  1. Being only 2 months banded I can't really say much. But here's an idea. What about back to lapband basics? Making sure your getting all your liquids and doing some days of liquids only (aka, protein shakes). Just an idea.
  2. Being honest with myself by keeping a food journal on thedailyplate.com has made all the difference in the world. I hate to food journal and keeping one online that gives me all the breakdowns has made it super easy. And it's free to use the site. I hated the idea of a food journal before but being able to search for the food I ate and not having to write it all down myself has made it super easy to keep up with. I'm glad I got over my fear. It's a FACT that people that keep a food journal vs. people that do not loose twice as much weight.
  3. My surgeon said no caffeine for 6 months. Something about he stomach healing.
  4. Wow, your so close to your goal! Only 22 pounds left to go? Only you know whats best for you. You went through a surgery for this, others who have not had it can't understand that and know whats best for you.
  5. I would hate to be desperate and have to do this move in a public restroom! :tt2:
  6. I took a month off because I work a physical labor job where I'm required to lift patients at a hospital on occasion (same story as the post a few above me). I wasn't going to take any chances. If I worked a desk job, I could have easily gone back after a week at most. No light duty offered at my job. I don't regret taking the month off with out pay.
  7. I have a 10cc band and no fills. I cannot tolerate soft bread, pasta, and rice. I also can't tolerate lettuce and dry meats (chicken breasts are out). Don't ask me why, but I can't.
  8. I will be buying this!

  10. I asked this to my surgeon because I wanted the real answer. Besides air brought into the pouch, you could accidentally swallow it and cause a blockage. He said he's had to open up a few to get it out.
  11. Try adding a Biotin supplement (vitamin pills) and using a Biotin shampoo. Jason (thats the brand name) makes one and it can be found at health food stores. I bought mine at vitamin world. They make a biotin shampoo and conditioner that was recommended to me by another lap bander.
  12. I come here daily. Thats a big motivator. It helps keep me focused. Also I keep a food journal (I use thedailyplate.com) they say people that log their food consumption loose 50% more weight than those who don't. I really hate to food journal, but it makes all the difference.
  13. I had a friend tell me that she didn't mention my weight loss because she didn't want to point me out and make me embarrassed. I guess I understood that.
  14. I understand where your coming from. But this feeling will pass. I had a melt down bad one night when my family ate pizza with friends and blocked up the kitchen with it and I couldn't get to my diet food. That was probably my lowest point. I'm 6 weeks post opt, down 33 pounds, and so far from that now I could care less if they did it right now. You'll move on from this feeling. Promise.
  15. And remember if you choose Mexico, make sure you know someone local to you that will agree to do your fills/unfills if needed. I think that really helps Mexico banded patients.
  16. I sent you a message. I haven't told all my friends on myspace about my lapband, kinda keeping it to a select few. If anyone wants to add me... www.myspace.com/reesa23
  17. I sort of have the same situation. I just started cooking separate for myself. They eat one thing, I just eat another. A small pain, but does the job.
  18. Eye exams are pretty inexpensive. It's once you start paying for glasses or contacts it gets expensive!

Just make sure to let me know you found me here. www.myspace.com/reesa23
  20. I have psuedo tumor cerebri disease. It started with simple headaches 5 years ago in my late 20s. Then became passing out. I went for a routine eye exam at a Walmart and after the exam taking the Dr. forever she told me she thought I had a brain tumor. I was really freaked out. I ended up going to the ER and told them about my headaches and what the eye doctor told me, they did a spinal tap and realized my spinal Fluid was off the charts, pressing on my brain. Hence, they told me I didn't have a brain tumor, I had PTC disease. Later I learned Doctors tell you this can happen to over weight females, but thats not the proven cause. I had to see a neurologist, and he had me try Topamax. You can't drink any carbonated drinks on that med, because it feels like acid on your tongue. And I was loosing feeling in entire body parts and couldn't eat. I later learned a lot of people call this drug Dopamax because it's known to give you memory loss. Then they had me do Diamox sequals. That didn't work. Next was a brain shunt (I have a VP shunt). That was fun going bald and having my skull cracked open. (NOT!!) PTC disease really made me feel I had to get my weight in control. I didn't have time to waste. The shunt masks the headaches and takes care of my spinal pressures. But after 2 years and no huge weight loss, my shunt needed a revision and I once again had to go bald and let them go in. I've had it with this disease making me not be a normal 33 year old. I tried the best I could to ignore the headaches and gobble pain pills. I ended up with a brain shunt. Now I'm taking care of my weight once and for all. PTC disease was the wake up call I needed to deal with my weight. Vicodin & Oxycodone are big time narcotics and are highly addictive. Please get a routine eye exam if your due or soon to be due and ask to see a neurologist. I could have gone blind ignoring those simple headaches. I just thought I was stressed from college and passing out because of the summer temps and maybe stress.
  21. My surgeon made me do 2 weeks, liquids only. 4 slimfast optimas a day.
  22. My surgeon said no more than 100 grams of carbs daily. I also don't eat white carbs (sugar, flour, rice, bread & potatoes)
  23. Can you tell us what a TYPICAL day of eating is like for you and what kind of exercise your doing and how often?
