  1. I have actually hit a wall for 2 months now and have slowly been giving up, but I just read your post and it has inspired me again. So...when I get up in the morning, I will start fresh and get my mind and body back on track. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
  2. I am sooo diappointed with my weightloss since surgery. I am doing everything I'm supposed to do and I'm not having the success I had hoped for. I figured with being young and active that it would fall off faster. There were 4 of us that had surgery the same day-everyone had more weight to lose than me, but they all have at least a decade on me also, so I guess in my mind I turned it into a competition and thought I'd blow them out of the water....WRONG. They have all lost 50 and 70 lbs already, crap, we just got banded July 17th, how'd they do that? I have only lost 18 lbs. You'd think they all got bypass and I was the only one with the band. Its true that a very few folks who know me well have noticed the weightloss and that I'm down a jean size and I don't have to pour myself into them, but I'm just so sad and unhappy with this slow progress. Can someone who has experienced this situation please give me advice on how they got out of this if you did, and if you never got out of this, let me know that too. I just feel like I have scars for nothing.
  3. I totally understand. I was also banded the 17th and just knew that i wouldn't be one to cheat since I went through the whole process. I figured cheating wasn't worth it. I've done well, THEN...I started soft foods, got my period and food cravings, and NO RESTRICTION all at the same time. I hope this doesn't happen every month. Over the last four days my weight has stopped, gone in reverse and up 1.5 lbs. I'm so upset. You're not alone. Lets make a vow that starting in the morning, we start fresh. DEAL? Its already happened, all we can do is cut it out.
  4. Sandibly, I understand your feelings too. I finally revealed my surgery to another friend of mine one week after surgery. He told me it was an expensive cop out. Then proceeded to tell me how he had lost 40 lbs with just diet alone. Good for him, but apparently MY body doesn't work that way. I was gonna cry and just hang up, but instead, I told him that the only people who call it a "cop out" were people who had NO CLUE all the hard work that it involved and that he should truly research it in his spare time. That hushed him up and I changed the subject.
  5. I have the same problem. My best friend has a large frame and she wears a 16-(a tight 16)I wish I could fit into a 16 right now, but anyway. She knows I'm trying really hard. I've only been banded for 2.5 weeks. She supports me-to my face anyway. However, she's been extra flirty with people and when we're hanging out and listening to music, she does her "booty dance" alot more. I feel like she's thinking "ya, you're not gonna make it, you'll never be able to wear my jeans or pick up guys like me". Well, I'm married anyway, plus, I was always smaller than her-size 10 and 12. She just didn't meet me til I was heavy, so she doesn't realize that after I SUCCEED, my body is gonna blow hers out of the water. I try to keep hold of that last thought to keep me from saying something really hateful when she's showing off. Just give me some time, she'll see.
  6. Congratulations! I can't wait til I can say that too!
  7. I too am having trouble with my pills. I have to take meds 3 times a day for various things. I cut mine up for right now, but as I get tighter, I might have to switch over to crushing everytime-which I have tried:crying: It makes me gag and throw up in my mouth when I've crushed them because little particles still rest on the back of my tongue and it is very bitter and its a horrible feeling. I had tried applesause and pudding, neither work for me. At my followup yesterday, my doc suggested crushing, then letting them dissolve in warm jello and putting my doses into seperate shots and taking them that way. I figure I'll try that even though it sounds like a real pain in the rear.
  8. Hi. I think perhaps you need to slow down a little and do alot more research before you go forth with the band. Yes, its true that you have to be married before you can get on your fiance's insurance. I know it sounds really exciting at first, but its really hard work along with the band helping, it won't fix it. It sounds that all your habits are quite good, so maybe more, longer trips to the gym would work. If you still feel like this is the only thing that can help you, definitely do it. I'm really glad I did.
  9. I understand how you are feeling. I was in the same boat and I was counting down the seconds and was convinced I was gonna freak out since I'd never had surgery. I had visions of getting on the table and flailing around and begging them to stop, BUT, I was surprisingly calm. All the new exciting things and the IV and the nurses swarming around me kept my brain occupied, then next thing I knew I was in the OR with an oxygen mask over my face taking deep breathes and I woke up with a band. I know its easy for me to say "don't worry", but I was a wreck til I got to the hospital, then a calmness and feeling of safety came over me and I was fine and sooo happy, then I was done! Hang in there and congratulations! You can do it!
  10. Is anyone able to update their ticker? Mine looks a little funny and when I click on it, it won't take me to the "ticker page" to update my weight loss.
