Maybe you could have a mini-meal at night. Like a healthy one. Caffeine free spicy herbal tea with a splash of Protein milk. Or hot mug of broth. Or a protein meal like cottage cheese. Or maybe just pick up a hobby you can do at night to stay out of the kitchen like crochet or something or reading in bed.

I use genpro, yeah it's had some legal troubles but must have resolved because I got mine from the Bariatric Pal Store, Alex wouldn't carry something with any taint to it!

I was shocked too since we had agreed on Monday coming up but then moved it to this Friday. I am hoping they can do something then about it. But it doesn't hurt so there is that.

So you know you are in for a bad time when you contact a urologist about your kidney stones and the scheduler immediately puts you on hold to talk to the medical team. Yeah so my Friday seems like it will be fairly booked.

If I take multi-vitamins too late in the day they give me insomnia or "busy brain" where I can't relax. I am also really sensitive to caffeine so even a bit of chocolate will keep me awake. I love a hot bath with Epsom salt to get me drowsy.

Me too. I have kidney and ovary problems right now and the doctor scale is always 2 poundsish heavier than my home scale so staying off of it helps me not to have that minute of being pissed at the doctors when it reads 2 pounds more than home and having to figure out my lightest weight clothes to wear to the doctors!

Let me know how it goes. A big thing I have noticed is how unfamiliar other doctors are with wls and how it works with other ailments like kidney stones. The ER told me to filter my pee but didn't give me a filter. About 4 days later my pcp gave me one. Looks like a plastic funnel with mesh at the end. I also bought a set of paper disposable filters I think people use to filter paint (I just searched kidney stone filters on amazon). Its crucial to catch the stone or stone fragments so they can see what it is made of and that will dictate your diet and how they can treat it.

I resist talking about my dad's surgery here because his tale is not mine to tell BUT since I am nameless and he doesnt internet it's ok. His kidney doctor told him to stop taking Calcium. They just do blood tests to make sure he has enough or whatever. I dont agree. (He is a few years out and met his goal) My first urologist said calcium citrate does not contribute to kidney stones, high purine or oxalate foods do such as spinach and tea. My new urologist (new insurance) said whoa on the calcium and on all Vitamins above 100% RDA but he wont put it in writing and defers to the bariatric doctor. I am sticking with bariatric stuff because I can live with kidney stones but will die malnourished. I am guessing the food volume being reduced so drastically should help. I have to get surgery and a stent placed next month.

Sweettoothless got a reaction from Frustr8 in Did you have to share a room in the hospital?
If you can swing it I would pay the upcharge for a private room. I had my own and it was awesome not having the TV on and being able to pee when I needed to. There was a fold-out couch for my husband but he would have been my Helga-the-He-Devil because he is an extrovert and high energy and talks a lot! I loved my private time to recuperate and read. The only time I have ever had to share a room was when baby #2 arrived. They wanted me to share a labor room with a woman who brought her husband and nearly every relative she had with her. She shaved herself "downstairs" and left the mess all over the bathroom where I needed to go vomit constantly (I had a freakish vomity second childbirth, 1 and 3 were dry). I finally held my nurses wrist and my husband and told them to either get me out of there or I was going to go to another hospital (probably a bluff as I was vomiting and dehydrated) because no way was I laboring in that nut house. This was an upscale hospital with Laura Ashley birthing-freaking-suites that were all occupied. The nurse felt for me and moved me to a tiny single room with a single bed that had all of the hospital birthing equipment stored. There was a narrow path to the bed. I was grateful. People bopped in to get equipment but I dealt with it. Afterwards I had to share a room. The lady was fine but her husband was very sick and coughed non-stop as well as loads of visitors that had to walk past me so I couldn't wait to get out of there.

You're doing fine with weight loss, but if you aren't hitting your Water goals regularly, you're going to definitely stall out. You need lots of water to burn fat and to get it out of your system. If you get yourself up to 80-100oz a day, you'll see a big difference. If you can't stand water for some reason, add some lemon and/or lime to the water with a little salt (sea salt or Himalayan Pink, not ionized, processed table salt) and some stevia for flavor. In cruch, use some crystal light--it's processed chemical crap, but it won't trigger an insulin response in most cases so from a purely weight loss perspective it's generally ok (not from an overall health perspective though).

    Itโ€™s no ones business.
In my opinion the average person that has not been obese cannot fathom what it is to lose 175 pounds so there is no point in me telling them a number they cannot wrap their brain around.
    I say โ€œa lotโ€. Then I move on.

    update about the tragedy
police officially ruled this an accident.
we didn't know this, but apparently policed saw his phone on
the floor. "they" are thinking he dropped the phone,
bent down to reach it and that's when the problem with
    the rope happened.

January 3rd the world got a little darker with the passing
    of my poor grand-son, andrew.

    thanx for listening

Such a tragedy we will never forger

Good for your nutritionist! I don't know why some docs still do these liquid pre-op diets - personally, I would avoid those docs if I could (which I did, as our doc doesn't do any pre-op diets.)
To answer the OP's question, no, we didn't have a choice, nor did we have to do a diet. However, if we did, I would choose to keep my diet as close to your long term post-op ideals as possible, to avoid the continual changing up of the diet as one progresses through to one's ultimate maintenance lifestyle. Make the concessions that are needed to accommodate the post-op steps toward "real" food, but keep the vision long term. Unnecessary liquid dieting simply distracts from the long term goal of learning to eat a healthy diet that aids in weight control over your lifetime.

Sweettoothless got a reaction from Carl Winslow in Less than 1 week post surgical and can't stop FANTASIZING ABOUT FOOD!
Those first 2 weeks I craved a hotdog on a bun with relish and mustard. It popped in my head non-stop but I told myself when I got to soft foods I could have it (or a bit of it) so it wasn't taboo. But the weird thing is I freaking loathe hotdogs. Absolutely gag at the thought. When the time came I had one bite and was all, ew gross and threw it away.

Sweettoothless got a reaction from ClarkRomulus in Learning the balance: Snack Foods
A lot of things change after surgery and your taste buds might be one of them. None of the snack foods I used to love sound good to me anymore. My program isn't low carb but we aren't allowed to snack, only 3 meals. My Snacks of choice were always sweet ones. Like I could eat the heck out of fruit snacks. But now I have zero desire for them. My number one favorite food was ice cream and now it grosses me out. I want spice and sour and bitter. I also used to love mindlessly eating something bland like pretzels and now they just taste so bland. Things might change for me when I am further out but I am just so used to not eating snacky stuff now the habit feels broken. I buy less crap for my kids (who are all 18 and over and in school) because it is so easy to pass by the Twinkie displays now.
