I know the complication thread is scary as all heck but you should be aware of the fact that there's 9,151 members to this site and usually atleast one hundred on at any given time and I've never heard of any of us dying from getting the lapband. We're all taking action to give ourselves a longer healthy life. Any surgery is scary but you're not risking even close to as much with this as most other surgeries. Hang in there. We're all in this together!

August Band Crew!!!!!
Bandster16, I'm so sorry for your complication but I'm beyond proud of you for the positive attitude. You're an inspiration! I was banded on the 3rd and I'm back to my office job today. I'm here right now *shhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell* and I'm feeling pretty good. I did feel very weak when I got out of my shower this morning. Had to sit down for a bit before I got dressed. Right now I'm on break and sipping on my skim milk for protien. I took tylenol this morning just because I knew I'd be moving around a lot at work but other then that I've only taken the liquid loritab 3 times... all three right before bed. I'm very thankful I did this. If anybody has questions, feel free to ask away.

Clarity... I'm still having the major runs. When I need to pass gas I have to find the bathroom right away because I get some extra with it. Ick! My incisions are itching like CRAZY!!!! For dinner I unfroze some homemade squash soup I made over a week ago and put some broth in a cup with some of the veggies and put it through the blender till it was smoother then applesauce and ate that. It was SOOOOO good!

Where are all the Michigan people at??
So I was banded on Thursday morning at 8:30am. I'm feeling pretty good. I got my band and was in recovery an hour or so, then I got sent up to my room where I walked to my bed from the door. After napping for a while I got up and walked a few laps. Napped some more. Walked a bunch. The worst part was the gas pain. I could feel it in my chest really tight so they did an ekg and blood work and all was fine. I walked a whole lot and on a scale of 0 to 10 with pain being excruciating at 10 I think the highest I ever got was a 4 and that was right after surgery. I spent the night there and then on the next morning I had to go down to radiology and swallow the worst tasting stuff on the planet. All went through just fine so then I got back to my room and got a yummy popcicle. After that went down ok then I got a lunch tray with more popcicles, skim milk, broth (ick), and jello. I ate a cube of the jello and drank about half the milk, which took over an hour to do. I wasn't hungry at all. THe doctor came in to check my incisions and said "eat a little more, then you can go home" AHHH! hahaha. So I ate another cube and drank more skim milk. I left at 2pm. I've been doing really well. Took a long walk with hubby last night. The worst part has been these gas pains. I can hardly wait till they are gone! Otherwise I feel really good and I still havn't been too hungry. sipping my yogurt and milk and lots of water. If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask! I'm so glad I'm finally to this point! :clap2:

August Band Crew!!!!!
welcome home Courtney! I don't know how much I'm down yet because I don't have a scale but I'm sure it's a few pounds at least. I am really wanting the two weeks of liquids over with already. I can't eat broth. Something about the smell makes me nausous. I could go for some cream of wheat though, but I'm trying to follow my dr's orders. Me and DH went for a nice walk tonight. That helped some. I'm so glad to be at this point now. It's all downhill from here.... in a good way! I love being a loser!

August Band Crew!!!!!
I'm on liquids for 2 weeks so no mushies for me yet. I'm not really hungry either but I think that might be from the gas pains. Man I hate gas pains. I'm just sipping water, hot tea, propel, yogurt and popcicles. But not all at once. Oh and skim milk.

August Band Crew!!!!!
I'm home all! I got banded yesterday morning at 8:30am. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I am tired and my midsection is very sore. I'll write more later. Just wanted to check in. I'm home now and finally banded. YAY!

Yoda, do you have a dog?!

AAAAAHHH!!! I'm melting into a puddle!
Yoda... I feel your pain. I'm in Michigan which might as well be Ontario. It's HOT as heck here too! I think my flip flops were starting to melt in to the new blacktop in our parkinglot here at work yesterday. Someone took a little temp gage dodad outside yesterday and the temp of the blacktop was 146 degrees. YIKES! The hood of a black car was 145 and the leather seat inside was 142.

Piercings?
Probably 8 years ago I had my nipples pierced and it just felt like a pinch and then a really really hot sensation. They were sore for about a week and then just really sensitive. I enjoyed having them pierced but wish I had went to someone that would have done it better. He pierced them wrong and the one nipple started shedding the skin and pushing the ring out. I had to take it out and I had the other one in for several years. Not sure why I decided to take it out. Just did. I still miss it to this day though. hehehe.

Bathroom Scale?
I'm 393 pounds and having surgery on Thursday. I can not for the life of me find a bathroom scale that's not going to break the bank but goes up to 400 pounds. Anybody here know of a retail store that might have one? I tried walmart this morning. Highest it got was 350. Thanks