  11. I am able to sleep on both sides, but it is more comfortable on my right side-my left side is a little tender so I have to use pillows and lay a certain way, but I am getting GREAT sleep!
  12. I know! I'm 11 days out and I haven't been cursed with the gas pain. I only had some belly bloating for about 4 days that was a little uncomfortable. Things couldn't have gone better. I'm excited, the scale is moving already. I have my follow up (a little late) on Tues and I should be released to go to the gym, can't wait to suck everything in!
  13. Uumm, have any of you banded ladies noticed that you now have a new female smell? I started noticing it about halfway through my pre op diet. Its really bothering me. Its embarrassing to me. I won't let my husband near me like that, well, I'm still in pain too anyway. I only notice it when I go to the bathroom, but its not just my pee. I'm 7 days post op, I wonder if it will go away. Help, am I alone?
  14. I would reccomend 'Isopure' protein drinks from GNC. They are fruit flavored, clear liquid drinks. If you take a bottle and split it-1/2 Isopure 1/2 water, it tastes like watered down Koolaid, then you're getting 20 gms protein and 10oz water at a time. I bought the blue raspberry flavor. There isn't a wang or a medicine taste and the whole bottle is 40 gms protein before you dilute it. This way you can get in your protein without the dairy. It IS pricey though.
  15. Congratulations on your success! I can't wait to be back in pretty bras and MATCHING panties again. When I hit onederland, I'm going to Victoria Secret and buying just one matching set of something. You go girl, you and your red bra!:scared2:
  16. My surgery is only about 2 hours away now. I made it. I'm all packed and watching the clock...tick, tick, tick...I'll be back when I'm able. Wish me luck!
  17. Yup, I'm only having to do my liver diet for 8 days, but I'm ready to eat the couch today on day 7! LOL. I'm on liquids and literally 3 low carb foods that I can chew on...I just wanna take a second to thank God for carrots...ok, I figure that day 9-SURGERY DAY-will prove to me that all of this is worth it. I'm just glad I didn't have to do it for two weeks. Good luck to you, you can do it.:tongue_smilie:
  18. I'm on clear liquid, low card, and low cal. I'm making myself drink my Isopure, that's about the only thing that doesn't make me wretch. I'm trying to take it easy, but my panic is also setting in. I'm scared. I know I'll be ok though. Thanks to all for your support.
  19. Ok, so I'm on day 6 of my 8 day pre op diet. My surgery is Thursday. I am sooo sick of the repetitive liquid regimen that I've lost my appetite. I'm sure some of it is nerves, but right now I'm too tired and weak to care. I simply don't want anything. The thought of putting anything else in my body makes me gag-literally. Has this happened to anyone else? Istead of starving, I'm going the other way.:confused2:
  20. Congratulations Max! I'm am getting banded Thurs the 17th. I've been noticing already how many food commercials there are. This liquid diet is killing me. I've got head hunger bad. I find that I'm talking myself out of cheating constantly(though I have once) because I know its all in my head.
  21. My surgery is scheduled for the 17th. I am on the pre op liquids (blah). I am tired, and I am starting to think...what if I wake up with this band in my body and start panicking and wanting it out. Of course I'm gonna be sore, not feeling well and blaming this contraption for my agony, BUT what if I really trip out?! Has anyone tripped out after surgery, even for a little while, when they realized they had this thing in their body? Be honest. That is what I'm most worried about. I already have panic attacks (for my whole life and am being treated for them) and when I'm malnourished and stressed, they slam me. I don't want to have surgery and then a breakdown. Help, stories.
  22. Thank you to everyone. I feel uplifted by your responses.
  23. I'm sorry to hear about you losing your friend. I fear I will lose my only friend also. She has already made the comment that if I end up smaller than her, she'll be mad. She tried to laugh it off, but I know her and I know she's not joking. I'm also angry with myself cause I'm letting other peoples' reactions make me question my decision. I'm gonna go through with it, its just now, I have a question mark in the back of my head.
  24. I'm due to be banded on July 17th.
  25. I've been working so hard to make this surgery a reality, and now that it is, I'm wishing I hadn't told anyone about it. People around me could care less about what I'm getting ready to go through. I have to give up so much to gain so much and I feel like I'm being treated like a lazy, fat loser. That's not true and that's not fair. I'm just really down in the dumps and thinking about not talking to anyone about it anymore except you guys, my docs, and my husband from now on, and if my "friends" have questions, they can research the way I have. I'm just very sensitive today and feeling very misunderstood.
