I saw my Doctor for my 2 year follow up today, on my actual 2 year anniversary, and it went great. I asked him if I should worry about year three. He smiled and said I don’t worry about you, you get this, and has every confidence that I will stay on track.
I think the second year was easier for me than the first year, I feel like I know what I have to do, and what to avoid, to maintain a healthy weight. I lost weight so slowly the first year, I got very frustrated at times but I never lost hope, cheated or gave up. I WANTED And needed this, so quitting was never an option for me. Reading this board then participating A few months later really helped me reach my goals.
Im not going to kid myself and assume anything. I have to stay diligent and track what I eat and remain active. There is no magic answer, you have to put in the work and keep doing it. It hasn’t always been easy but it has been so worth it.

    So far, so good.

I was like that too, Superman, at 6 months, even past a year. Like you, I lost my weight very quickly, hitting goal at 6-7 months. For quite a while I was fighting to KEEP the weight on - I kept losing and was stuffing myself to keep from losing more. Then at about 13 months post op, a few pounds started to slip back on. I've gained 7 and can feel it. So now I am really watching things - getting more exercise, exchanging some grain based carbs for more veggies, cutting out the snacking, concentrating more on eating a prescribed volume instead of chasing restriction. At this point it is all about lifestyle and following through on the healthy habits I learned in the first year. But, there is definitely a honeymoon stage in the first year, and after that, things do start to change. I also think I may be absorbing more nutrients/calories now, and the restriction is definitely less. There is no magic now - just embracing my new body and life wholeheartedly with healthy choices.

I have looked like a Homeless guy for the last 6 months, I have now just started picking up a few things that fit. I did this as a way of reminding me how dang fat and out of shape i was. I had a huge wardrobe of huge clothes so i have donated Lawn and Leaf bags full of clothes. I am never going back to that size would rather be dead!
Sure has pissed off the kids walking around in big baggy clothes for the last few months

I was very hungry in the first 2 weeks after surgery but at about week 4 when I was allowed to go back to the gym my hunger decreased about 90% and since then I have good days and some days that are so so!!!!!!! Overall, this has been a great process for me and I wake up each day with a fight in my eyes that tells me that I never want to go back to the days of overeating and having health issues due to eating whatever I want and whenever I want to.... It is a process and you will find what works for you in this process... So just stay the course and follow the instructions from your healthcare team.... Also, major key for me was you have to want this process to work and fight everyday to make it work for you... Good luck to you and keep us posted...

    https://asmbs.org/patients/bariatric-surgery-misconceptions

Misconception: Most people who have metabolic and bariatric surgery regain their weight.
    Truth:
As many as 50 percent of patients may regain a small amount of weight (approximately 5 percent) two years or more following their surgery. However, longitudinal studies find that most bariatric surgery patients maintain successful weight-loss long-term. ‘Successful’ weight-loss is arbitrarily defined as weight-loss equal to or greater than 50 percent of excess body weight. Often, successful results are determined by the patient, by their perceived improvement in quality of life. In such cases, the total retained weight-loss may be more, or less, than this arbitrary definition. Such massive and sustained weight reduction with surgery is in sharp contrast to the experience most patients have previously had with non-surgical therapies.
