  1. Strained soups, water, choked down the protein drinks, milk and milk diluted yogurt.
  2. Was this bypass or sleeve or something else? I don't have any advice, just curious to know for my own future. I know that when I would work out before surgery, I was always ravenously hungry on those days vs the days I didn't work out.
  3. Respectfully, If you don't want to read it, or can't handle the questions, or don't like the answers, then don't put your life on front street. You literally invited them all to comment when you made this post. Freedom of speech and opinions are not limited to one person.
  4. That's a wonderful idea. If you haven't done powder dipped nails before I would reccomend having them redone every few weeks or taken off professionally. I love the powder dipped nails but I thought I'd be clever and follow pinterest ideas to remove the powder. I ended up just scraping and peeling them off after soaking my nails in 100 percent acetone for over an hour. My nails weren't peeling before but they definitely were after I got done. Just some friendly advice so hopefully you don't end up in same situation.
  5. You're right it could also be too much of one vitamin or another. They do blood work at my doctor every few months the first year and then once a year for the rest of my life after that. I'm 7 weeks post op and I get what your saying about the super growth. I'm in that stage now where my hair and nails are in overdrive growth just like pregnancy. I hear hair loss affects some but usually levels out and new growth comes back about 6 months post op so hopefully the thinning is about done. In the meantime, get that bloodwork done so you know where u stand. Get you a beautiful scarf or a nice sun hat if it bothers you and don't let it ruin your vacation. You deserve some rest and relaxation!![emoji41]
  6. How is your hair? Hair and nails are made from same stuff. Have they done blood work to see if you are needing anything extra?
  7. Are u having laparoscopic or incision? If its laparoscopic, I think you'll be ok. If it's a concern or bother first couple of days, maybe sleep on couch or recliner.
  8. I am 7 weeks post op. Haven't experienced dumping yet. I have been sticking with the prescribed diet. I dont drink with my meals and I dont eat sugary foods. I'm sure there will be something in the future that causes it but i don't really think it's a common thing unless you're not eating right. I was first set for sleeve but dr talked me into bypass. He said he has to do more revisions of sleeves to bypass then any other surgery. So far so good for me. So I'm sure this will be a good decision for you as well.
  9. First 2 weeks were psychologically rough on me as well. I had a huge support system and i was still feeling regret and I definitely felt sorry for myself. I refused to give up though. Just focus on one day at a time. It will get better. Be kind to yourself. This is healing time.
  10. I dont sip. Havent since couple days post op gastric bypass. I'm thirsty too but we are basically on a keto diet after surgery. When I was on the keto diet before surgery I was always super thirsty. So I think that might be normal. Not sure on not drinking before, during, or after. I can tell when you when I didnt adhere to that rule and ate too soon after I drank, I could only fit 2 or 3 bites in because my stomach was already full. I go tomorrow to have my 6 week check up with blood draw. Have they checked your blood yet for any deficiencies?
  11. Glad all is well. I bet you're happy to be home after 7 days.
  12. Thanks. I just checked on ebay and amazon too. They both have them. Not expensive at all. I'll give it a try.
  13. Where do u get retinol from?
  14. It's all about your comfort. Find a position that is easy on the stomach. I would not be concerned about orgasms hurting you. I was probably 2 weeks post op when I had sex. Enjoy yourself!!!
  15. I can drink water normal. I have been able to since a few days post op. I dont chug it but I dont sip either. I can only eat 4 ounces of food but 4 is uncomfortable so I keep it around 3. Are you on a liquid only diet at this stage? I've noticed some are released to soft foods after a week. I had 2 weeks of liquid diet. I was definitely told no bread of any kind when I was released to soft foods. You must remember this surgery is only a tool to help you keep from overeating. It does not stop you from making bad food choices or keep you from falling into the same old habits. The hard work of discipline, following the diet, and doctor's orders has to come from you. If not, this surgery will not help you and you could cause yourself a serious medical emergency. Best of luck.
  16. I'm experimenting. Will be 6 weeks post op on Tues. I drink alot of water and put skin firming lotion on after every shower. I'll let you know in few months if it works. Lol
  17. I'm 5 weeks post op, will be 6 weeks this coming Tues. I too have just recently gotten some energy back. I'm not at the level before surgery but I dont feel the need to sleep as soon as i get home from work. My doctor had me go back to work after 2 weeks. The first week back was difficult but it gets better everyday.
  18. I had the same issue after surgery. To the point where I was exhausted from not being able to hold still and go to sleep. My mind was exhausted but my legs wanted to dance. It went away at about 3 weeks.
  19. Congrats to all on your hard work!!
  20. Happy Surgery Mikeyy. You'll do great. Congrats on your weightloss thus far. Keep us updated when you get out of hospital!
  21. Probably day 5 for me that I no longer felt any type of pain. I forced myself to walk a mile a every day. I'm sorry you're having a hard time drinking. Everyone's different. I'd definitely call your dr and let him know before you get too dehydrated.
  22. Woohoo! So happy you're able to eat now. Fingers crossed that's fixed the problem permanently and everything heals as it should. I'm sure you feel so much better already. Thanks for updating.
  23. I am sorry this is turning into a love/hate experience for you. Unfortunately from the time we are children we have gathered around food at all social and family functions. It's a bond created from generation to generation centered around food. I haven't experienced anything that negative yet. But I constantly get invited to dinners celebrating anything from birthdays to anniversaries. It kinda sucks. I haven't ordered anything for myself at a restaurant since surgery. I generally eat off my husbands plate but when he's not around I just sit there and drink water and assure everyone I'm ok and I'm not starving as they suspect. Usually I've already chugged a protein shake in the parking lot of the restaurant in anticipation of my situation. My bestfriend tells me all the time that I've changed but I keep reminding her I haven't changed me, just my eating habits and we can bond over something other than food. I've also had to break that food bond with my husband and mother. It's been hard but they are coming around. I just try to be as open about my needs to them as I can so they can understand. I hope you find the support you need. It makes this journey so much easier.
  24. I have a pretty ruthless dietitian. He tells me to stop eating or drinking a certain item all the time. I've been scolded for eating a banana as well. Lol. But I try not to take it personally or see it as a stab at me but rather an aggressive coach in my corner who wants me to succeed as much as i do. After all if i could have done this all on my own, I wouldn't have needed surgery in the first place. As for all the tests that come with, it wasn't my doctor that demanded all these hoops, it was the damn insurance companies. Like Recidivist above said, it's a box that needs to be checked.
