, simple pleasures. Pre-op I would never, ever put panties in the dryer...now, I have to shrink them all I can and still baggy. Trying to get closer to goal before buying new ones. I inwardly smile and Celebrate my baggie panties!🤩💃

Sophie7713, Looks absolutely FANTASTIC!! The perfect amount of char on the peppers...did you grill this? And yes, I believe filet mignon will be easier to digest here, too. After years of gas grilling, hubby and I decided to go back to the Weber Kettle Charcoal Grill for the flavor that we love. Delivered last week, haven’t used it yet, but this looks like a great dish to try😋. Thanks for idea!💖

Ha! Well, with that particular recipe, the fact that they're using sage in it means that they are trying to replicate the tastes of our Thanksgiving dinners: Turkey, stuffing/dressing which usually contains sage, and then cranberry for the cranberry sauce. I can't explain the gruyere cheese other than cheese just makes things better.

I am dying to make these! I just have to make a dent in all of the prepared meals I made and froze before I add to that stockpile.

Good luck! At my program (brigham & women in Boston) there is a private Facebook group. Your program may have something similar. Ask your nutritionist if they offer an online support group. There are several hospitals around me that do bariatric surgery. If that is true for you, contact them about online support.
I have found this forum helpful, and there are several posters who have consistently offered a great, non judgemental perspective, such as@catwoman7 and @ somerset. I can mostly ignore the obnoxious ones, but I'm an older curmudgeonly woman... once in awhile the food shaming or conduct shaming gets to me but i try not to engage. I agree "tough love " is often used to justify being a jerk. Hang in there, the results for most of us are worth it!

Sending a big virtual hug your way, SAS11, and I’m glad you stayed and expressed your concern. As Alex posted yesterday, what we say online may not always come across as we intended, so we need to be cautious, tread lightly and re-read before posting.
I have found most on this board to be loving, giving, supportive and generous. Once in awhile someone will appear sharp tongued and I dismiss it, that perhaps they were in a bad mood that day or too rushed to refine their words. Unfortunately, we can all have days like that and again, unintended.
As for an outright nasty someone, as Alex stated so well, do not engage nor get snared in. I would suggest ignoring it once, maybe twice, if it appears to continue discuss it with the administrator, not here. You don’t deserve to take that on, and hopefully you will never encounter it.
Finally, DON’T GIVE AWAY YOUR POWER TO ANYONE to derail you. Not here, not anywhere. YOU OWN YOUR POWER, just smile and move on from anything not in support of your best interest, for it’s about them, not about you.💖

I would add having medical issues and using certain medications can contribute to weight gain that's hard to mitigate.
(it's well documented that meds, steroids and psych, cause massive weight gains in a very short period of time)
Congratulations on your new journey ♥️

I had posted this on the WLS Veterans forum, but thought it would be a good idea to post this on this forum as well.
I had gastric bypass surgery 5 years ago. I was incredibly determined and managed to lose 180 lbs. in a year's time. I'm 5' 9.5" and I went from a size 28 to a size 10. Now, I've regained a lot of weight and I'm starting over. I thought it might be helpful to list the steps that caused my weight gain. My goal is to tackle these 6 and starting moving in the right direction. Does anyone else have additional things that contributed to regaining weight?

    Hey all,

It's my first time posting here! I really love how everyone here is so supportive of one another!
I am having my surgery done on October 6th. Luckily for me the nerves haven't kicked in yet but I do think about my post-op results a lot.
I am a male and I think my biggest worry with this surgery is that I will lose too much muscle and appear very weak after surgery. I haven't really done much work out since I assume I would just be wasting my time and energy only to lose all that I gained. I am thinking about getting a 10/15lb dumbbell and working my arms out with that over the 6 week period where no more than 15lb lifting is allowed. I know the Protein is key as well. I was wondering if anyone had some tips on retaining muscle? Especially in the shoulder/biceps area.
By the way, good luck to anyone having surgery soon.💪

Lily66 got a reaction from ozzy3434 in Morning Sickness & mild nausea 3 months post op anyone?
Had 6 month post op appt. this morning, reassured that mild nausea is common for some of us. Suggested going no more than 2 hours without eating at least something, and encouraged me to keep a food diary to correlate anything I may have eaten prior to the nausea feeling. Use Pepcid and Zofran PRN, call them if nausea increases or becomes bothersome.

