Try mixing unflavored Protein Powder into the food you can eat.

Toss your wings in baking powder before you bake them. Bake them at 350 for 20 minutes then up the temp to 400 for the last 20 minutes. They will turn out crispy and ready to be tossed in your favorite sauce.

It does get better. Have you tried watering down the Protein Shakes? They also make Protein Water, but that may be too sweet as well. This site has fruit flavored protein mixes that are pretty good. I have tried the orange and like it. They also make unflavored Protein Powder which you can mix into things you can stand to drink. I got a nice double walled cup in the hospital and I carry it everywhere. It holds 18 oz and has markings for every ounce and that makes it easy to track how much water I have drank.

Uomograsso got a reaction from Tamarita in Why I Eat When I'm Not Hungry
I ate because I was hungry, bored, tired, stressed.... I was a gold star member of the clean plate club. Most meal I finished in about five minutes going for quantity versus taking my time and tasting things. I was living to eat.
After surgery I had zero hunger. I drank/ate only because I needed to meet my daily Protein goals. So now I am reprogramming my fat brain to eat to live. The only problem is filling the extra time I have now because I no longer think about food that much any more. I still catch myself thinking about eating things I shouldn't, but I can quickly put those thoughts to the side and remember why I had surgery. Which is to remake myself.

I wonder if its culturally a NY thing? (Katz deli pictured)
If you try it, have it sliced very thin and by preference I always cook and eat it hot

Yes it is! I always said I knew I was never going to back out of surgery after the barium swallow test because it was so terrible for me
If I could endure and complete that, everything else would be easy as pie 😂

I have done egg drop Soup and today hot and sour soup and had no problem with either. I start soft foods on Thursday and I am looking forward to scrambled eggs. I use egg beaters, don't know if they are better or worse than real eggs on the new stomach or not.

My therapist actually doesn’t want me logging anything and she doesn’t think it’s a good idea to weigh myself.
Her opinion is that counting calories and macros and weighing didn’t prevent me from becoming MO to start with, and it won’t do me much good now that I’m in maintenance.
She also wants me to try to get in touch with more of my feelings than with scientific data.
I have a science brain and love to crunch numbers, which she thinks isn’t the best for me ATM.
I’m still unsure of that advice, TBH
She wants me to not log food and not weigh for 2 weeks and use how my body feels as a guide.
I get where she’s coming from, but she’s managed to maintain her size within 5-10 pounds for the last 28 years post WLS.
As far as my physique, she’s more along the lines of the weight loss clinic, which is there’s a lot of wiggle room and that I could lose 10 more pounds and be fine, or gain 10-15 and still be fine.
Her theory is that many times our bodies will naturally reset to a weight that we spent the most time in before MO started
For me, that weight would be in the 125-128 range as I was there during most of my 20’s until I got pregnant.
Since I did spend at least a decade of my life “underweight” she thinks my body is trying it’s best to get there again.
My cancer situation was unlucky/lucky.
Since I had TNBC, it was auto stage 3 with a 50% five year survival rate, but I don’t have to take the endocrine disrupters. And now that I’m 10 years out, my risk factors for recurrence are at zero.

Uomograsso got a reaction from Tamarita in Protein powder for water!
I had tried Syntrax Nectar. The have some pretty good flavors. I like the grape the best. You can get a sample pack of it, but it isn't just all fruit flavors though.

Well I finally got approved after Cigna denied initially! I am sooo excited and nervous at the same time. I call tomorrow to get scheduled and if all goes well I will have my surgery February 24th! I went and bought my stuff to start my 2 week liquid PRE-OP diet tomorrow! I am literally eating everything this weekend I can knowing it will be a long time until I eat again and hopefully never a lot! I am grateful for this forum. I feel so much more educated than I would have been had I not been able to read everyone's experience. I will keep you updated going forward. It has been a little over 2 weeks since they denied and since then my physicians office did an appeal and a peer to peer, so I am thankful! I started the process in November(actually thought about it for a year)

Just went to the gym this morning and did 30 minutes on the recumbent bike. Pre-surgery I was exercising 4 to 5 days a week and felt pretty good. Today I felt week like a kitten even though I did a very easy pace. Just got keep going though.
