I decided to Photoshop us a "Get Real Edition" of Women's Health Magazine. The one you are never going to see on the new stand... To be taken as humor only, of course!
Just sarcasm from a girl on day three of liquids only.

a lot of plastic surgeons want you to be at a stable weight for 6-12 months before getting plastic surgery. Reason being is a lot of us experience a 10-20 lb bounce back after hitting our lowest weight. Gaining or losing more than 10 or 12 lbs after plastic surgery can affect your results. I actually waited two years until I was absolutely sure I was at a stable weight.
also, it's good to get someone who specializes in people who've had massive weight loss, or at minimum, someone who has done a truckload of these surgeries. It's supposed a pretty complicated subspecialty, so you want to make sure you have someone who's had a lot of experience with it. Keep in mind that the pictures they post on their Web site are probably going to reflect their best work, so look at sites like realself.com, too. Check belly buttons - those are supposedly hard to do. I've seen some crappy-looking post-surgical belly buttons.

Don't get me wrong but how much weight loss did you expect during this time span? Revisions tend to lose slower. Yes, I can absolutely understand the need to get back down with the weight fast but this is not a matter of weeks as you already know. Expect at least as much time to lose the excess weight this time as you needed before.
And tell these toxic family members of yours that your weight and diet is none of their business. Might need a bit of yelling but it's worth it.

FluffySaysForkIt! reacted to BigSue in Corona delaying weight loss surgery dates? Anyone?
Yeah, it's a huge bummer. Maybe it's selfish, but I don't know. Many (most?) of us who are having this surgery really need it, and some of us have been waiting for a long time to get it. Many of us have serious health conditions and are counting on the surgery to help us lose enough weight to alleviate these conditions. Our health depends on it. Our lives could depend on it.
I don't have a surgery date yet, but I was hoping for mid-July. I have a big work event from mid-October through the end of November, so I need to be fully recovered from surgery by then. If I get delayed more than about 6 weeks, I'm not going to be able to get the surgery in 2020, and that will also be a major financial blow.
P.S. Part of the logic of naming the virus "COVID-19" and not "Wuhan virus" was specifically to avoid implicating a place or culture. The point was to prevent racist reactions that could result from associating the virus with a certain group of people.

I am so sorry you are struggling with the insurance. I think the advice of seeing about comorbities might be a good option. sleep apnea, high blood pressure and some others can help make it so the lower BMI you have is not an issue.
Keep fighting! I hope you get good news soon!

I’ve been lurking here daily, decided to join in. Not a fabulous outfit, but super comfy. The big deal for me is this top is a size MEDIUM! Old Navy, and got it off the clearance rack for $5.99. Size 14 jeans. I haven’t seen these sizes on myself since high school!

Had a haircut for a big anniversary do that people will be at that I’ve not seen for years. Before my 120 lb loss. I said ‘please cut it to my shoulders’. It’s two inches above that... just below my jaw. I’m gutted. FML.

I think we are at the same party. Meet me at the bar.
I had a flatter stomach and smaller thighs BEFORE this Tummy Tuck, sigh. My pants are tight, sigh. My right boob looks bigger than my left at the moment, sigh. I have resorted to stuffing my compression garment and armpits with ice packs, cuz my boobs and armpit incisions have started to ache lately, sigh.

I thought I was buying a new, *flatter than ever before in my life, even when I was thin* tummy. But instead I have a baby Buddha tummy I need to STILL stuff into compression i.e. torture gear.

Hey, congratulations on the weight loss! That's awesome!
I actually have another perspective for you on this. I have previously lost 90 pounds at a time before (which put me at a pretty "normal" weight for several years) and then have run into people I had not seen in awhile at functions.
I, like you, anticipated that people might comment and was a little weirded out by the possible attention and questions. (I am pretty reserved in groups.) Guess what? Nobody said anything! Nada. Zip. Zilich. Even the people who I feel like I am pretty close to... people who I DO talk to on the regular. Friends.
So then I left feeling a little bad that no one "noticed". LOL! I had to remind myself that it didn't matter, that at least some noticed (no doubt) and were too jealous/uncomfortable to bring it up. Weight talk is tricky! Some people will be happy for you, but be afraid to say anything. Others may not be as happy for you as it brings up there own issues and so they also don't comment. Some just don't give a fig... etc.
On the other hand, you may get some comments and questions. Who knows?
Decide what/ if/ how much you care to say ahead of time so you have a clear plan and stick to it. If nothing else, I think most people like to talk about themselves, so say your pre-planned statement and then ask them something about themselves quickly with lots of follow up questions. 😉
Enjoy your upcoming function and your new found success! You deserve it! 🍸

Sorry to say but this is incorrect information.

The sleeve was originally designed to be the first step in the DS operation. Not the bypass. It's actually quite complex to do an RNY following VSG.

I had surgery last July and I've lost 70 lbs. When I see people that I haven't seen in a while that is usually one of the first things that comes up. Immediately after "You look great!" comes the "How are you doing it?". What is most frustrating to me is that it seems like when I open up to people about my surgery so many choose to share that they know someone who did it, lost a bunch of weight, then gained it back or weigh more than before. I'm SO sick of hearing that! I feel bad to mislead people about how I'm losing so much weight because I know that desperate feeling of hoping to discover the "perfect" diet. I could just say that I only drink Water and mostly eat Protein but I'd feel like I was lying because I know I couldn't do this without the surgery. I've tried losing weight so many times. I am seriously surprised about the number of people that have reacted that way. In a way it is motivational driver to keep the weight off but it is also annoying because it keeps happening. This journey hasn't been easy and I'm proud of my accomplishments so it is depressing when someone's first response is negative.
Has anyone else experienced a lot of negativity when you open up about having surgery? How do you respond? Just wondering.

I would, for myself, do the surgery 10 times over again for the way I feel right now- but I haven't had the complications you have endured, either.
I am so sorry you have had it so rough!
I hope as time goes on things will settle down health wise for you and become much, much easier.