Start educating yourself - I read books, and watched tons of Youtubes and especially liked the ones by Dr. Matthew Weiner. You will get a lot of your answers. To make a long story short, I left an obese life of multiple co-morbidities, including the continual immobilizing pain of my knees, hips, and backs that left me unable to do all the things I valued in life - hiking, playing with my grand kids, riding a bike, and even riding my horse. I already had one knee replacement and the other one was coming on very soon. I did not know a day without pain. I lived on Aleve every day. In six months (after WLS) I entered a whole new world of mobility, activity, and freedom from all pain!!!!! I completed a triathlon and a 50 mile bike race. I started riding my horse and could actually get myself off the ground all by myself. I could hike and have not used ANY pain meds! My co-morbidities evaporated. All my blood levels and vital signs returned to normal and my sleep apnea disappeared. I went from night to day, from darkness to light, from barely functioning to wildly active, from depression and misery to joy. I cannot begin to describe the whole new life I have now. I could not do it on my own. Decades of yo-yo dieting had completely wrecked my metabolism. WLS was my life saver and the tool I needed to begin this new healthy life. Yes, it is a big decision and demands a commitment to a new lifestyle and a new way of managing food. However, the alternative is a shortened, miserable life. For me, it was a no brainer. I was scared and nervous, and did have a couple of complications, but I would do it all over again. The rewards on this side are more than I can fully express. It is a very individual decision that you must make for YOURSELF - not for anyone else. But you will never know what is on the other side until you walk through that door.

We are talking a salad full of leaves of various kinds, right? Not egg or tuna or potato or taco? The leaves and all the other vegetables that aren't starchy contain negligible calories. It's the dressing, cheese, nuts, bacon, and croutons that add the calories. I bet a big bowl of fresh leafy greens might have 25 calories, max. I never counted the greens calories, only the dressing and add-ons.

I've been on a strict, 2 week pre-op diet of 900 calories a day or less. I've been finding it surprisingly easy... 2 Protein Shakes and 2 Protein Bars per day, along with a fibre supplement drink and Multi-Vitamin. I'm losing weight well, but more importantly, I'm confident that I'm shrinking my liver.
I'm flying internationally for my surgery. It'll be the first time (and probably the last time in a long time) for me to fly Business. It seems like such a huge shame to not enjoy some of the fantastic business class hospitality. Do you think that a single 'off-plan' meal is enough to undo 2 weeks of hardcore liver shrinking? I'm not talking pizza or a huge bowl of Pasta here, just a taste of something 'sensible' and maybe 1 glass of champagne.

Major splurge today. Thai rolled ice cream. This was banana, Nutella and it was sooo good. I ate 1/4 of it, although I could have polished it off!

Before, (minus 2 bites) and after. My son gladly finished the rest!

Wanted to switch up my breakfast by trying to eat a carb heavy breakfast instead and it didn’t go well 🤦🏻‍♀️
I made chia seed pudding out of the strawberry fairlife Protein Shake and topped it with 1 banana, 1kiwi, 1 peach, 5 black berries, 2 tbsp of blueberries, and 1 tbsp of almond granola. Everything was good and I enjoyed it but I was not full. I know it’s carbs but I would think after all that I would be somewhat full.
I might try this again but with oatmeal and less fruit. Anyways, Avo toast with two eggs on zero carb bread was my dinner since I missed it so much.

@GreenTealael Happy belated Yom Kipur! How was the fasting? Did you feast afterwards?
Last night's dinner, forgot to take after pic, I was only able to eat half of it.
Soybean spaghetti with my favorite homemade beef sauce! 😋 I'm still not sure about the noodle texture though, but it did the trick for now.
