  1. I'm glad you have a good surgeon who listens. Wishing you the very best of luck to get you back on track to a good quality of life. Please keep us updated.
  2. I had bypass on 9/24. I am recovering well. Energy is still lacking though.
  3. You got this. I had second thoughts too. This is the first step to a better you. Congrats on your weightloss!!
  4. Same thing going on here too. I'd pee 10 to 15 times a day before surgery. Now I'm usually about 4 to 5 times a day with about 80 ounces of water a day. I dont feel like I'm retaining water either but there's no way I'm peeing out the amount I'm taking in. I'm also in a weight loss stall. It started over a week ago.
  5. That was the hardest part for me in the liquid diet. Just didnt feel normal. Felt like I was starving, my pee was weird, my insides felt weird. I even convinced myself I smelled different. It can play some serious mind games with you for sure.
  6. They gave me those one ounce cups after surgery and told me to drink 3 ounces of water and 2 ounces of protein shakes in one hour. That lasted about 1 day for me. I told the husband just give me a normal 8 ounce protein drink and a normal cup of water. I drink normal. I cant chug water like i used to but I don't sip it either. I put away 32 ounces of water in about 30 minutes. I also felt hungry while on the liquid diet. My mom reminded me that it is head hunger not stomach hunger. So every time I thought I felt hungry, I would tell myself I was thirsty instead. You'll feel more human again once you start solids.
  7. I thought about keeping it a secret but I figured that would be too difficult. I'm a very private person but I decided to tell everyone my plan months in advance. I've had nothing but super positive support from family and co-workers. I have those who want to have it done approach me all the time with questions and curiosity. The first week or two after surgery was difficult for me psychologically. It's nice to talk about it with other people. Those who had surgery prior to me were helpful and always there to give me advice. I'm not one who really cares about what others opinions are of me. I am a very honest person and I have worked with the same people for 16 years so I knew when the time came and questions would be asked, I didn't want to put myself in a situation where I would lie or blind side them with the truth.
  8. I'm in the same boat. Lost 17 pounds first two weeks. Then nada this whole week.
  9. Congrats to your hard work!!!!
  10. Glad you're doing well. My energy level is lacking too but dr said that should come back. I'm still on soft foods. I do ok with shredded chicken. I use chicken tenderloins instead of whole breast. They are so much softer when baked. Tried beef stew last night. It was so good. That's the first red meat I have been able to handle. Makes a difference when it's tender. As for meat, I can't eat it by itself. I have to have something with it. Gravy, sauce, a super soft vegetable (meat lube). It helps chew up the meat into that apple sauce texture that we're supposed to. As far as getting full, I've only felt that once and that was last night with the beef stew. I typically eat 2 to 3 ounces at a time but last night I had 4 and it was too much. I was miserable for about 30 minutes. I also supplement 1 protein shake a day. I drink a premier with 30 grams of protein which just barely puts me over 60 grams each day. I also force myself to walk 30 minutes a day whether I want to or not.
  11. Bypass surgery on 9/24. Lost 17 pounds after 2 weeks.
  12. I am doing pretty good. Energy is lacking but I'm sticking with the program. Dr said energy should come back soon. Lost 17 pounds my first two weeks so I feeling excited about that. I started back at work today and I definitely feel beat. So glad to have food though. Even tiny amounts is so much better than protein all day.
  13. I took your advice. I take 2 bites. Literally wait 5 minutes and take 2 more. So far so good.
  14. Finally! Got put on soft food today. Had shredded chicken with salsa for lunch and a single chicken liver for dinner. It was amazing.
  15. Yikes. Did u count how many bites before the upchucking started? Did u feel full? Just trying to see what to expect. I'm not a graceful puker. It comes out of every orifice in my face in a Linda Blair fashion.
  16. Not yet. Will get cleared tues. I did get ballsy and drank a yogurt drink; felt fine afterwards.
  17. I had my surgery Tuesday. I cant get comfortable either. I'm a flip flopper. Been waking up every 30 minutes. I feel ya!
  18. I also had surgery on 9/24. I'm on a liquid diet for two weeks. I cannot wait to move on to pureed and/or soft foods. Weirdest thing. I'm craving cottage cheese and chicken livers. Have no idea what that's about. But I'm also interested in how others would progress to food as quick as 1 week. Seems a little fast but I'm guessing your body will tell you if it's time or not. Good luck. Do report back.
  19. Crystal light is part of my clear liquid diet. I can have all flavors. I can even have sugar free koolaid. My favorite is grape. I freeze it and make a grape slushy and eat it with a spoon.
  20. Anytime. I'm not struggling with protein but I am struggling with water intake. 64oz is the bare minimum my dr wants me to drink every day. I did that yesterday and I felt so dehydrated. So I have incorporated 16 oz extra liquids today. Hopefully I won't feel so dried out tomorrow morning. I do like the crystal light lemonade. Not having any issues with it and I haven't had to take a nausea pill today.
  21. You got this. I think almost everyone gets those jitters and second thoughts.
  22. I just had surgery yesterday. I remember being on operating table and thinking if it was too late to back out. I went through with it. The hardest day was the first day. I came home today and honestly I've only taken 2 pain pills today and 2 phenergan. I am drinking my 1 ounce water and shakes every hour and in the next 30 minutes I'll have my 64oz in. I was afraid but I know this surgery is more important than my fears. I hope it all works out for u. Just follow your doctor's instructions to the T. Good luck sweetheart!
  23. My doctor said the protein shakes are harsher on the stomach when they are premixed or mixed with milk. He told me to make my own protein shakes with celebrate 4 in 1 with water and not milk to start out with. I dont know if it makes a difference or not because I haven't tried it with milk yet. I am keeping this protien down though. So maybe there's something there, maybe not. Good luck. Hope u find your happy medium.
  24. Surgery went well yesterday. Spent one day in the hospital. I did puke up blood a couple of times but they said that was normal. They had me get up and start walking 4 hours after surgery. The pain was way worse yesterday than today. Today it's still there but it tolerable. Drinking 1 ounce cups every hour. 3 waters and 2 protein with vitamins. Been trying to take super deep breaths. Its suppose to help with the excess gas trapped in body as well as keeping me from getting pneumonia. I dont feel hungry. Haven't had solid food since sunday. I do feel incredibly tired right now but I'm sure that's just my body trying to heal itself. I've only taken 2 pain pills and 2 nausea pills today. Glad it's over with. The anticipation was killing me.
