  1. May 20th VSG. I'm on day 9 of 14day liquid pre op. Starting to get nervous and re- think things.
  2. Thank you, that was very informative.
  3. I am turning 33 and having surgery May 20 and am very worried about it. I don't know why I think 33 is old or late in the game to have surgery. I keep telling myself that I have actually tried and been successful many times.
  4. I was right where you're at on Wednesday. After a year of jumping through hoops, finally got my date ,(may 20) and I despised comments like this, but I promise your time will come. Try to stay busy so you dont make yourself crazy with anticipation.
  5. Is it like internal stomach pain or more like incision pain?
  6. How has the pain been? I know it's different for everyone. Thanks for responding. I just don't know what to do with myself.
  7. I'm having surgery May 20. I am not sure what I should be doing besides making small strides in the food and exercise department. How did you prepared yourself in the month approaching surgery?? Did you tell your family and friends? I've only told my side of the family. Not the in-laws.
  8. I also used a 0 nicotine vape to keep my hands/,mouth busy. I just took my nicotine blood test and am terrified that I failed it! I'm probably fine, but we all get the jitters when something has the power to take out end result from us. You can loose 10lbs on the pre-op diet. You can do this!!!
  9. Congrats! I pray you have a safe surgery and a quick recovery!
  10. Thank you so much! I had no idea that this process would be so emotionally difficult.
  11. My surgeons office called me to let me know that they are going to submit my paperwork for insurance approval. They told me that my insurance might request a nicotine blood test because I am a former smoker. Well , in two days I got the call to let me know that I was approved by my insurance. I assumed at this point that I didn't need to have the blood test done. I was told I'd be called in two weeks by the surgery scheduler. Fast forward 3-4 weeks, no call. Nothing. No news, nothing. I call the surgeons office and am informed that I need to take the nicotine test to schedule surgery. ??? Not a huge deal because I will pass the test- I occasion vape 0 nicotine just for the social aspect of it. But what a waste of my dang time! I paid all of my surgeons fees and my deductible in full. How long would they have made me wait?? I keep considering switching surgeons because this office literally makes no contact with patients. And it bother me really, really badly. I don't have any crazy expectations, just reach out if there's a problem. I almost feel blind in this whole process. I am so frustrated. I have a very complicated situation at work and need the surgery in May or June. And I am right in that window of scheduling. Please pray for my patience.
  12. Just wondering if anyone has had surgery done by Dr. Brian Gluck out of Muskegon, Mi? What was your post op diet like with him?? It looks like in his post operative paperwork it's going to take like 5 months to progress to high protein, low fat, "normal diet"
  13. I just paid cash in full for my surgery and I am seeing a very reputable surgeon, who I know is busy but the staff is who makes all contact (if they contact you at all) I had an EGD in the beginning of my journey. I just really want to know the date, I am trying to organize my life in that time period. I work a full time, very high stress job, and really want to focus on "me" for the first time. I think I deserve it. I need to make sure that family that are taking care of me for the first couple days can get the time off of work. Rant over!!
  14. I received insurance approval about. A week, maybe a week and a half ago. I was told that the surgeon needed to review my file, and then the scheduler will call to set a date. I am so worried that they are missing something from me, and I am unaware. ? Its probably just jitters but I just think that the office doesn't make enough contact with patients. Through my 6 month diet phase, I never heard from the office, not once. I called one time to see if there was anything they needed or that I should be doing and they said no, that they will call me when all of my requirements were met. What was communication like with your surgeons offices??
  15. Yes! Thank you. I am trying so hard to be prepared. I have a great Outlook and am ready. Nervous of course. But also want to get past the scary part which is the actual surgery itself, at this point.
  16. Just got approved for VSG and am waiting for a call back from the surgeon to schedule surgery. It's been a week, the paperwork says two weeks to finalize and review my charts. I can't stop thinking and planning. I have been trying to keep myself occupied at work and busy to stop myself obsessing. I know that surgery will be scheduled at least 1-2 months out. How am I going to get through this!???
  17. I will check this out now! Thank you!
  18. I love asking for a list if stuff to be excited to do. Also, the "training" for chewing. I think I just Hoover food in. That's going to have to change!
  19. I'm just wondering how you prepared yourselves physically and mentally in the weeks or months before surgery. I am just waiting for my surgery date. I can't stop thinking about it in anticipation and fear. I was thinking of buying some protein shakes and trying to incorporate them into my diet.
  20. Thank you. I haven't taken this class yet and haven't had any conversations recently with my surgeon/ surgeon's office.
  21. Thanks Congrats! We will get through this!
  22. Thanks, I hadn't thought about anesthiesia.
  23. I've been prescribed Qysimia for my 6 month pre-op weight management. I am finished with that and have been approved through insurance. Now I am just waiting for my surgery date. I don't know if I should keep taking the meds or not. I feel like it will help with the pre-op diet because I am not hungry at all while taking them. My surgeon is aware of the meds but hasn't mentioned.
  24. Thanks for the responses. I am nervous about the surgery and am a little worried I am going to chicken out. I've been working towards this for almost a year, so it's not a decision I'm taking lightly. I think that getting the approval just made it all more real.
